VERY Slow and Unreliable transfering files between Mac and NAS box
I have 4 ReadyNAS 104's, all of them are showing the same problems, I can access them fine from Windows based systems over the 1Gb backbone that we have installed here, so in theory no bottle necks! But if I try to even transfer a small directory of say 20Mb to the NAS box it can tack up to 40 minutes to complete, the same directory on a windows platform will take around a minute or less. Accessing shares from the mac also cause the same slowness, I have directores that hold textures, 3D models, etc, loads of single files, on the Mac it will take sometimes up to 10 minutes to read some of the larger directories, whereas windows will take just seconds. Transfering files from a Mac to the NAS box will often fail even though they are smallish, I have given up sending stuff larger than 1Gb to the boxes as they ahve not worked well in ages. If I connect a USB drive to the Mac I do not see the same behavior at all, but this is as expected. If I transfer the same files to the Windows based systems from the Mac over the same 1Gb backbone, the transfers happening in a fast way, small directories of say 20Mb will transfer in just a few seconds, a 1Gb directory will transfer in around 1 minutes or less, so in theory it cannot be the network itself.
