With parental controls enabled, all devices connected to the router report “untrusted or invalid certificate” when attempting to access the internet. Disabling parental controls on the router clears the error and then re-enabling allows devices to access normally . All devices report the error every morning as long as parental controls are enabled. Firmware v4.6.14.4. The certificate error is associated with Circle Labs and appears to have too long of an active period - 20 years. How can we get an updated, trusted and valid certificate?Re-register router and set up parental controls
I moved to a new (new to me*) house. The previous owner left a Nighthawk x6 R8000 router. I am unable to register as the previous owner already had done so. I am unsure if I need to register. Please advise. I also need to know how to enable parental controls. When I click on the link (through a brower [Genie] ad through the nighthawk app.)it takes me to a page explaining the benefits of PC but no instructions how to enable. Please assist!Disable or remove Bitdefender
Armor Bitdefender is driving me crazy. Netgear doesn't support the software. You have to talk to Armor Bitdefender Support (Chinese, no understand English). Totally frustrated. There seems to be no way to delete or disable this POS. It runs checks on my Windows 8 desktop lasting hours right after Microsoft antimalware takes computer captive for hours. Bitdefender interferes with my normal web activity, denying access to my favorite forums saying "dangerous" witth no ability to override. Welcome to Chinese Internet. I have no idea what information is being collected and reported on my equipment and activities. I immediately requested stop to automatic annual subscription renewal. But with first year "free", cannot remove or disable. Why would Netgear partner with Chinese to surveil user activity? This is nuts. I just bought RAX1200 and really regretting it. Have had Netgear routers and cable modems for decades. But this Bitdefender crap means I will never buy another Netgear device. Installed Startthings Hub and Alexa and nosy Bitdefender reports it noticed installation of new devices on network. DUH. What I intentionally did.2.8KViews0likes5CommentsScheduled Access Control
From reading posts going back for years across dozens of products, I have divined that Access Control in my new-but-now-discontinued Orbi router, specifically device access control on a schedule, is purposefully crippled in order to drive people to purchase a subscription to parental controls. It's such a simple feature that has been available in every non-ISP router I have ever had and I'm sorry to see such in a Netgear product. Before I go the Parental Control subscription route, I would like to just confirm that scheduling access of devices, e.g., no access from 11:00pm - 7:00am, is not possible on my RBR850 router. Thanks for the info!SolvedUnable to connect circle app with Nighthawk R7960P Router
I am using the Nighthawk R7960P router with the Circle app. I have been using the circle app for over two years, and I turned off the internet for my son's laptop. Now the circle app is not able to connect Netgear router. I always get an error message saying, "Can't connect Circle". I tried clearing the cache, reinstalling the app, and installing the app on android and iOS devices, but no luck. Any help on this issue? Thanks Satish1.2KViews0likes1CommentParental controls for R6900v2
Today, I upgraded my Nighthawk R6900v2 firmware to V1.2.0.92_1.0.1 1. The R6900v2 documentation dated Feb 2022 says I should be able to use parental controls https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/R6900v2/R6900v2_UM_EN.pdf 2. When I click on parental controls in my updated NetGear genie, it says my firmware does not support Live Parental Controls, and says the following: Checking router firmware We're making sure you have firmware that supports Live Parental Controls. Your router's current firmware does not support Live Parental Controls. Please go to http://www.netgear.com/ to download the latest firmware or use the "Router "Upgrade" feature in your routers web GUI at http://www.routerlogin.net/ to update the firmware first. 3. This webpage says the R6900v2 is not supported for Circle Smart parental controls https://kb.netgear.com/000044718/Which-NETGEAR-routers-support-Circle-Smart-Parental-Controls 4. This URL says: NOTE: The Live Parental Controls service is no longer supported on NETGEAR devices as of December 31, 2021 due to low usage. Support for Live Parental Controls has been removed from the NETGEAR genie app and from updated firmware versions. NETGEAR Smart Parental Controls is the replacement for the Live Parental Controls service. For more information, see Support for Live Parental Controls ends April 1, 2021. https://kb.netgear.com/25687/How-do-I-set-up-Live-Parental-Controls-on-my-NETGEAR-router-using-the-genie-desktop-app So, even though the User manual for the R6900v2 says I should be able to use parental controls, all the available documentation says this model does not have currently have support. Is there any other 3rd party way to set this up, or am I stuck with no parental controls vs having to purchase a new unit? Thanks in advance.1.2KViews0likes0CommentsNetgear Armor Management Interface
I am baffled by the Armor management interface. I have a long list. First, It shows both my old Netgear R6400V2 and my newer Orbi RBR750. I don't seem to be able to delete the R6400V2. On top of that, it shows my devices (with recent scan dates) connected to the R6400V2 which has been disconnect for almost a year. What is that all about? When I go to "My Subscriptions", it shows expired Armor and Mobile Security subscriptions with no way to delete or remove those. Again, WTF? Finally, for this post anyway, it never seems to update device names. I went through and changed the name of my Apple devices, but the management interface still uses the old names. I mean really, Do I have to pay technical support to figure out how to clean up the content in the Armor management interface?1.4KViews0likes1CommentCan only extend rewards once a day bug

Not that I completely trust email I got from ISP stating they detected Malwear Bot coming from my network, but gave no indication of which device on my network might be responsible. I did recently plug a Firestick into HDMI port of wireless IP TV, that I suspect "could" have malwear installed. ISP wants me to load their 'scan tool', but that would only scan the one pc loaded on, and will not scan all the other devices on my network, from multiple wired pcs, cameras (also recently installed chinese IP cameras that 'could' have malwear, SamKnows test router, printers, voip system. Also have numerious wireless devices from phones, laptops, printers, TVs, cameras, range extenders, security system.... Can't seem to find easy software program to run AV/Malwear scan on the LAN network, and seems to me any scan needs to be run at Router level to help detect melious devices on the LAN network. Wondering if NetGear has such a LAN scan tool built in, or option to get a scan tool or subscription in the router. I know when I first purchased, Netgear wore me out to subscribe to extended service and NetArmor. Not sure what NetArmor really is, and if it can SCAN and IDENTIFY suspect devices on the entire LAN network, wired and wireless, or does it just protect instrusion attempts thru firewall? (they wore me out so severly, I was debating to replace $200 router to something else, pretty bad bad marketing IMO, only 90 day tech support was also pretty lame to me also, trying to hook you into support subscription) Needless to say, I let NetArmor expire without every trying to use. If it turns out to be the program I need, how do I get reinstalled/subscribed? If NetArmor is not sutable to SCAN and IDENTIFY (maybe it just protects traffic over firewall... IDK), then is there a suggestion of another program(Netgear or something else) to scan LAN at router level to identfy suspect devices? If so, how to use, load, run at router level? I thought of wireshark, but not sure what suspect malwear traffic would look like. I figure it would have to be some program simular to wireshark, that can run both active on the spot scan, and passivly monitor traffic, on the chance that a removable device from the network, suddenly is connected and knows signature files, outbountd IPs of Virus and Malwear, to report back to LAN admin. In the back of my mind, I could imagine a relative visits with infected phone, connects to my guest WAP, and my ISP sees this malwear traffic... Firmware Version V1.0.11.106_10.2.100 Thanks in advance Brian1.7KViews0likes2Comments
