6.8.1
3 TopicsAfter update of 516 from 6.6.1 to 6.8.1 old volumes from prior factory default showed back up
I just upgraded from 6.6.1 to 6.8.1 (after testing 6.8.1 on a 316). The upgrade process went smootly and it seems to work okay, however, some old volumes (vol2 and vol3) that were from a prior factory default showed back up in the UI. Under system --> volumes it now shows data, eda1 (expected), but also shows vol2 and vol3 (that should not exist). The volumes vol2 and vol3 do not show that they are using any disks and the only option I have is to destroy or balance them (balance is strange as there are no disks assigned). I would like to destroy them, but I am a little nervous and want to check with someone from Netgear before doing so as I dont want to inadvertantly destroy data or eda1 volumes. As i updated my backup NAS RNSU6 today it stuck in shutting down. After rebboting manually it is stuck on displaying "Readynas". I would love to try an USB firmware recovery but the last version available is 6.7.4 as "Raidar Version". Any chance an update is to be released soon? i know it is unofficial, but the Backup NAS should be up again keeping all the data of my RNS516 in a save spot. I was forced to update to OS6 caused by incompabilities in the rsync protocoll. Hoping for a little help Skywalker mdgm-ntgr Thanks in advance Best BenediktSolved1.8KViews0likes6CommentsIllegal Host Name message after update to OS v6.8.1
After an update of the firmware to 6.8.1 we received a new message from all three of my NAS boxes: "The host name contains illegal characters. This may cause undefined behavior when using some network services. Please change the host name using only valid characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9, -)." The host name has not changed since the install of these boxes some years ago. Also on pages 164-165 of "ReadyNAS OS 6.8 Software Manual" (the latest August 2017 202-11207-15 edition) it states: "...In most non-Asian character sets, the host name can be a maximum of 15 characters, can include only A–Z, a–z, 0–9, and _, and the first character must be alphabetic. If you use Asian language characters, the limit is lower." Here are my host names: NAS_C_516 NAS_D_516 NAS_E_716 The manual seems to allow the under score, but the error message from 6.8.1 seems to allow only the dash. And this is new behavior since 6.8.1 What's up????Solved1.3KViews0likes2Comments
