1 Topic{X8 R8500 AC5300 & X6S EX8000 AC3000 Extender} Lost my 5G-2 radio?
The initial install was "sweet" -- I invited my boss over, to show and tell, and won him over to upgrade himself. Then I started rearranging the beast and cables to take advantage of the local work flow and messed things up.... The initial X8 R8500 AC5300 was a flawless 2.4Ghz & 2x5.0Ghz (5G and 5G-2). During the initial attach of the X6S range extender, the setup recommended I use the 5G-2 and a channel between >100. Cool.... All latest firmware, flawless mesh, intelligient QOS, one Happy Camper.... Somehow while rearranging "The Beast" (my fond name for this router), the 5G-2 connection to the her is almost impossible to connect to (times out). Only one device (a MacBook Pro) located close to The Beast could acquire 5G-2. It was at this stage where I believe I confused the X8 R8500. Sure hope I didn't break anything..... It was 2am and I was able to get {X8 R8500 AC5300 <---> X6S EX8000 AC3000} running with 2.4GHz and 5G (not the 5G-2) working (all with latest firmware). I am here.... I would like to recover the 5G-2 out of the router as the setups suggested better robustness/performance. As far as factory resets, I've only done so with the X6S EX8000. Didn't try such with the X8 R8500. I acquire wifi hardware about once every 10-15 years, admittedly not as proficient as I should be, and mighty pleased with how far the support s/w has come. Simply need some help getting back to what I think will be the setup to carry me through. Sorry if I got any lingo wrong. Me and The Beast....1.1KViews0likes1Comment
