I have an RBR50 and two RBS50 satellites that work great. I purchased a Parental Controls subscription about 2 years ago, and I noticed in the last 3 months that it no longer works. I have been attempting to fix this issue for a few weeks now but to no avail. Specifically, I have reset my Orbi system several times, and I have updated my firmware twice. The router and two satellites are now running the latest v2.7.5.4 Completely stumped and frustrated…551Views0likes1CommentCan't activate Netgear Armor after being forced to downgrade firmware on cable modem router (CAX30)
Nighthawk CAX30 cable modem router (I can only select the CAX30S as an Associated Product but this is definitely a CAX30). Formerly, firmware 2.3.10. Purchased Netgear Armor to be sure that was -not- the issue. Followed both steps in Netgear's kb about CAX30 not connecting to internet. Downgraded firmware to 1.4.11.2 based on suggestion from users in Netgear and/or Xfinity forums. Only did so after all other suggestions from Netgear and Xfinity had no impact on the issue. My Netgear Armor subscription is no longer recognized by my Nighthawk CAX30. My preference would be for a full refund because I bought it under the impression that something was faulty on my end. It now appears there was something faulty on Netgear's end, given that the firmware is no longer available for download. I'm currently staring at a bright red banner in this forum that says, "We are aware of an issue affecting Nighthawk CAX30 Cable Modem Routers that may have resulted in an interruption of internet service. For instructions to restore Internet connectivity click here." but the linked kb article says nothing about downgrading from a retracted firmware. This feels like an oversight at best, disingenuous and false advertising at worst given that Netgear is failing to disclose that the fault appears to lie in their own firmware, not a subsequent setting. Also notable that the now-retracted firmware (2.3.10) was in response to a serious security flaw (PSV-2022-0195) and I'm now being forced to choose between exposing myself to this vulnerability -OR- purchasing a brand new, usable device. How do I get a refund for a purchase I would never have made if it weren't for a faulty product?1.7KViews0likes2CommentsUnable to connect circle app with Nighthawk R7960P Router
I am using the Nighthawk R7960P router with the Circle app. I have been using the circle app for over two years, and I turned off the internet for my son's laptop. Now the circle app is not able to connect Netgear router. I always get an error message saying, "Can't connect Circle". I tried clearing the cache, reinstalling the app, and installing the app on android and iOS devices, but no luck. Any help on this issue? Today, I upgraded my Nighthawk R6900v2 firmware to V1.2.0.92_1.0.1 1. The R6900v2 documentation dated Feb 2022 says I should be able to use parental controls https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/R6900v2/R6900v2_UM_EN.pdf 2. When I click on parental controls in my updated NetGear genie, it says my firmware does not support Live Parental Controls, and says the following: Checking router firmware We're making sure you have firmware that supports Live Parental Controls. Your router's current firmware does not support Live Parental Controls. Please go to http://www.netgear.com/ to download the latest firmware or use the "Router "Upgrade" feature in your routers web GUI at http://www.routerlogin.net/ to update the firmware first. 3. This webpage says the R6900v2 is not supported for Circle Smart parental controls https://kb.netgear.com/000044718/Which-NETGEAR-routers-support-Circle-Smart-Parental-Controls 4. This URL says: NOTE: The Live Parental Controls service is no longer supported on NETGEAR devices as of December 31, 2021 due to low usage. Support for Live Parental Controls has been removed from the NETGEAR genie app and from updated firmware versions. NETGEAR Smart Parental Controls is the replacement for the Live Parental Controls service. For more information, see Support for Live Parental Controls ends April 1, 2021. https://kb.netgear.com/25687/How-do-I-set-up-Live-Parental-Controls-on-my-NETGEAR-router-using-the-genie-desktop-app So, even though the User manual for the R6900v2 says I should be able to use parental controls, all the available documentation says this model does not have currently have support. Is there any other 3rd party way to set this up, or am I stuck with no parental controls vs having to purchase a new unit? Thanks in advance.1.2KViews0likes0CommentsRAX48 Smart Parental Controls Not Tracking Time
Hi, I have owned the RAX48 router for about a year and decided to start the free trial of the Smart Parental Controls on 10/13/2021. Initially the time was not being tracked on the first day, I took it for a glitch as it was resolved after a reboot. I noticed that the Usage section of the app was not reporting any time under Apps & Websites, but was showing time reporting in Categories. I put it down to a glitch and since it was working, I wouldn't worry about it. As of 10/26/2021, the router misreported tracking time for any of the profiles for my children on the network. Initially the time would track and then not pause access to the internet once a time limit was reached. We were seeing sites being accessed in the Usage section of the app, even after the time limit was reached. This appeared to be resolved after a reboot, since the usage was then recognized and each profile was paused until the next day. As of 10/27/2021, the router stopped tracking completely and showed that all profiles had 0 minutes of use. We are also seeing no usage tracked and I can only assume that there is no blocking on restricted sites. To attempt to resolve this issue on 10/27/2021 I performed a firmware update to V1.0.4.100_2.0.64. I then created a backup of the router settings and performed a "Revert to factory default settings". After restoring the backup after the initial setup, I reconnected my app to the SPC and the profiles were loaded. As I write this, there has been no traffic tracked on any of the children's profiles. There is neither time tracked, or usage tracked. Ironically I had been happy with my experience up until now and was planning to pay for an annual subscription. Unless this can be resolved soon, I shall have to look into another solution. Please let me know if there is anything I can supply to aid in the troubleshooting of this issue. I have an R7000 WiFi-Router (Firmware V1.0.11.110_10.2.100) with Armor installed. Working good. I also have a NAS RN212 (ReadyNAS OS 6.10.4) with 2 Ethernet cards. I've read the 2 NIC's can be linked/aggregated using a router that is capable of that. This would result in one virtual connection to (almost) double the transfer rate. I don't know much about link aggregation. I've searched and read, but most of what I have found is here on the Netgear site in User Guides for these products. However, I have not found any Netgear WiFi-Routers with Armor and LACP/LAG. Do any exist? I think the R7000 (which does not have link aggregation) is not able to supply the fastest performance for the NAS. I have both NAS Ethernet cards connected, but it doesn't seem to be using both of them. Question 1: I think I would like to find another Netgear router with Armor and LACP / LAG (and faster WiFi). I found the R8500, it has link aggregation, but does not have Armor. Will the R8500 be given firmware update to include Armor? (It did not come up in searches on Netgear site. Found it in a web search and located its info buried on Netgear. Is it even an active product or discontinued?) Question 2: Is there a another way to connect the NAS to the R7000 that will increase speed? If I bond the 2 Ethernet cards in the NAS, is that same/similar to LACP or LAG? Will that work with the R7000? If I do that, do I connect the NAS with 1 or 2 Ethernet cables? I have been unable to find complete details on using the bonding method. I know, too many questions, but many thanks in advance. I could really use some input here. Grateful for your attention and support. 👍2.6KViews0likes2CommentsCircle 1st Gen App (2.1.10) arbitrarily blocking websites on RBR50 with 3x RBS50 (firmware 2.7.1.60)
Hi I upgraded our Orbi RBK50 system (2.7.1.60) and Circle 1st Gen (2.1.10) to latest firmware versions to address intermittent web disconnections. It has not fixed the problem. Disabling Circle fixes the problem. I would like to keep Circle as we find the service useful - when it works. I have also tried resetting Circle to factory defaults, clearing device histories/cache...but connection problems persist (with Circle enabled). Anyone running into same problems with similar setup?Solved5.6KViews1like7CommentsAnother complain:Ax6000 No Circle!!! 👎🏻👎🏻
Paid $7700 for AX6000. Felt cheated that it does not include Circle parental control after set up. Misleading website. Marketed as a router for future, why would Netgear omit this basic tool included in other competitors’ router? Fix it on air ASAP pls!!!1.3KViews0likes1CommentR7000 - Disney Circle - Internet speeds through router slowdown
Creating a new thread to focus on this one issue. I don't believe this is a general slow wifi/slow internet issue, but is clearly Circle related. All tests done on wired connection via my Netgear R7000. I have a cable internet plan advertised as 150/15. This was all done on firmware 1.0.9.14, and I did a factory reset and setup my options yesterday fresh. I have never enabled QoS or Web Traffic. I do have IPv6 configured and it works. Circle was enabled now for 24 hours. Speed slowly sinks down to 37Mbps. I see this speedtest: Turn off Circle via webpage on router and hit apply. This saves quickly, no reboot of router. Now I see full speed, and see how solid the download speed is? I turn Circle back on, hit apply and I get this speed test. All tests run inside 2 minutes: Turn Circle back off, and retest. Going to leave it off for 24 hours now to test: Looking for any support from Netgear if this is expected, and if it is fixable. Willing to help test if needed, as Cirlce seems like a great feature.20KViews2likes43Comments
