Acronis Backup and Recovery
3 TopicsAcronis - what to buy
I maintain the computer systems for my church and I am doing research on Acronis' software. I don't understand the difference between their Backup & Recovery Workstation and Advanced Workstation packages. We have a ReadyNAS NV+, three Windows 7 systems and one Windows Vista computer that I want to purchase Acronis for. We have no server. I envision configuring each individual system non-remotely. However I would like to (if possible) remotely check from my laptop at home, the backups that are stored on the NV+ as well as be able to extract individual files. Can this be done with either package? TIA3.5KViews0likes3CommentsQuestion about storage node
Just had a read of Integrating Acronis with ReadyNAS. This is interesting. It sounds interesting. I'm curious as to why a storage node is needed to allow deduplication? Why can't a backup direct to the ReadyNAS involve deduplication? What specs would a storage node need? What OS would it need to run? Could I repurpose an old SBS 2003 server (wiping it and installing Server 2003, I guess) to use it as a storage node? If the storage node failed would I still be able to recover deduplicated data? I currently use Symantec Backup Exec. Is it possible to use deduplication and backup to a ReadyNAS using this?3.3KViews0likes2CommentsReadyNAS Pro: ACRONIS Access to shares using Administrator
Hello, We have a domain (Windows Server SBS 2003) with 40 computers approx (WINDOWS XP SP3). I had previously a NETGEAR ReadyNas NV+. Programming the ACRONIS (Backup & Recovery) was easy: use the server located next to the NAS and login with DOMAIN\Administrator to backup the content of the NAS. Now, I have just purchased a ReadyNAS Pro. About Acronis: I cannot login with DOMAIN\Administrator. I have to use NAS_NAME \ Administrator. I have seen that in the ReadyNAS Management Window, the SECURITY > SECURITY MODE has changed a little bit compared to the NV+ window: The domain has to be introduced in NETBIOS Name - I don't think it does change anything at this point. When I click on a share, then go to Property > Security: the usual administrator account (given as Administrator@Domain) seems not to be listed on the ReadyNas Pro. I can just see "Administrator". When I try to add the domain's administrator account, it is not added to the list. It seems that the Readynas' Administrator has taken the place of the Domain's Administrator: that's why I have to login with NAS_NAME \ Administrator in ACRONIS. Any advice ? Thank you very much in advance and B.R. Tony5.5KViews0likes1Comment
