A while ago I got an email from my seven year-old ReadyNAS which has 2 x Western Digital Caviar Green 2 TB Desktop Hard Drive (WD20EARS): "Access to the disk on channel (??) is producing I/O errors. Although the array is still redundant, please replace this drive as soon as possible, as it is likely to fail soon." I plugged an external USB HDD into it and set a backup job, but the job failed part of the way through so the backup is incomplete. Eventually the ReadyNAS stopped responding (couldn't connect via Finder or access Frontview). I unplugged it and powered it back up. For a while it's responsive and I can access Frontview and see that it is doing a RAID resync (I get an email saying "A SATA reset has been performed on one or more of your disks that may have affected the RAID parity integrity."). However although it seems to be powered up (LEDs, fans, seen by my router and RAIDar) it is again unresponsive and the backup job does not run. RAIDar reports that it is resyncing, but it is stuck at 0.0% (Frontview showed something different before it stopped responding but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I know this model is EOL and long out of warranty. I just want to be able to get my data off it. Can anyone help? If the attempted RAID resync is the issue, should I power it down, pull one of the drives and power it back up? And given that one of the drives is maybe failing, is there any way of knowing which drive I should pull? Grateful for any help you can offer. Thanks, Robert952Views0likes3CommentsRAIDar 6.3.0, this latest version is not showing my RN104 on the network, what changed?
Okay, what happened? I've been using RAIDar ever since, well, you know, a long time now. Then, an upgrade comes out. Now I do not see the RN104 in my network. Now there was a recent upgrade for the RN104 too. Can I say exactly when this all started? NO! I wasn't paying that much attention. Until now of course when I want to access the shares and folders by clicking on the NAS icon in my network and then logging in as admin as I always do. Now I have to either log in to the NAS by way of the browser or with the RAIDar utility. It's extra steps now that I didn't have to do before. Please tell me there is another update coming or new release of RIADart correct this? Is anyone else having this problem or have noticed this?Solved4.1KViews0likes3CommentsReadyNAS Duo RND2000 not booting - no disks detected
My ReadyNAS Duo was working fine yesterday - as far as I know, both disks were OK. I beleive the firmware is up-to-date but has not changed recently. I copied a large number of photos onto it and all seemed well initially but I did not check them as the process too a long time (perhaps longer than usual). Later the device would not shut off as usual so I disconnected and tried to reboot. Various patterns were observed and Raidar was unable to find it. I have seen it with the power light on steady but no other lights. I powered off and removed the disks to try one or two in the two slots. The current sitiuation is that it will not detect disks. Raidar will now find it. Currently the power light is flashing but I can turn it off by holding it down, as usual. It will restart with no disks inserted and can then be discovered using raidar but with useful options greyed out. The power light is flashing and the two LEDs are flashing in a pattern of 2 slow flashes followed by 3 fast ones. Inserting a disk (or two) seems to have little effect. Any ideas? I was thinking about replacement as it's 6 years old and well out of warranty. I'd rather like to be able to access the data!3.3KViews0likes2CommentsFreeing up space on the OS partition (RAIDar 4.2.28, ReadyNAS Ultra 2)
From time to time (very rarely) my OS partition fills up to 100% causing all kinds of issues. Usually, the reason are some log-files that just became too big or too many. Once I had to move the CrashPlan cache to another partition. Once I cleared out stuff, the partiction usage was down to 30-40 percent again. But this time, I seem to be stuck at just under 80% and I can't figure out where all that junk might be . Or alternatively, why I suddenly need so much more space. The problem is, I'm not a linux expert and I don't know exactly which directories are actually located on the OS partition. So far I have checked the following: /var /usr /etc /tmp And I cleared all logs and obviously unnecessary files, but that doesn't seem to be enough. What might I be missing? Christoph So every time I find myself trying to figure out, which directories are actually on the OS partition so that I can target these (obviously, I'm not a linux/debian expert).Solved4.6KViews0likes8CommentsRAIDar 6.1 on Windows 10
RAIDar 6.1 seems to have the same "Install" issues as in Ver: 6.0. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/Raidar-6-0-on-Windows-10/m-p/1018524 Running 6.1 RAIDar.exe does update the %user%\Appdata\Local\RAIDar\RAIDar.exe 1064kb file to a 1067kb file, but still no signs of a shortcut/icon/start menu item.3.8KViews0likes5CommentsRaidar 6.0 on Windows 10
After running the "Installer" (RAIDar.exe) the program requests opening the firewall for access and then the application starts. What seems to be missing is the creation of icons/shortcuts/start menu items to use the program. The only way to start the program is to re-run the "Installer". Am I missing something? RAIDar v4.3.8 "Installer" works fine.5KViews0likes8CommentsReadyNAS How-To download RAIDar (what is the different with RAIDiator) 4.2.7 on PC
When I download either RAIDiator or RAIDar, I get some unknown file extension on RAIDiator-V4.2.27 and a Web-shortcut RAIDiator-V4.2.27. I assume this is a Firmware file. These two files are not .EXE that I need to install RAIDar V4.2.27 on the PC. From what I can tell I need RAIDar V4.2.27 for my ReadyNAS Pro 6 on my PC. I cannot find RAIDar .EXEon the site to download. Can someone tell me where I can download the .EXE, please. Back Ground: I had it on my PC and I had to reimage it as it crashed. I had (from Memory) RAIDar 4.2.27. I can’t remember precisely how I got in on my PC. I'm fairly certain I downloaded it from the ReadyNAS Site. but I can't find it again Thank youSolved5KViews0likes2Comments
