Mac original item can't be found
1 TopicMac Finder Yields; Original item for "Share1" can't be found
We set up "NAS" as a SMB server for for our small office. The NAS OS is 6.9.4 This sytem has been working for some time with both our Macs and PCs. It had four shares on it and we needed a new fifth share. I used my Windows PC to connect as the admin and removed 2TB from Share1 and allocated them to the new Share5. I then moved three folders with files from 1 to 5 from my Windows File Explorer. Since I've done this the Macs are giving 'original item "Share1 or 5" can't be found' error any time a Mac tries to access thes two shares. I did not disturb Shares 2 thru 4 and the Macs are still able to find items in those shares. My Windows machine has no problems with any of the shares. I've tried many fixes that have not been effective - I double checked the access rights using the NAS management software. Reset access permissions from the NAS management software. Tried disconnecting the Mac from Share1 in Finder and then remounting to it after a reboot. Searched social media forums and tried many ideas. Today I tried unmounting the Share Host via command line in the Terminal utiliy hoping that would remove the host mapping info from the Master Map file. The the command $ diskutil umount force /NAS reported it completed successfuly but you could still see it in Finder. I'm an old time Windows user and new to Macs. I don't know much about them. I've run out of ideas and could really use some help on this. Thank you, Dave858Views0likes2Comments
