1 TopicNighthawk 11AC 1900 WiFi Range Extender with DGND4000 query
Tried to send this as an email to pre sales but it bounced!! I have a Netgear DGND4000 router connected to a DM200 modem (I upgraded from standard ADSL to FTTC (VDSL)) As the router does not support 802.11ac all the mobile phones and tablets in my house are running at limited speed so I was looking to switch the WI-FI to 802.11ac by adding the Nighthawk 11AC 1900 WiFi Range Extender. As the router does not support 802.11ac I was considering attaching the Extender to the router by Ethernet, turning off the route WI-FI and renaming the SSID of the extender to what I had in the router. *) Presumably this will allow the WI-fi to get the best speed out of the router *) Will the router still be acting as a DHCP server and firewall? *) Will all the existing address reservations setup in the router be used or does the extender take over this job and I have to put them all in again. *) Also can I leave the router Guest network wi-fi on and it be "ignored" by the extender (It has a different SSID)2.3KViews0likes2Comments
