10 TopicsHow to Clone ReadyNAS to Newly Added ReadyNAS?
Hi There, We have ReadyNASRN3138 NAS and recently we added another ReadyNASRN3138 to our rack and now both are connected! 1. How do we clone our current NAS with the new one correctly(with the same file paths and Contents)? 2. How to setup both of them to run simultaniously and if a one goes down, other one should be able to comes up and run our servers(VMware EXSI) with no issues. Please Help! Thanks in AdvanceInstalled App not showing up on Installed Apps list
I recently installed a ReadyNAS firmware update. After installation it my Plex Applcation did not show up on the installed Apps list. In addition it does not show up in the Available Apps list. The App is running and I can see it remotely, however there is an update to the Plex App but I am unable to install it because I cannot see it on my Installed Apps or Available Apps. Currently running ver 6.9.1. How do I get ReadyNAS to recognise that Plex is installed?Dropbox corrupting share permissions...
Hey guys, I've discovered an interesting situation that is quite frustrating. It seems that when you have strict permissions on a share, the embedded DB client will overwrite them with explicit permissions. Does anyone know what credentials the embedded DB client runs as? Here are the complete details as far as I have been able to replicate the issues. It's a bit long but I want to give as many details as possible to the Devs. Hardware: Model - ReadyNAS316 Firmware - 6.7.4 Configuration: AD Authentication enabled Share - /bob Network Access Tab - SMB only, user Bob R/W with no other users given any permissions. File Access Tab - Owner Bob, Group BobsGroup, user Bob R/W with no other users given any permissions. Cloud Config: Dropbox enabled Local Path - /data/Bob/Dropbox Sync Direction - Bidirection Layout: User Bob has W7 and W10 workstations off-site with Dropbox client installed. On-site he has X: mapped to \\{ReadyNAS}\Bob. The Scenario/Issue: Running locally, all works as expected. Any files placed in X:\Dropbox sync to the DB Cloud and back down to his home workstations with no issues. Files dropped on his Windows clients at home however cause an issue. They do sync up to the DB Cloud and subsequently to X:\Dropbox, though that part is not immediately evident, as ALL files immediately disappear from X:\. Yes, the root of the share displays empty, not just the \Dropbox folder. The fix for this is to go into the Admin console (which still shows the share access as I have created it, unmolested) and apply Everyone R/W to the File Access (which causes all the files to imediately repopulate if he has Windows Explorer open to view the folder), then remove Everyone and re-secure with Bob R/W. When looking at the logs you see nothing other than successes for any sync'ed files: Date, Time, Downloading /data/Bob/Dropbox/Document1.doc... Date, Time, /data/Bob/Dropbox/Document1.doc was downloaded to local. Now the REALLY strange part: When the folder is blanked out, if Bob locally copies any files to X:\, they are there. But when you do the access fix, they vanish and all the original files come back. Then, the next time access 'breaks', those new files return. None of these issues happen if you leave /Bob with the credentials Everyone R/W. It is only when you lock it down. My guess is there is some built-in credential in the embedded DB client that forces exclusive, low-level access to a share if it doesn't already have permission. Unfortunately, the Admin console does not display this new ACL. What it should be doing is appending it's credentials, or from the DB client config you should be able to specify what credentials it uses on the ReadyNAS side. The kicker is, however, once you have AD Authentication enabled, there does not appear to be any way to add the existing local accounts to a share. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix available? This might be something requiring SSH would be my guess but then my warranty would be void which doesn't seem right. Thanks in advance!ReadyCloud "VPN Disconnected" Still a Problem Logging In
For months now I would get the occassional "VPN disconnected" notice - like many others have experienced - when I tried to login to remotely access my files from a laptop, using the ReadyCloud desktop app. Back then, I could at least log out and back in or restart the app and it would start working again after one attempt. However, this is no longer the case. Ever since the ReadyCloud outage that lasted hours around a week ago, I now go some 10-20 attempts at this before it finally lets me in. It takes about 30-45 minutes of retries. Any ideas to fix this? I'm running v1.15 on Windows 10 Home edition.Sickrage not working after re-install ReadyNAS 102
Hi guys, I've had the Sickrage app installed from WhoCares_ but I was having trouble updating it to the latest git. So I decided to remove it and install the version from Mhynlo After installation, the app seems to be installed correctly; the status is ON in Frontview, however the app doesn't work. When I launch it, the page http://192.168.1.13:8081 opens, but the Sickrage page is not working. I've tried removing the app with SSH: I logged in as root and ran apt-get purge sickrage Then: cd apps rm sickrage -r The latter command returned 'no such directory.' I reinstalled the app again, but it still doesn't work... :( Any ideas?Solved4.3KViews0likes10Commentsrsyslog writing to syslog.1 after logrotate since upgrading to 6.5.2
Hi, Ever since upgrading to ReadyNAS 6.5.2 a couple days ago, each morning at 6:25am when the logrotate happens the syslog file rotation happens normally, but then rsyslog keeps writing to syslog.1 instead of the, now empty, syslog file. As you can imagine this screws up the LogAnalyzer add-on app in ReadyNAS, leaving it empty also. The "workaround" I've found so far is to reboot the RN202. Doing a # service rsyslog restart doesn't seem to be enough to get it working again, a full reboot is required. I've also tried: # apt-get update && apt-get upgrade rsyslog ... Calculating upgrade... rsyslog is already the newest version. ... # rsyslogd -f/etc/rsyslog.conf -N1 rsyslogd: version 5.8.11, config validation run (level 1), master config /etc/rsyslog.conf rsyslogd: End of config validation run. Bye. # rsyslogd -f/etc/rsyslog.conf -N3 rsyslogd: version 5.8.11, config validation run (level 3), master config /etc/rsyslog.conf rsyslogd: End of config validation run. Bye. Any ideas out there what might be going on? Thanks, GregSymform still lives for OS6 (ARM and Intel boxes)
I have seen some misinformation on the forums here and, since I am a Symform supporter, I just want to take a moment to correct the record. Symform still supports ReadyNAS devices and works well on OS6, however the app is no longer available through the App Store like it was in older versions of the OS. I'm not sure what happened to the Netgear/Symform partnership, but if you're interested in using the software, here's how you can do so. Go to the following link to download the Symform application for ARM (there is also a version available for Intel elsewhere on the Symform support forum): https://community.symform.com/entries/36732836-NETGEAR-ReadyNAS-ARM-Manual-software-installation-or-update Once you have the Symform.deb saved on your PC, log in to your ReadyNAS admin page. Go to the Apps tab, find the "Upload" button and direct it to your Symform.deb file. It will take a moment to install, and then it will appear alongside your other installed apps. From there, it takes a moment to configure which files to sync and how much space to contribute. As long as your router supports uPNP, everything should be automated from there. It's a hands off and totally free unlimited backup solution. Long live Symform =) Hope this helps someone. Take care!ReadyNAS Ultra 6 SNMP addon
Hi all, I have had to reset my ReadyNAS Ultra 6 to defaults, and have lost the SNMP addon. I cannot locate it on my own PC, or on any of the forums. I have searched for hours with no success. Would anyone out there have the .bin file still available and be able to post it or email it to me please? Thanks in advance.SolvedSABnzbd for RN102
Hi, I've been using SABnzbd on my RN102 for some time now, without much problems to speak of. Recently, I had a pretty big download queue, which it wouldn't finish; it stopped at around 80%. I figured I'll restart SABnzb, see what happens. However, it didn't come back on. It wouldn't start from the NAS UI and the bookmark i normally use to start SABnzbd wouldn't load either. I figured I'll reboot the NAS via putty. At first the UI wouldn't come back on either. Used Raidar to see if the NAS was there. It was, but it wasn't accessible because it was busy. After having tried another reboot, it took a while to come back on and now I noticed the firmware had updated from 6.2.3 to 6.2.4 (I didn't tell it to update the firware) Treid launching SABnzbd again with no luck. updated the fimware to 6.2.5 to see what would happen, still not able to launch SABnzbd. Tried to re-install the app, but the UI kept hanging while trying to remove the app. after another reboot the app still showed up in the app list, but without its icon. (broken image link) I thought maybe if I install it again from "available apps" (where I originally installed it from) but now it's nowhere to be found on that list. When I google "SABnzbd arm" I see that there's a version available but now i have to PAY for it? This seems rediculous. I mean, isn't this "who cares" guy just making money with someone else's freeware? Anyway, I'd love to be able to use SABnzbd again on my NAS (or any other NZB client for that matter) and I was wondering if anyone could help me out? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks a bunch in advance and kind regards, LaszloSolved
