37 TopicsWD RED Smart bad info?
Hello community! Last April I bought two WD Red 4TB WD40EFRX hard drives (I bought them with a difference of 7 days) and replaced them with the two 2TB WD Green I had in the Readynas Ultra 2 with RAIDIATOR 4.2.31 (Readynas HCL indicates that this hard disks are compatible with readynas ultra 2) . I did a hard reset to the ReadyNAS Ultra 2 and started with the default configuration to configure it and enter all my data (about 2tb). The NAS will have been online all this time (it was stopped about 10 days only on summer). If it was on all that time, there is something that does not work well in the SMART of the hard disks or the way in which the SMART is read. Today I find that the hard drives have 2528 hours and 2359 hours respectively. Something is wrong. If you have been practically 24 hours since April you can not have that number of hours that is equivalent to about 105 days for the first and 98 days for the second. However, the NAS now has 154 days of uptime. Is this normal? I do not know if this is the problem of the Raidiator or the SMART of the WD RED, has this happened to more people? Taking advantage, I downloaded the logs, and there are the last 10 dates of smart that I attach to this message. And there are times when the number of hours is greater than the current one. How is it possible? 2017-11-05: sda: Power_On_Hours 3378 sdb: Power_On_Hours 3209 Complete log: https://pastebin.com/7FCvfH6A 2017-11-12: sda: Power_On_Hours 3546 sdb: Power_On_Hours 3377 Complete log: https://pastebin.com/VTR13The 2017-11-19: sda: Power_On_Hours 2520 sdb: Power_On_Hours 2352 Complete log: https://pastebin.com/G6AZ7n9v 2017-11-26: sda: Power_On_Hours 2688 sdb: Power_On_Hours 2520 Complete log: https://pastebin.com/46Y9HSZR 2017-12-03: sda: Power_On_Hours 2856 sdb: Power_On_Hours 2688 Complete log: https://pastebin.com/kSNkTxxY 2017-12-10: sda: Power_On_Hours 3024 sdb: Power_On_Hours 2855 Complete log: https://pastebin.com/8qEYxec9 2017-12-17: sda: Power_On_Hours 3192 sdb: Power_On_Hours 3023 Complete log: https://pastebin.com/mHx4EWHy 2017-12-24: sda: Power_On_Hours 3360 sdb: Power_On_Hours 3191 Complete log: https://pastebin.com/0U1M5TbV 2017-12-31: sda: Power_On_Hours 3527 sdb: Power_On_Hours 3359 Complete log: https://pastebin.com/ezMstNPu 2017-01-07: sda: Power_On_Hours 2502 sdb: Power_On_Hours 2334 Complete log: https://pastebin.com/qdZXfzz3 I attach the complete logs of SMART on pastebin and I would appreciate it if you would orient me to this strange problem Thanks to everyone!WD20EFRX - WD Red with DUO v1
I see some interest in this drive working on the DUO v1 and thought my recent experience could be useful. Other threads reference this topic but are slightly off from the original titles so I hope starting a new post is proper etiquette. If you are a DUO v1 user, are interested in this drive and don't need to purchase urgently it could be worthwhile waiting for the Netgear guys to finish their testing of the WD20EFRX to see if it gets on the HCL. After a disk failure it was time for a replacement and upgrade to 2TB. I have two backups (one offsite), the mirrored disk and all data can be replicated from other sources so I was not worried at all about my data which is for home use only. A local warehouse stocked the WD Caviar Green WD20EARX, it was on the HCL so off I went. The sales guy warned me about issues with Green drives on a NAS and sold me the new WD20EFRX confirming the WD site shows the ReadyNAS DUO as compatible (no version mentioned). Please no scoffing, but at the time I didn't even know there was a v1 and v2 and didn't even spot this on the HCL (going blind), perhaps WD should amend their site for us numpties. To sumarise the last 4 days: --> A couple of weeks ago I had upgraded to RAIDiator 4.1.9 via frontview (it showed there was a new version) ---> Removed the bad disk, backed up all data from the good one (I already had another which is the same but...) --> Shutdown, inserted the first disk and performed a factory reset. First power up hung, found on forum powering off and on would fix it --> Format and resync went fine. --> Added second disk, format and resync went fine. --> Connected USB backup drive. DUO hung had to power off physically. --> Resync ran but when complete ran again automatically, restarted with volume scan all ok. --> Restored approx 360gb data --> Not happy with previous resync. Ran manually. It went twice again but left it. Finished OK. Not sure if the double resyncs are normal but apart from that I am impressed. The disks are very quiet, I can't hear them...unlike the old Samsungs. The fan used to run at 2700rpm and now runs at around 1700rpm, it is the stock fan and has made it much more quiet. Access to the data is great from both windows and Mountain Lion. I did not post this to recomend rushing out to get this disk for a DUO v1 immediately and as mdgm states please use the HCL. But it might encourage you to wait for Netgear as it does look hopeful. I am still a bit uncomfortable with my unsupported disk situation but am not in the warranty period anyway...the double resyncs maybe a concern too. If there are problems perhaps my wife will authorise a "v2" upgrade so not the end of the world, unless I physically trash them. I have listed the SMART stats from disk one, disk two is similar but 2 degrees cooler. Sorry for the naff formatting. My old Samsungs had numbers all over the place, this to the untrained eye looks pretty good (no LCC's). I searched on the lpstats parameter and it seems to be no issue, indeed when I did a volume scan it seemed to reset this parameter. Hi Guys, and Girls, I have an RNDU2000 with 2 HHD 2TO in raid 1, i would like to uprgrade for more space, if it's possible i would like to upgrade for 2 HHD 4TO in raid1. Any one have try this configuration? and wich HDD choose, WD40EFRX ? Many thanks in advance, i don't find any reponse on this question on google :roll:ReadyNAS NV+ ate my WD20EZRX (2TB Green)?
Hi guys, I bought two WD20EZRX - 00D8PB0 2TB "Green" drives to fit in my NV+ (v1, I guess - the PCB still says "Infrant"). The WD Green 20EARX model is on the compatibility list, and the EZRX should be equivalent according to the scheme on http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/library/o ... 001028.pdf (To head off some obvious questions, these are brand-new OEM component drives from a reputable supplier, not discount disks farmed from retail portable HDs. I've also used WD Green in video streaming applications with no problems. ) I did the usual backup of the existing volume, then power down, removed my existing HDs, did a Factory Reset on the NAS (my original firmware used 4k blocksize, so the original volume did too), and inserted one of the disks. After a long initialisation, I got a "Bad disk" error, so I tried the other instead, only to get the same thing. Unfortunately, not only do these disks now not work, but after their trip through the ReadyNAS, they won't even register on my desktop PC's SATA controller. Attempting to use them in a Dell PC results in a spurious "Password Required" message from the BIOS (the EZRX doesn't have a password feature). Mounting the disk in a USB enclosure looks better at first, but it is impossible to partition the disk - the partitioning operation times out. I'm in the process of RMAing the disks, but I'm concerned that all I'll get is another pair of sacrificial WD20EZRX. So, any idea what's going on here, and any ideas on how I can get my disks back if the RMA is rejected?WD60EFRX WD Red 6TB For ReadyNAS104?
Fry's has started offering the WD 6TB Network NAS HDD SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache for $239. I know this new drive is not on the official compatibility list. Will the RN104 support 6TB drives? If so, how long will it take for this drive to be evaluated/approved? http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=810#Tab3Can WD20EARS run side by side with a WD20EZRX hard drive.
Hi, I am very new here, so I apologise for posting a question that may have already been answered. I have a Netgear ReadyNAS NV+V2 (4bay). At the moment I have 4 WD20EARS Caviar Green hard drives running. I need to buy another hard drive to replace one of them and I am having a lot of trouble getting the same model hard drive here in Australia. Most suppliers stock the WD20EZRX Caviar Green hard drive which I hear is a later model. I am wondering whether this will be a problem or whether it is compatible to run side by side with the WD20EARS hard drives? Thanking you in advanced for your help in this matter.Use 4x WD40EFRX WD Red 4TB ReadyNAS NVX pioneer edition

Regards JanWD60EFRX WD red in Ultra4+ ?
Time to upgrade my trusty old Ultra4+. ATM its running 4TB red disks and im eyeing the new WD60EFRX. But there seems to be a total lack of info on compatibility from Netgear. Surelly they have a few of theese disks and can try test them ? Tho im not holding my breath since my NAS still after ages dont officially support the WD40EFRX ...... Plz netgear, step up your game. Other manufacturers have disks on the compatibility lists before they are available to customers.
