2 TopicsWNDA4100 and Other Wireless Adapters Low Connection Speed, Failure to Connect at 5G, etc.
I have experienced extremely low connection speeds, seemingly dead adapters, and other problems with two adapters, the WNDA 4100 and WNDA3100 v.2. These have been caused by incompatible drivers automatically being used and persisting in use during Windows 10 installations. To correct these problems, try the following. 1. Go to "Device Manager." 2. Find "Network adapters." 3. Double click on "NETGEAR WNDA____." 4. Go to the "Driver" tab. 5. Click on "Update Driver." 6. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software." 7. Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer." 8. Choose one of the NETGEAR WNDA4100 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter (NETGEAR Inc.) drivers. DO NOT CHOOSE THE ONE THAT IS FROM MediaTek. I am using Driver Version 3.2.7.0 which is dated 1/2/2012 for my Windows 10 setup. That should work with any computer at least from Windows 7 or 8. Hope this helps! I just upgraded to Windows 10 about 2 days ago and as soon as I upgraded, my WNDA4100 Network Adapter quit working. The LED's no longer light up when it is plugged in. I went to netgear's website and downloaded the latest firmware which says it is compatible with Windows 10. After I install the firmware, I go to device manager and click properties on the adapter and I get this error message: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) {Unable to Load Device Driver} %hs device driver could not be loaded. Error Status was 0x%x I have tried running the firmware install in windows 8 compatibility mode as that was suggested by other people, but it never finishes installation. It doesn't lock up, but nothing ever happens. Netgear is not willing to help me one bit cause it's older than 90 days, blah blah. If anyone else has the same trouble, I'd greatly appreciate some help. I am currently using a really long ethernet cord that stretches my living room. I really don't want to have to buy another adapter and with windows 10 being so new, idk what new adapter would even work.Solved76KViews1like18Comments
