Smart Connect
3 TopicsR8500 5GHz band 1 does not work.
I have had the r8500 since early December. Today, as I noticed my laptop in a certain spot had jumped to the 2.4 band as opposed to the 5GHz, I decided to see if maybe one of the 5GHz channels was better than the others. I turned on Netspot Reporter and noticed that there was only one 5Ghz band, the upper one, #153. There was no display for any 36-48 lower 5G band. I always had the 5 ghz set on smart connect, so I disabled Smart Connect. Changed to unique names on the bands, all are active SSID. Reboot roouter. Reboot computer. Still no lower 5G channels. I have no idea if this lower 5G ever worked even out of the box, as I always had smart connect since initial set up. No devices can see the lower 5G channel, though in the router login, it's active, displaying SSID, and unique name. Please help with any ideas. Hi, I am currently using a r7000 with smart connect enabled. I know some of you do not like smart connect, but it works fine here and makes it easy for users. I am about to add an ex7000 and was wondring how it will work with the r7000 with smart connect? If I have to give up smart connect so be it, but I am hoping I do not have to. Does anyone know how I need to go about setting this up correctly?3.9KViews0likes2CommentsEX7000 with my R7000
Hi, I am hooking up an EX7000 as an extender to my R7000 router. The router is using Smart Connect so 2.4 and 5.0 ghz has the same SSID and the best band is automatically selected for each connected device. I can not see such a setting for the EX7000. Should I just set up both 2.4 and 5 ghz with the same SSID and assume it will work, or will I have to turn off Smart Connect on my R7000?Solved4.2KViews0likes1Comment
