I had a Nighthawk RAX70 installed in June 2022. It is running fine. Looking through the original literature today I see there is an app available for the iPhone. Can the app be installed on my mobile phone for an existing installation? Everything I see suggests the installation of the router and the app are done at the same time. I don't want to install the app and mess up my router installation. How do I install the app and not affect the router? Is having the app of any benefit? There are comments pro and con. (The original install was not done by me. If the installer used the Nighthawk app, no information was passed on to me). Thank you.1KViews0likes1CommentNighthawk CAX80 and Nighthawk app
Yesterday I installed my new Nighthawk CAX80 modem/router with RCN ISP. When setting up the router the app didn’t seem to work so I decided to co tibie setup on the web using the router login.net page. Set up was complete, initially had no internet but after a few minutes with RCN support they activated the router properly and now I’m getting decent downloads speeds. Now that everything setup and running I have noticed 2 things: I try to access the app and when opening the Nighthawk app it gives 2 options - initial setup or sign in - Since my router is already setup and running I choose dig in and the app scans for devices “routers and can’t locate any” and after that it stuck in that page and I have to restart the app. Restarting the app and choosing the other option -initial set up- since the sign in option didn’t work, starts the set up process and at some point it ask to join a wifi network for my router but it gets stuck in that page and I have to force close the app and re start it again going into the same loop of events. Any suggestions on how May I get this app to work. I do t want to go again to the process of resetting the router to factory settings and setting it up again from the beginning because at the end I feel like illl have to do the web set up at some point which was easier than trying to use the app. But I do want to have the option of the app on my phone, feel like it might be useful at some point. Looking forward for some insight on this matter.1.1KViews0likes1CommentiPhone Nighthawk App sends security code to retired iphone & sends code via email that never arrives
My Netgear Nighthawk 9000 router is up-to-date and functional. I have been accessing the settings fields using routerlogin address via MS Edge. I installed the Nighthawk iPhone app on my iPhone 12 and signed in using my login and password. The app responded with a request to send a security code because it didn't recognize my iPhone. It sent the code to my retired iPhone. Retries brought the same outcome. Next, I tried the alternate method of sending the code via email. The app had my correct email address, but the code never arrived. Retries brought the same outcome. How does this get resolved? Thanks!803Views0likes1CommentNighthawk iPhone app can't see R7850, but I can access router on computer browser & iPhone Safari
I have a Nighthawk R7850 router. I recently upgraded to a Spectrum 1G modem. (I had Spectrum's 300 mbps modem and service before the upgrade.) The speed directly from the new modem is 1G. The speed from the Nighthawk reads a little under 300 mbps (direct connection or via wifi.) It was recommended that I reset the router, which usually resolves the problem. That's where I got into trouble. My speed via the router is still reading at less than 300 mbps. Also - I reset the router and set it up using a browser because I couldn't get the Nighthawk App to see it. I can connect to the router via my computer's browser or my iPhone's Safari browser and change or look at the settings. However, the Nighthawk app can't see the router. Plus, the app gets stuck in a loop. I sign in, attempt to go to the dashboard but it tries to locate the router, can't, and asks me to try again. It thinks I am not on the correct wifi but I am. I can't get to the app's settings or menu. I tried the Connect with Anywhere Access but it says there are no devices with Anywhere Access Enabled. I'm directed to go to the app's menu, but I can't because the app keeps searching for the router and will keep looping back to that screen. *I've tried all the trouble shooting advice listed on Netgear's support site (enable local network access on your iphone, check to see if you are logged into the guest network or have the wrong wifi connected, check the device connectivity, make certain bridge mode is not engaged, I've rebooted everything etc.) *I completely uninstalled the Nighthawk app from my cell phone and even from iCloud and reinstalled. * I reset the router and tried again. *I have the current version of router firmware and the app is up to date. *The wifi info from my iphone has an IP address of 192.168.1.4 and the router is 192.168.1.1 *iPhone 12 Pro iOS 15.5 *I noticed my A Security is not activated when I look at my router's settings on a browser Any ideas? I hope this makes sense. Thank you.1.1KViews0likes2Comments2 routers, parental control need & problems accessing subnet devices
Hello, I have acquired a R7000 for parental control. I have connected it to my IAP modem that is also a router, which can't be be set in bridge or AP mode. R7000 must be kept in router mode to enable parental control. So none of the routers of my home network can be switched to bridge of AP mode. The only solution I found was to create two subnets. Subnet 1 behind the modem and subnet 2 behind the R7000, R7000 WAN port being connected to the modem. All works fine for subnet 2 devices (access to internet, to the other devices of the subnet 1...) The issue is that subnet 1 devices can't connect to subnet 2 devices, even if I create the correct route on network 1 devices. That's logical I guess. As far as I understand this is due to NAT on R7000 and could work if there has been an option to switch NAT off on the R7000. Is this right ? If this is the case then I think that I am screwed because my understanding is that it is not possible to switch NAT off on this router. The other option I see is to put all my devices on subnet 2... but I am afraid that this will not fly because of double NAT that will cause issues at some point when accessing remote SSH servers at my office I need to connect to. Is there any other option to make this work ? If not then this would mean that these Nighthawk routers can't be used for parental control when the IAP modem is also a router that can't be turned into a bridge. Of course, not accessing subnet 2 devices from subnet 1 is not a solution for me :-) And I can't replace the FAI modem because of TV and phone traffic that would be very, not to say impossible, to handle with other modems Many thanks for your attention and your help. PS: I have little knowledge in network things and English is not my native language. My apologises for all the stupid things and mistakes I may write.6.6KViews0likes17CommentsEnable Remote Access Fails - "Incorrect request format, try again."
Hi After a wifi router reset my Netgear Genie App is having issues with Remote Access - Incorrect request format. Prior to the reset, the Genie app was able to remotely access the router. Genie App can locally connect to R700 with no issues However, issues when enabling the remote access - Click Remote Access - Credentials entered under the Remote tab (same user id password that was being used before) - Enable Remote Access (sliding the button) - Error Message = Enable Failed. Incorrect request format, try again. Ever since I upgraded to the most recent firmware on the R8000, I connected my Western Digital USB (1Tb drive) to the USB 3.0 port and I had to reinstall my desktop as it was having issues. Come to reinstall the ReadyShare Vault software and the drive attached to the router can no longer be found. I have reset the router, re-registered with Ready Cloud and I can find the drive the hard way via the routerlogin.net web site, but the backup software no longer sees the drive,, What happened? Am I alone in the mystery? I may as well, just start over, remove the ReadyShare software and go with a bare metal backup such as Acronis or go back to the really old Disk -> Tape archival .. at least I know it was reliable -- unlike so much from Netgear lately. I have told Netgear support that when I couldn't get the email reports sent to forget it, this is just one more stake in the coffin. If they can't get it right, the R8000 becomes a doorstop ... waste of $$$$$$ for something that is supposed to work.3.5KViews1like6CommentsNew Nighthawk, with a New Genie. New SSDI Button? Nighthawk AC2300 Smart Wifi Router, Model 7000P
First the selection did not give me the model of AC2300 Smart WiFi Router. Which is what I will be talking about. Just purchased, setup went directly to updating software and firmware. It has a new genie. Niether the HELP on Netgear nor on UTube show help with this new Gemie. I saw how to clone my old Router into this new one. However my passwords are many... many moons ago. Years out of my memory or notes. So cloning will only have me locked out. I want to do the ports and all, but without the crush of my network being down. I need to make a new SSDI, so that my network will continue running. I can turn off the old transmitter by button. I will figure out how to get in there for port configuration later. I REALLY NEED TO CREAT A ESTABLISHED SSDI AND PASSWORD with this new Genie. I cannot find the simple NEW button, to creat it. Not in this new Genie. This websites Help only shows the older version of Genie. Genie Version 2.4.52 Copyright (c) 2018, NETGEAR Inc. All Rights Reserved. Privacy Policy Powered by BIGIT.COM If it's possible, get directly to device website. Niether 192.168.1.1 nor Routerlogin.net will get me into the machine. I would probably be more comfortable. Thanks for any clues, time and attenion you might have for me. MosheSolved3KViews0likes5Comments34 character system generated admin username for R7000
I ran through the set up program I got . xxxxxx is where I've replaced the actual text , so I'm not broadcasting my passwords. But Look at the Admin Username. ! Trust me I did not create this. I read several posts about how impossible it is to change the username. Well it's been changed. How do I change it back. The Genie andriod app doesn't allow Admin to be changed , so I can't login to it. Output from the setup : Congratulations! Hello, I have a R7000 router, in bridge mode wich is connected to my ISP supplied modem, a Huawei brand. I need to have the Huawei connected becuase it has a VOIP connection and the R7000 doesnt. I want to use the new Disney Circle, however when I go to connect to the R7000 via the iOS APP it says that I cant connect to the R7000 when it is in AP or Bridge Mode. My question is. How can I use Disney Circle (full paid access) with my current setup. Are then any settings or hardware changes I can do? I know I can remove the Huawei, but I will lose my VOIP.2.5KViews1like3Comments
