RESET ROUTER
1 TopicR7000, Reset button doesn't?
I'm on Firmware Version V1.0.4.30_1.1.67. Any other version above this gave me some wireless problems. Yesterday the 5Ghz channel dropped, well it really didn't, it was there but the PC using AC wireless had some long browser delays. Powering off and on the PC cured that, but this has been happening for a few weeks randomly. So I decided to RESET the router. I pressed in the RESET button and held it for at least 15 seconds. I've got the setting set to turn off the LED's so only the power one shows. That was 'white' and turned 'orange' and then all the other LED's sort of flashed and were not fully on. Some flashed again. Released the RESET button finally and the POWER LED stayed 'orange' and eventually turned 'white'. I thought that was strange as the reset button should have reset ALL the settings so I expected to see all the LED's be on that should be? Ok, brought up the wired PC and went to 192.168.1.1. I expected to need to re-enter ALL my settings including the Wireless SSID I had as well as the passphrase and Security Option. Well they were all there already? Matter of fact everything was. The access list, reserved IP Address, log settings, EVERYTHING? Wasn't the RESET procedure supposed to reset ALL settings to the default value? This is what http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9665 says? Under ADVANCED ==> BACKUP SETTINGS there is a REVERT TO FACTORY DEFAULT SETTINGS and an ERASE button. I assume all that will do is erase all my settings? That is not the same as a RESET though is it? I also assume that the RESET button only will basically reboot and remove settings you set, not go back to the shipped FIRMWARE (I was on the same one I had installed once it came up again)? Why didn't the RESET do a RESET? It was basically the same as powering off and on the router? I'm sort of thinking the R7000 in this specific FIRMWARE has been programmed so the RESET button really just does a reboot and if you want to reset the router to shipped you have to do that via the GUI?Solved13KViews0likes8Comments
