I got an Inspiron 5567 Laptop with Windows 10 x64 for Christmas. Since then, the laptop crashes my Netgear R7000 router daily. At that point cannot login to the router at 192.168.1.1 (no response). I can Ping it. I can connect between all devices Wired/Wifi on my LAN. Powering the router off/on resolves the problem. I have factory reset the router and also tested a new R700P Netgear Router. No joy! My LAN includes 3 Laptops and 4 Desktop PCs using DropBox, one with Windows 7, the rest Windows 10. I have found that DropBox on the laptop causes the crash. DropBox usage at this point is only an occasional, perhaps weekly, update to my 25 KB SafeInCloud password file in the cloud. Below I have shown the DB discovery protocol trace for two IPs. IP 192.168.1.17, as an example, and the other 5 PCs have 2 trys. Only 192.168.1.50 (The Laptop) shows multiple trys. The laptop typically has 4 trys. This one capture is 6 trys, and I suspect it goes crazy sometimes and causes the crash. I have done a clean reset of windows on the laptop, worked with Dell to get the latest drivers, etc., and the problem still exists. Cannot turn on Dropbox. I'm attempting to set up a Dropbox sync with our RN21400 ReadyNAS for backups. After going to admin page and going to the cloud tab, I'm trying to enable "Sync with Dropbox" but after switching this from "off" to "on" a pop-up redirect page for Dropbox authorization appears and just hangs. this happens with Chrome and Internet Explorer. I have also tried a different computer. I also to add the Google public DNS 8.8.8.8 as primary as well just in case.2.2KViews0likes10CommentsDropbox Sync Won't Update
I recently upgraded my ReadyNAS to OS 6.8.0 and use a Mac to connect to the ReadyNAS. I have set up the Dropbox Sync on my ReadyNAS 526X. I have a single folder on Dropbox syncing to the corresponding folder on the ReadyNAS. I have it set up to only download cloud changes to the ReadyNAS. It works fine for the initial sync and everything in my selected Dropbox folder appears in the corresponding filder on my ReadyNAS. However, after the first sync, no further updates to sync down to the ReadyNAS. I have added new documents to the Dropbox folder and reorganized some files into new folders and none of those changes appear on the ReadyNAS. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there something I have done wrong in the setup process? Any assistance would be appreciated. Regards, David5.5KViews0likes8CommentsDropbox sync hangs - Firmware 6.7.5
My ReadyNas 204 (firmware 6.7.5) still hangs on syncing with dropbox. The total size of the folder is 185GB updating 19GB every day (max filesize is 2GB). I have to restart it every 2/3 days, then it works but after some time hangs on again. Connection to internet is optic fiber 100Mbit/s. Any help wold be appreciated. Hello, I've a NAS RN214, used to store big media files (videos, audio). I synced with Dropbox all the medias in the NAS (4 TB). The dropbox cloud service is set in "push only". Dropbox should copy all the new files (or the modiefied ones). Every time I restart the NAS, Dropbox starts uploading all the files!! :-( I tried different setup without solve the issue. It a big issue because, with my home-line, I need 150-200 days to upload everything! I can't understand what else to do. Any ideas?4KViews0likes8CommentsBackup to DropBox
Can someone interpret the info bubble on the Dropbox cloud feature in the Cloud section of OS 6? "Selecting root folder will sync entire public cloud, preventing you from adding new sessions" I have posted here before and was directed to ask Dropbox. Their forum directs me back to ReadyNAS/Netgear as "it is their implementation". What does "adding new sessions" mean? I seem to be able to add new folders in either ReadyNAS or Dropbox with bidirectional sync on...so am not sure. When the term "public cloud" is used, I am confused as both my ReadyNAS and Dropbox have shares that are not public. Some interpretation would be appreciated.SolvedDropbox corrupting share permissions...
Hey guys, I've discovered an interesting situation that is quite frustrating. It seems that when you have strict permissions on a share, the embedded DB client will overwrite them with explicit permissions. Does anyone know what credentials the embedded DB client runs as? Here are the complete details as far as I have been able to replicate the issues. It's a bit long but I want to give as many details as possible to the Devs. Hardware: Model - ReadyNAS316 Firmware - 6.7.4 Configuration: AD Authentication enabled Share - /bob Network Access Tab - SMB only, user Bob R/W with no other users given any permissions. File Access Tab - Owner Bob, Group BobsGroup, user Bob R/W with no other users given any permissions. Cloud Config: Dropbox enabled Local Path - /data/Bob/Dropbox Sync Direction - Bidirection Layout: User Bob has W7 and W10 workstations off-site with Dropbox client installed. On-site he has X: mapped to \\{ReadyNAS}\Bob. The Scenario/Issue: Running locally, all works as expected. Any files placed in X:\Dropbox sync to the DB Cloud and back down to his home workstations with no issues. Files dropped on his Windows clients at home however cause an issue. They do sync up to the DB Cloud and subsequently to X:\Dropbox, though that part is not immediately evident, as ALL files immediately disappear from X:\. Yes, the root of the share displays empty, not just the \Dropbox folder. The fix for this is to go into the Admin console (which still shows the share access as I have created it, unmolested) and apply Everyone R/W to the File Access (which causes all the files to imediately repopulate if he has Windows Explorer open to view the folder), then remove Everyone and re-secure with Bob R/W. When looking at the logs you see nothing other than successes for any sync'ed files: Date, Time, Downloading /data/Bob/Dropbox/Document1.doc... Date, Time, /data/Bob/Dropbox/Document1.doc was downloaded to local. Now the REALLY strange part: When the folder is blanked out, if Bob locally copies any files to X:\, they are there. But when you do the access fix, they vanish and all the original files come back. Then, the next time access 'breaks', those new files return. None of these issues happen if you leave /Bob with the credentials Everyone R/W. It is only when you lock it down. My guess is there is some built-in credential in the embedded DB client that forces exclusive, low-level access to a share if it doesn't already have permission. Unfortunately, the Admin console does not display this new ACL. What it should be doing is appending it's credentials, or from the DB client config you should be able to specify what credentials it uses on the ReadyNAS side. The kicker is, however, once you have AD Authentication enabled, there does not appear to be any way to add the existing local accounts to a share. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix available? This might be something requiring SSH would be my guess but then my warranty would be void which doesn't seem right. Thanks in advance!Syncing Dropbox
RN312 When I sync from the Dropbox root directory, I see the message in the app: syncing the root folder will sync the entire public cloud, preventing you from adding new sessions. Am not sure what this means. Does "public cloud" mean that syncing changes permissions on either the Dropbox or the ReadyNAS? And what is "adding new sessions"? -Does this mean that I can not add new folders to either the Dropbox or to the ReadyNAS Dropbox share (assuming bidirectional syncing) or does it mean something else? -Thanks
