I am using the Nighthawk R7960P router with the Circle app. I have been using the circle app for over two years, and I turned off the internet for my son's laptop. Now the circle app is not able to connect Netgear router. I always get an error message saying, "Can't connect Circle". I tried clearing the cache, reinstalling the app, and installing the app on android and iOS devices, but no luck. Any help on this issue? Hi, I have owned the RAX48 router for about a year and decided to start the free trial of the Smart Parental Controls on 10/13/2021. Initially the time was not being tracked on the first day, I took it for a glitch as it was resolved after a reboot. I noticed that the Usage section of the app was not reporting any time under Apps & Websites, but was showing time reporting in Categories. I put it down to a glitch and since it was working, I wouldn't worry about it. As of 10/26/2021, the router misreported tracking time for any of the profiles for my children on the network. Initially the time would track and then not pause access to the internet once a time limit was reached. We were seeing sites being accessed in the Usage section of the app, even after the time limit was reached. This appeared to be resolved after a reboot, since the usage was then recognized and each profile was paused until the next day. As of 10/27/2021, the router stopped tracking completely and showed that all profiles had 0 minutes of use. We are also seeing no usage tracked and I can only assume that there is no blocking on restricted sites. To attempt to resolve this issue on 10/27/2021 I performed a firmware update to V1.0.4.100_2.0.64. I then created a backup of the router settings and performed a "Revert to factory default settings". After restoring the backup after the initial setup, I reconnected my app to the SPC and the profiles were loaded. As I write this, there has been no traffic tracked on any of the children's profiles. There is neither time tracked, or usage tracked. Ironically I had been happy with my experience up until now and was planning to pay for an annual subscription. Unless this can be resolved soon, I shall have to look into another solution. Please let me know if there is anything I can supply to aid in the troubleshooting of this issue. Not that I completely trust email I got from ISP stating they detected Malwear Bot coming from my network, but gave no indication of which device on my network might be responsible. I did recently plug a Firestick into HDMI port of wireless IP TV, that I suspect "could" have malwear installed. ISP wants me to load their 'scan tool', but that would only scan the one pc loaded on, and will not scan all the other devices on my network, from multiple wired pcs, cameras (also recently installed chinese IP cameras that 'could' have malwear, SamKnows test router, printers, voip system. Also have numerious wireless devices from phones, laptops, printers, TVs, cameras, range extenders, security system.... Can't seem to find easy software program to run AV/Malwear scan on the LAN network, and seems to me any scan needs to be run at Router level to help detect melious devices on the LAN network. Wondering if NetGear has such a LAN scan tool built in, or option to get a scan tool or subscription in the router. I know when I first purchased, Netgear wore me out to subscribe to extended service and NetArmor. Not sure what NetArmor really is, and if it can SCAN and IDENTIFY suspect devices on the entire LAN network, wired and wireless, or does it just protect instrusion attempts thru firewall? (they wore me out so severly, I was debating to replace $200 router to something else, pretty bad bad marketing IMO, only 90 day tech support was also pretty lame to me also, trying to hook you into support subscription) Needless to say, I let NetArmor expire without every trying to use. If it turns out to be the program I need, how do I get reinstalled/subscribed? If NetArmor is not sutable to SCAN and IDENTIFY (maybe it just protects traffic over firewall... IDK), then is there a suggestion of another program(Netgear or something else) to scan LAN at router level to identfy suspect devices? If so, how to use, load, run at router level? I thought of wireshark, but not sure what suspect malwear traffic would look like. I figure it would have to be some program simular to wireshark, that can run both active on the spot scan, and passivly monitor traffic, on the chance that a removable device from the network, suddenly is connected and knows signature files, outbountd IPs of Virus and Malwear, to report back to LAN admin. In the back of my mind, I could imagine a relative visits with infected phone, connects to my guest WAP, and my ISP sees this malwear traffic... I have spent several sleepless nights trying to get my new orbi mesh network to work purchased from costco for $499 with the Circle device. It clearly states on the Netgear Site that orbi works with Circle products. I spent more than 3 hours this morning, basically all of Friday night, with Netgear support and no resolution to getting my internet service working via the Wifi. I have a 1st generation Circle device and as soon as I turn it on, the wifi access to internet completely stops. What is going on with this? When I ask them if there are issues with Circle they state there are none. For $500 for this system which is there no compabitibility going on with a basic parental device. Before connecting the circle device, the Orbi system worked fine. I guess I am going to have to wait a little more and try again with Support, see if it can be resolved and if not then return it and try a different brand if Netgear blatenly states false information about the ability to use Circle products with the Orbi Line of products. I will be sure to detail out there on the web and social medai if this Circle is not supported. Netgear should be providing clear information on support about these issues, and not provide false information. Has anyone faced this topic or found solutions to it yet? For half a grand this is unbelievable.1.5KViews0likes1Comment"Can't connect to Circle" / "Not connected to Circle!"
Circle's been running FINE for weeks. All of a sudden starting a couple of weeks ago - it doesn't work - can't connect from either my Yoga tablet or my Samsung Galaxy S8 (both Android, neither's updated their OS recently, I've not updated the Netgear firmware recently either). I haven't changed a THING. Have tried rebooting the Nighthawk X6 R8000 (yes, including unplugging it for a full minute). Have fully disabled Parental Controls and then re-enabling it. I've uninstalled and re-installed the app on the tablet, no success. I see other people've had this problem but don't see a solution (yet) in searching through it. I do NOT understand why "RECONNECT" is so useless. (I'd also like a refund of a month of fees! :-)).4.8KViews1like4CommentsCircle with Disney no longer working
hi, I have an R7000 AC1900 nighthawk with latest firmware, that has circle with disney built in. When i first set it up via the app on my phone almost a month ago, it worked good. I was able to pause devices. Now when i pause a device, it doesnt pause the device. The internet still works on it. The app also looses connection to the router even though the wifi and internet is working on my router and my phone is connected to the correct wifi and has internet in other apps... I have tried power cycling the router and even deleting the app and reinstalling it on my phone. But it still wont pause devices. What do i do now? ALSO FYI- i am not able to select my router in the model menu above. when i type R7000 it will only give me R7000P/AC2300 which is not the model router i have.1.9KViews0likes1CommentRBR50 Circle not enforcing time limits on Amazon Fire Stick
I have an Amazon Fire Stick mostly used for streaming Netflix. Circle is completely unable to manage this device. I can see it in the app and apply policies to it but policies have absolutely no effect. As a test I put a 1 hour time limit this morning. The device played S3 of Daredevil nonstop. Thats about 12 hours! I manually paused it about 4 hours ago. Still streaming. If I turn off the internet, streaming stops in about 90 seconds so its not a cache issue. Other devices work well. Any ideas?1.5KViews0likes1CommentCircle setup endless loop
I am attempting to setup Circle on my router. Router is R6400v2 (Nighthawk AC1750) with firmware V1.0.2.60_10.0.44. (The dropdown menu does not provide this option) Circle is enabled on the router under the Parental Controls tab. Agent Version: 2.0.8.9 App Database Version: 1.3.1 I am using the Circle iOS app to complete setup: iOS v 11.4.1 Circle App v 2.0.17 I get as far as the Enable Circle section and it endlessly loops. This appears to be the same issue in this thread. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi/Orbi-Circle-setup-loops-in-app/m-p/1491252 In this thread, the user did nothing and the issue resolved itself on Jan 23, 2018. I have recreated the same steps as above user (doing nothing until Jan 23, 2018) yet my issue still persists. Please advise.Solved3.8KViews0likes3Comments
