2 TopicsConnecting two GS724Tv3 switches together via fibre
Hi everyone, I've never been to this forum before so please bare with me! Owing to distance (greater than 100m less than 175m) I would like to connect (cascade) 2 GS724Tv3 switches together via the SFP fibre channel(s). I've never attempted this before as such have very little experiance, I am not sure if this is even possible hence my call for help. If it is possible I'm interested to know: 1) Which SFP modules at each end would I need to accomplish such a task I believe there are several available? 2) Which type of multimode (number of cores) fibre cable I would need? 3) The type of termination of the cable at each end (I can purchase pre-terminated multimode cable) 4) Is this the right solution for cascading these switches over this disrtance or have I got it completely wrong? (this would be the only switch cascade in operation there is very little existing infrastructure in place, it is a factory environment) 5) Are there any throughput or any other issues I should be aware of impacting on the network? 6) Any other advcie? apart from 'don't do it' :smileyvery-happy: would be greatly received I hope someone can help me or steer me in the right direction, thank you kindly in advance Regards JonSolved5.3KViews0likes4Comments"Voice VLAN" alternative missing for GS724Tv3
I've just updated the firmware of a GS724Tv3 to 5.0.3.2. According to this kb document (pdf) that version should have the Voice VLAN feature, but in the menu under Switching the Voice VLAN alternative is missing. Why? In my investigations I noticed that current Boot Version for the device is 5.0.3.2 while the current Software Version is 4.1.0.9. I don't understand what that means. Is "Software Version" just another way of saying "saved secondary image of firmware that is NOT active right now"? Or is that version active in any way, for example controlling the settings UI and therefor explaines why Voice VLAN is missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Solved5.8KViews0likes4Comments
