How to Change Ethernet network name?
When I orginally changed my SSID for the wirless settings, it also changed the ethernet network name that is showing up on my windows 10. I then had to change the SSID a 2nd time (b/c I mis-spelled it the first time). The SSID changed as it should, but the ethernet network name did not chnage after that. Is there a way to change the ethernet network name for the NETGEAR R6220 Router? and if not then how did the name get changed in the first place?SolvedUnable to obtain IP address from WNDR4300v2 after setting as access point
I have to admit, this is my first time trying to extend my wireless range, and I'm confused by the whole access point concept. It seems like what I really want is a repeater, but that mode isn't available on the 4300v2. I have two 4300v2 units. One is set as a normal wifi router. I want to setup a second 4300v2 to extend the range of this "base" router. Ideally, I want the wifi SSID and passcode to be the same between the two wifi units. So the wireless client can move seamlessly between the two without having to make new connections. When I follow the instructions to set the second unit as an Access Point, it gets assigned an IP from the original router as 10.0.0.1. I then take the access point and move it away from the original router. Just within wireless range of the original router. I don't connect anything to the WAN port of the AP. My wifi client has good signal from the AP, but is unable to obtain an IP address. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!Solved4.1KViews0likes3CommentsCan't find QoS Priority Rule options for WNR1000v4
The subject pretty much covers it all. I wanted to set up priority rules and manage traffic by using the QoS options in the advanced settings for my router. But there's simply no option for priority rules. Maybe there's something in one of my other settings that somehow blocked it? I'm not sure what the deal is. Any help would be appreciated. I intend to change a QoS rule for a certain device. For example, change the priority from high to low for a device with MAC address as xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx. The rule with high priority already exists and therefore, if I add a new rule with low priority, I will get the error msg as "duplicated MAC address". And the old rule cannot be replaced by the new one. Any idea how can I erase the old one and set it as the new one? I only find the add button but no delete button.... The internet light randomly turned amber and the internet did not work. But with some tweaking I got the internet back working, however the internet light is still amber. How is that even possible?
