Network Drive
2 TopicsFolder Access to NAS
I have managed to set up my NAS fine, and it has been working brilliantly. I have set up my admin and primary user password but not added any other people's accounts. I have the ReadyNAS RN104 and running OS 6.6.1. I can map a network drive to folders and it asks for passwords but I have noticed that on other pc's on the same network, there is a Network Location for the ReadyNAS visible (with the Netgear logo) and any PC seems to be able to access this without need for an account, let alone a password. I have gone through the shares and edited the permissions to not be anonymous, and even as far as only admin account has access but the automatic network location can still access the files without any protection. I have already had one person access my files on the network without my permission and want to make sure there is only verified access. I can't find anywhere to turn off this 'device' appearing automatically and only allowing access after maping a drive or web access, or at the very least making sure it is password protected. Thanks for any help.Solved5.3KViews0likes2CommentsLogin to ReadyNAS / map a network drive
Hi all, I am own a ReadyNAS 2120v2 since some days and updated the OS to 6.24. The device is called 'altair' in my network'. The ReadyNAS has some shared folders with enabled SMB protocol. Now I have some trouble with accounts. I creates one called 'tl' with a password. Now when I try to open \\altair\ in the Windows Explorer and login with my admin credentials it will work fine. But if I try it with 'tl' and there credentials it does not work. I tested it in the browser to but it is the result - no access with 'tl'. PS: My Windows operating systems are Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 - it is the same problem on both OSs. What must I check to solve this problem?3.4KViews0likes4Comments
