Hi Everyone, Going to be honest here I am really dissapointed in this product and seems a lot of other people are based on the forums results of the A6210. Firstly on the previous version of the drivers with Windows 10 x64 the drivers would never detect from NetGear and Windows would install its own drivers. No matter how many times I did the reinstall, remove, delete, add. When they were working on the Windows drivers large downloads would fail randomly. Classic example "Origin" game client trying to update coudn't so it was stuck in off line mode. Downloading ISO would "always fail". Then only recently NetGear released a new updated version of their driver that now works with Windows 10. I was excited to give this shot and the drivers work straight away from W10 w/ Build 1703. Sadly the downoads will keep dropping out. I have been trying to download a ISO from Vmware for the last 4 hours and having to keep "re-trying" after every failure. I had to take my PC up stairs and connect the ethernet cable to get this to actually work. I have tried enabling Max USB Speed 3.0 (I have a intel chipest with C220 controller series 8)), PMF is off. The odd thing is the average response time to my router is under 1ms with a max od 3ms and 0% packet loss. The only other thing I can think of trying now is switching to the Mediatek drivers as NetGear are only OEMing their dongles from these guys. Any other tips people have come accross that might work would be appreciated. + Current Driver Version: 5.1.29.0 (15/09/2016) NetGear. + USB Root and USB 3.0 and USB Wireless Adapters all have power management set to disable. + Latest chipset drivers from intel installed Thanks,6.2KViews1like7CommentsFVX538 - Broken ... anyone know where to get replacement motherboard?
Not sure of Hardware version. Bought two of these FVX538 routers a 10 years ago ... was told they were Version 2. Label on bottom of case says Version 2. But, neither worked reliably with most recent firmware images ... only with version 3.05 - 28.4 (highest version recommended for Hardware Version 1) AND ... I just opened up the case of the router that failed and found the motherboard is a Version A1. But, if there is a replacement motherboard with the most recent hardware version available I would like to find the selling price & total cost to have it shipped to me. Does anyone know if there are parts availalbe for older Netgear products?4.8KViews0likes6CommentsWNDR4500v2: Wireless isolation doesn't work on guest network
Hi, I have used this Router now for about 9 months and have been very happy with its performance. We have a home business and students regularly visit our home. We have recently had requests for them to get on our WiFi (because cell reception is bad), and I wanted to use the "Guest Network" feature to accomplish this. Goals: --Guest network is for student needing to access the internet only. --Guest network will broadcast SSID and will be guarded with password, given to student at their request. --Multiple clients on guest network should not be able to see each other. Just client and the internet.....that's it. --Guests must be absolutely isolated from our regular WIRED network (plugged into the physical ports on the WNDR4500v2) and the regular WIRELESS network (via the WiFi on the WNDR4500v2). Assets on these internal networks (WIRED & WIRELESS) are lightly guarded and thus outside individuals must not be allowed to traverse these networks. CONFIGURATION: Router Model: WNDR4500v2 Firmware: V1.0.0.60_1.0.38 SETUP: -Regular Wifi "WIRELESS" is ON: "Enable Wireless Isolation" checkbox is OFF. -Guest WiFi "GUEST" is ON: "Enable Wireless Isolation" checkbox is ON. "Allow guest to access My Local Network" checkbox is OFF. -DHCP is ON -"Enable AP Mode" checkbox is OFF. Everything above seemed quite straightforward for easy configuration. However, it was a different story when I actually tested it. I used my iPad to get on the guest network. I used the application called "Fing" that does an IP address scan on the entire network. Once identifying an asset, you can then run a more detailed scan by attempting to access various services on various ports of the device. Immeidately, the guest network showed every device on my GUEST, WIRED, and WIRELESS networks (combination of fixed and DHCP addresses). Not good! I then ran a more detailed analysis of the devices found all standard open ports (smb shares, webserver, terminal services) cound indeed be accessed from the guest network. Is this a firmware bug? How do I deny guests access to everything but their connection to the internet? By the way, the "Help" on the router configuration screen appears to describe the checkbox functionality BACKWARDS of the description. (I tried it both ways, just in case, but to no avail.) Probably a previous version or person-who-did-interface didn't talk to person-who-did-help? "Allow guests to see each other and access my local network When unchecked, users connecting to this guest network can only access the Internet and cannot access any other devices in the same network or in other networks, including the main network and the wired network. In addition, all the clients in this guest network cannot access router's management GUI or any other services provided by the router (for example, ReadySHARE Storage, ReadySHARE Printer... if the router supports these functions). When checked, users connecting to this guest network can access not only the Internet but also all devices on all local networks, including the main network and the wired network." Good morning, ReadyCloud is effectively down and unusable for my client. Would appreciate any help you can provide ASAP! The day of the dreaded My.Netgear migration arrived. I was able to successfully upgrade the core ReadyCloud user to a My.Netgear account, upgraded the firmware from 6.4.0 to 6.5.0, rebooted, and asked 20ish users to go through the ReadyCloud to My.Netgear account migration. I found afterwards that they did not show up under ReadyCloud's Management page as being attached to any shares. Although the My.Netgear account appeared to be correctly associated with ReadyCloud on the local admin console, I turned off ReadyCloud, and disassociated the account. I reassociated it and added one user to one share. This user had previously been a ReadyCloud account, but we transitioned her to a My.Netgear account before the disassociation. Added user to the share via email address (same address as associated with her ReadyCloud and My.Netgear accounts) from the Management pane with Read/Write permissions. Afterwards, the user received the verification email from ReadyCloud, and the envelope icon showed up on the share in the Management pane. The user successfully verified and now the envelope icon is correctly changed to the person with the cloud icon, however if you log onto that user's My.Netgear account you see that no shares are available. I repeated this process with my own email address, which had never been attached to ReadyCloud. I was correctly prompted to create a My.Netgear account, and I was able to add myself to the share with Read/Write permissions and see it while logged into my My.Netgear account with no issues. I suspect the best solution would be to permanently wipe out the old ReadyCloud accounts associated with this client and have them build fresh My.Netgear ones, but I can't find any mechanism to do so. I am certainly not going to request the customer pay for support when the system is broken on Netgear's end! Please let me know if there are any other steps I can try or any other insights you can provide. Thanks! Oscar3.5KViews0likes7Comments
