Freue mich über jede Nachricht hierzu!2KViews0likes4CommentsSSD Tier is useless on ReadyNAS 4312
What is the point of adding SSD tiering if I still cannot use the internal SATA ports on the ReadyNAS 4312X? I have to give up two of the 12 bays in this thing if I want to have a RAID 1 of SSDs for metadata caching? Can we please get an update that enables the use of the two internal SATA ports in the frontview GUI? PS - Why doesn't the forum let you pick the ReadyNAS 4312 as the model when posting?File Permissions Messed Up After HDD Change On PC
Hey Guys I have an issue with my ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus (4.2.30), where I cannot copy anything to any of the directories on it, or delete, move any files. The only thing I can do is copy files from the ReadyNas to my PC, but nothing else. This seemed to have occured after I upgraded the HDD on my PC to an SSD and clean installed Windows 7. How the hell do I get back my permissions? I've searched and everything I read makes my brain melt. So much so I gave up three months ago and have only just got round to checking on this issue again. Has anyone had this issue who knows how to recify this nifghtmare? I need to take back ownership of these files.Solved3KViews0likes2CommentsRN316 Initial setup | X-RAID2 | SSD + HDDs any advantages / disadvantages?
G'day, I've looked around but either my searching is poor or there's nothing that I can find that looks specifically at this. Please feel free to point me at threads that I may have missed if this has already been addressed! I intend to use X-RAID2 as the mixing and matching of HDD sizes is one of the main reasons I went with the RN316 - to use a baseline of HDDs that I already have (empty) and expand as HDDs become cheaper or I need the capacity. I'm just getting around to setting up my ReadyNAS 316 (OS6) for the first time, and have available the following for use in the NAS. I don't need to use all of them, but would like advice on the best mix / order / etc if possible. I have: 1x 256Gb SSD 3x 1TB HDD 2x 2TB HDD 3x 3TB HDD Numerous other smaller HDDs I've read the software and hardware manuals, and again, I may have missed this there, but: 1. Is it worth using an SSD as the first drive, so that the files used by the OS / cache etc live there? 2. Is there an advantage to using a single SSD in the ReadyNASes? 3. Is there a problem with using an SSD (smaller) mixed with HDDs (larger)? 4. Is there a recommended order to adding drives (start with smaller drives and add larger? Start with large and add smaller?) I really think I've missed an obvious post here in the forums, so please point me there if appropriate! Thanks.Trimming SSD
Hi We have just put 2 Samsung 850 Evo SSD drives into our RN 4220 as a test. I have read through the support forums and found this thread about trimming SSD: https://community.netgear.com/t5/New-to-ReadyNAS/Readynas-OS6-SSD-and-TRIM/m-p/1101913#U1101913 I was wondering if it was possible to schedule a weekly cron job instead to run fstrim on the SSD volume? Would that work instead of using the discard mounting option? Something like this taken from this link: https://turriebuntu.wordpress.com/ubuntu-pages/precise-specific-pages/using-fstrim-to-trim-your-ssd-instead-of-delete-in-fstab/ #!/bin/sh LOG=/var/log/trim.log echo "*** $(date -R) ***" >> $LOG fstrim -v /SSD-Volume-Mount-Point >> $LOG If that works, it would probably be a good addition to the suggested items for ReadyNas too as you could schedule it using the web interface.4.5KViews0likes3CommentsReadynas OS6, SSD, and TRIM
Hello :) I read that Readynas OS6 support SSDs, but I've hard time finding if the TRIM command is supported. And if so, does this work on a raid array ? For the record I've an "old" Readynas Pro 4, but with the lastest OS6 on it. SSD are geting bigger and bigger, and prices are slowly going down. It's not about perfs for me (I already max out the 1gb link of my nas), but silence and heat outpout. Thx !SolvedRN204 SSD "Boot" Drive
I'm thinking of deploying a RN204 and I won't need all four bays for storage (casual storage - media files). Worse case (for the foreseeable future) would be two. So I'm wondering what are the up and down sides of using a SSD for Drive 1 (the boot drive). I have a Samsung SSD Pro (10 year warranty) that I could use. I'm presuming it would boot and perform OS functions somewhat faster. My data drive(s) if created as a separate volume would be more independent. Such as they could be installed and work in a new installation? Within the relatively same release/hardware. Way back when I installed a SSD and played around and wasn't overly impressed with the enhanced performance so I'm wondering what if anything has changed.3.7KViews0likes11Comments
