I purchased the RBR850 with 2 satellites. I could not get the install to work with my iPhone, so I used a laptop. I installed the router and was installing the satellites when the solid white light on the router went out. So i powered everything down and plugged it back in, blinking white, then no light. So I hit the reset briefly and it did the same thing. Someone suggested to me that the firmware might be corrupt or need an update. So I held the reset button in for a longer time to restore the router. I started again, got to a point where I could update the firmware, it was going along and then the light went out again. Any ideas before I return this thing. I'd be more confident but I had install issues with the first one that we bought and Netgear gave up. Either i have some kind of bad luck or I don't know whatLooking for Operating temperature Range for Orbi RBR850 Router
I have an RBR850 router that occasionally quit and had to be rebooted after waiting 10 min or so last summer. I am in Phoenix, and we had one of the hottest summers on record last summer. As we head into another summer season, I am wondering if I should move the router to another location that might be a littler cooler. Before I go to the effort of re-configuring my network (I have a cable modem, large switch for lots of wired drops as well as the Orbi Mesh WiFi), I would like to know the operating temperature range for this router. Does anyone have any data on the operating temperature range of the Orbi RBK850? Thanks!Internet connection fails using factory defaults on Orbi RBR860
Direct connection from ISP provided BEC outdoor router to computer ethernet port works fine. BEC 6800RUL uses a POE ethernet connection via power injector indoors near the computer. Ethernet cable from BEC outdoor unit goes into the injector. Injector's ethernet output cable connects to computer or to a router. BEC configuration specifies computer IP address 192.168.1.253 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway 192.168.1.254 ISP is VTEL Wireless which serves much of Vermont Apparently specifying those 3 info bits in computer's setup is sufficient to establish an internet connection. The Orbi with factory configuration seems to have no clue there is internet available at its doorstep and "Smart Setup" tells me there is no cable connected to the Internet Port. I need step by step guidance to help me get the Orbi on track. I've opened 2 "Cases" with support on-line and both times received an email with a phone number to call. With that done they close the case. Phone support begins with news that call volume is heavy but provide no estimate of wait time. I've called several times on different days & times with same results. Hoping the community can help me out, else poor Orbi will be returned to the mother ship despite its good looks. ThanksOrbi 960 print errors to legacy network printer on 2.4 IOT SSID when PC connected to wifi 5ghz SSID.
I installed my network laser printer (Brother HL-L2350DW) using the SSID for IOT devices (2.5ghz legacy) on my Orbi RBKE963 mesh network. I have assigned it a static IP/DHCP reservation in the Orbi setup. I can see the printer is connected via the Orbi admin tool. I get print errors when attempting to print if my PC is connected to the non-IOT SSID on the same router. This should not be the case as they share the same DHCP server. If I want to print, I have to connect my PC to the slower IOT SSID. If I reinstall the printer from scratch in Windows 11 using the assigned IP address, it will work immediately but not after the printer goes into sleep mode. Even when I hit the power button to wake up the printer, I am unable to print to it without errors unless I manually connect my PC to the IOT SSID. Time to buy a new printer?Move Orbi satellite to a different router
I have two Orbi 750 Routers at my house. In California, Comcast lets you have 2 cable modems without charging you, so I have one modem in my garage -- about 300 feet from the house and another modem in the main house. I bought two Orbi 3-Packs from Costco -- i.e. router plus 2 satellites. On the 3 packs -- the wifi name, i.e. "Orbi47", etc is the same for the router and the two satellites. (Yes, I change the SSID during setup) In the garage, I was only using 1 satellite, in the main house I was using all 2. I decided that I wanted to put a 3rd satellite in the main house. No matter, how many times that I have reset/reinitialized the router and the satellite, the "extra" satellite always wants to sync to the Garage Router. It's a weak signal -- and not what I want. I want to sync the extra satellite to the house. So far, all I can see doing is to shut off the orbi router in the garage and the 1 satellite, turrn the extra satellite on and sync to the main house. I can do this -- however, I worry about what happens when a power outage comes and then there is a race condition on which router to sync to. Anybody have any good ideas here? Anyway to change the embedded Orbi Wifi SSID -- i.e. the "orbi47" name, etc on the satellite so it by default syncs/pairs with the house router?SolvedOrbi 960 Wired Backhaul Question
Quick question about wired backhaul. My current internet service is 1GB ATT fiber, and I go from the ATT gateway (bridge mode) > Orbi (Router Mode) > Network Switch > Satellites. This setup works just fine, but I'm switching to ATT 5GB fiber. I'd like to be able to get the full 2.5 GB to each of the satellites should they ever need it, and the main router only has a 2.5GB port out. As a result, I'm thinking of trying the following ATT gateway (Router Mode) > Switch > Orbi (AP Mode) / Satellites. My question is would the wired backhaul still work in this set-up? Essentially, I would be going direct from the gateway to the Orbi router and Orbi satellites rather than daisy chaining them. Another question is can the 960 utilize both wired and wireless backhauls simultaneously, similar to the Eero 6E? This would eliminate the need to change my set-up in the first place as the wireless channels could offer the additional bandwidth. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.Uk Virgin Super hub 4 and Orbi rbre960 + 3 satellites
All working now but now, but should i switch of the wifi on virgin SH4 and put into Modem mode as today i had to factory reset the Virgin suoerhub 4 as internet was intermittent. DHCP is on starting address 192.168.0.10. the orbi is connected to the superhub and ip is 192.168.1.1 it is radiating SSID VT110 , password is 1234 the orbi has 3 satellites connected using wifi backhaul internet ip address is set to get dynamically from isp dns is set to 8.8.8.8. , what should this be ? lan setup is use router as dhcp server. thanks for all advice, not sure why clients near to both the SH4 and Orbi are not getting confused with same SSID cheersSolvedInstalling ProtonVPN on Orbi CBR750
Hello Everyone, I have an Orbi CBR750 with two satellites on my home network. I use Comcast-Xfinity for my cable internet access. I need to install ProtonVPN on my router, but so far have been unable to do so. Is this possible? Has anyone made it work? I am willing to buy additional equipment compatible with my existing setup if needed. I would prefer to avoid replacing all of my existing equipment since it was pretty expensive, and is still covered by warranty and support. Thank you all in advance for any ideas or advice! Cheers, JOrbi AX1800 Setup
Trying to install/setup Router RBR350 and 1 Satellite RBS350. Can get the wife network established, but the router is not connecting to the internet. Followed all the guidance about turning off the modem (we are on a fibre connection), disconnecting router, turning modem back on, then reconnecting router and turning it on. Same result each time: router sits with steady white light on, which according to the guide means that the router is booting or someone has pressed Sync button. Will stay like that for ages. Going through the Orbi App the setup installation says that the router does not have connection to the internet. However, when I reconnect the router with the old RBR20 I am replacing, following the same procedure as above, everything comes up fine and I have full connection to the wifi and internet. Either I am doing something wrong or there's a glitch with the system, but I cannot sort our what it is.Nighthawk upgrade to Orbi
I currently have an R9000 router and three EX8000 extenders. Just purchased an Orbi 960 router with two of its extenders. Here are some questions: I will have a spot where my existing third extender is. Should I: (a) keep that EX8000 in place (it primarily serves the detached garage), (b) replace it with the R9000 set up as an extender (rather than as a router), or (c) must I spend the extra $600 for yet another Orbi extender? (I am assuming the third extender is still needed - it may not be.) Any advice on making the setup easier? I've been told that is not possible to import settings directly from the R9000 to the Orbi 960, but I have more than 100 devices grabbing IP addresses and some with static addresses.Solved
