Hello everybody, we would like to use NMS300 to save the config of our 40 Netgear Switches (M4100 series, different models) automatically every night, but this requires telnet to be enabled on all switches (confirmed by Netgear Expert Bruce_G: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Managed-Switches/NMS300-config-backup-with-telnet-disabled/m-p/1161992/thread-id/2682#M2753) I think that transmitting a password for administrative access in cleartext over the network isn't best practice, especially for a product which claims to be enterprise ready. Would you please implement an option for a scheduled config saving and other mass actions like firmware update for all switches via an encrypted conection? It should be possible to disable telnet on the switches without disabling any funcionality (apart from logging in via telnet of course..) ;-) Thanks in advance! Hi, I picked up a 3 unit Orbi from Costco yesterday, and pluged it all in and it worked perfectly without any configuration. But I cant seem to get into a configuration mode where I can change the SSID. I did not plug anything into the "internet" jack, I pluged my wired network into the switch on the "router" and turned on the other units and used its wifi backbone to connect other wired devices. Worked great! But without anything pluged into the "internet" jack, I don't seem to be able to get to a configuration screen of any kind. Both the AP and the orbilogin.com tells me I'm not connected to the internet, even though when I use the default ORBI SSID, I can browse the internet just fine. I do not want to use the ORBI for my router firewall...I have one of those, I just want to use it like I am, but I want to change the SSID! any ideas? Do I actually need to use the orbi for the "firewall" to initially get into the config? Thanks! --KeithNMS300 config backup with telnet disabled?
Hello everybody, we would like to use NMS300 to save the config of our 40 Netgear Switches automatically every night, but it seems that this requires telnet to be enabled on all switches. Is this by design or did I miss something? Transmitting a password for administrative access in cleartext over the network isn't best practice - to say the least... Any thoughts? Thanks in advance! Ok, so I have an AC791L hot spot and I want to give it more wireless range and connect ethernet devices to the C6300 and have the C6300 wirelessly connect to the AC791L... I believe this is called a bridge... WIll this work in this configuration? And I've searched but all the owner's manual states is set bridge mode... Well that doesn't work... There must be more to it that I am not seeing... A repeater might do the wireless stuff, but I need to be able to hook up ethernet cables to the C6300... Pleae help! I am not uing the C6300 s a router for cable internet it is stand alone... Any pointers to the config docs would be appreciated... Recently installed an all Netgear network and runs great. Apart from not being able to use WDS to deploy Windows images. WDS server, DHCP server and clients are all in the same VLAN so not trying to get it to work over multiple VLANS. I'm sure it's something really simple that I've missed. Also, Wake On Lan seems to have stopped working too. I'm back on customer site next week to look into this so any help would be appreciated3KViews0likes2Comments
