Hi all, I had a disk fail {4} and another {2} disconnect afterwards in a four disk X-Raid setup, and seem to have botched the resync. The data volume is split into data0 {1,2,3,4[missing?]} in Raid 5 and data for the last drive(s?) {3,4} in Raid 1. After resync, the disks show up as fine and are online. They passed a disk test. Jun 23, 2025 11:05:35 PM System: ReadyNASOS background service started. I'm hoping I can get some help as local support options look slim. What would be the recommended first steps to try to diagnose the problem and see if the volumes can be reconstructed to restore access to the filesystem? I had previously posted this thread Remove inactive volumes to use the disk. Disk #1,2,3,4. troubleshooting | NETGEAR Communities but I had to wait for replacement disks that i bought during the summer. Now I started the ReadyNas 104 and I see error "Remove inactive volumes to use the disk. Disk #1,2." In the previous post it looked like disks 3 and 4 were ok but now i dont see them in the volumes section Given the different status I have not tried yet to enter in support mode and do any other steps. I looked at logs and given there might be some personal info i am not sharing them all but smart, kernel and some other that look relevant but I dont really see any new logs. My RN424 is connected to a netgear network switch (GS116), and the switch is connected to a ~20-year-old T-Mobile TM-AC1900 router (rebadged ASUS router), which connects to my DSL modem. This setup has been stable for at least 20 years, has survived power outages, etc. But it is time to move on from DSL. I am attempting to evaluate T-Mobile Wireless Internet, and to that end, I obtained the T-Mobile Internet Gateway. However, when I disconnected the existing router and internet connection from the network switch, and plugged in the wireless gateway, the PC's on the network no longer see the network drive. I can access the internet fine from all wired PC's (after they are rebooted) and via wifi, using the wireless gateway, but my primary PC (W10) now says that the mapped network drives are in use. I assume that the other W10 and W11 PC's on the network are the same, but I haven't checked. I removed the wireless gateway and reverted back to the old router and internet connection, and everything is operating as it was. I am considering connecting the wireless gateway to the old router's WAN port so that the old router, with its network control functions, will still be inline to see if that works, but I thought I'd check for advice here first. After all, I want to retire the old router as well. I am not a network expert, although I did get this all this up and running years ago and have "managed" the network since then. Any advice on how I can remove the old router and install the new network gateway with the least trouble possible?65Views0likes9CommentsReadyNAS 214 turns itself on - after a power outage.
I have several ReadyNAS devices running the latest firmware version 6.10.10 (214, 104, 312, etc.). I was able to configure all of them so that, after a proper shutdown and subsequent power off, they wouldn't restart when the power was turned back on. However, I can't do this with this one ReadyNAS 214. After turning on the power, the ReadyNAS starts up with a delay of several seconds. How can I prevent this?46Views0likes4CommentsReadyNas 316 - volumes inactive
I need help trying to recover/fix my NAS system. I noticed I was unable to write anything to it today, so I rebooted it (similar things have happened in the past). After a reboot the NAS comes back up as "healthy" but all the disks are Red and the NAS says all volumes are inactive and wants to remove them. I looked at the webui logs and it looks like after running snapshots the system went into read-only mode. Any help would be immensely appreciated! As there has been no news for ReadyOS updates in the last... 5? year... It might be time to actually replace the operating system with another Linux. I remember seeing some discussions here about doing exactly that. But with the forum re-organization I could not find that. Specifically: Is there an easy way to just go into BIOS and boot from a USB? Is it better to "permanently" install a custom OS, or just keep using the USB to boot? Is there a Serial or VGA output? Or shall I try to add a VGA card to the internal PCI slot (which means "open" operation)? Thanks in advance!Solved114Views0likes3CommentsBest ReadyNAS Setup for Secure Resume Storage?
I run a job platform 247jobincanada.com and we receive hundreds of resumes and employer documents weekly. I'm exploring ReadyNAS as a secure, on-site storage solution. Yes, I know this is very old but I am hoping... I have replaced the power supply and the on-board battery and there is still no life to it. At this point, I really just want to get the data off the 4x 1T drives but I don't know how to do that short of getting it powered back up. Help anyone? I'm willing to pay for service, if I knew where to go. And to think, I am in the midst of Silicon Valley... Thanks!!Solved106Views0likes4Comments
