degraded
6 TopicsDisaster on a readynas 314 - need advice please
Going to simplify this - essentially this is all because of the 6.9.2 update causing NAS to not boot up after update. Not happy. I had 2 x 3TB drives as RAID1 in a 4 bay NAS. I installed a new 3TB drive hoping to mirror on to this, but didnt realise when I clicked add parity it turned the 3 drives into a RAID5. Resync started. I panicked, went and bought a new 4TB drive, put it in the NAS. Was in the admin / volumes page, and was hoping to make the 4TB drive a new partition, but it was late, and I thought I had clicked the 4TB, but I had clicked the 3TB that the RAID5 was syncing on, and clicked make new volume. When I realised what I did, I literally froze in shock (this is all my research / families data, and I was trying to be safe with it). I let the resync finish, which it did, and then I thought to my self I'll shutdown the NAS. Only for it to not boot again (in hind sight I should have just copied the data to the new 4TB then and there). Nothing would boot so I did a whole lot of resetting things (but with the new 4TB drive in only, new OS). I now have a fresh 4TB single drive system and when I add in the 3 other drives they show up as red in the volumes section. So basically I feel like I have a degraded RAID5 set of 3 disks (2 of which I think should be good) that won't boot. I am considering putting back in the 3 original disks (or 2, and reinstalling the OS on them from the boot menu?) WHat are my other options? I have downlaoded the logs using raidr but only when the NAS has booted using the 4TB drive, and then I insert the other 3TB drives (and they show up red). Also are others having really odd intermittent booting issues after the 6.9.2 update. Even on the new fresh install booting (and boot menu booting) are hit and miss.] ReadyNAS need your help!2.4KViews0likes12CommentsReadynas 102 restarts services constantly - unable to access data.
My ReadyNas 102 running firmware 6.7.4, seems to be constantly restarting services. I'm sometimes able to see the shares... sometimes even get a few files..., but then it "disappears" and the network location is gone. ... until a minute or so later. Even the web-ui ... I'm sometimes able to see the status-screen before it jumps back into a loading-page waiting for the ui to become responsive again. I've tried reinstalling the OS, but it didn't work. I was thinking about flashing new firmware, but that requires the services to be open long enough for the process to finish.... Is it possible to connect the drive to a computer - windows or linux... and get the data through USB? The drive seems to be ok, although; It's the remains of a degraded RAID-1 setup. Hello community, First of all i would like to express my dissapointment about this device on multiple levels.. its like i knew this would happen at some point. the NAS was constantly reporting that disk1 is about to fail so i bought a new one (the same) and hot-swap removed the old and insert the new. It started rebuilding the raid (X-Raid) and everything was normal and accesible. After several days the new disk was getting ready. At the exact point of getting ready another disk (number 3) turned from normal to failed.... and the Data is degraded and no volume is accesible. Which means disaster..thank you Netgear!!1.6KViews0likes10CommentsRAID 1 Issue - Volume Degraded after HDD replacement
I hava ReadyNAS 104 with firmware 6.6.1. Inside it I had 1 TB, 1TB, 3 TB and 6 TB HDDs, the two first configured as RAID 1. I had a RAID 1 with 2 HDD of 1TB, but one of them stop working. While I receive a new one, a replace the broken one with a 2 TB HDD (I know I'm loosing 1 TB of space). It was detected as part of the RAID 1, and started syncronizing. After it was sincronized, the HDD status change from SYNC to ONLINE, but the volume status is DEGRADED. I think the problem is that the 2 TB HDD is set as SPARE instead of ACTIVE SYNC. If you get the raid detail you see that there are 2 working devices, but only 1 active devices. As you can see, the status is clean, degraded. # /sbin/mdadm --detail /dev/md125 /dev/md125: Version : 1.2 Creation Time : Thu May 28 13:29:45 2015 Raid Level : raid1 Array Size : 971912832 (926.89 GiB 995.24 GB) Used Dev Size : 971912832 (926.89 GiB 995.24 GB) Raid Devices : 2 Total Devices : 2 Persistence : Superblock is persistent Update Time : Tue Apr 25 09:51:21 2017 State : clean, degraded Active Devices : 1 Working Devices : 2 Failed Devices : 0 Spare Devices : 1 Name : 2fe53622:Personal-0 (local to host 2fe53622) UUID : e9cdfd26:c97e9f56:51e0ac36:3c2bb179 Events : 116364 Number Major Minor RaidDevice State 0 8 51 0 active sync /dev/sdd3 2 0 0 2 removed 1 8 67 - spare /dev/sde3 Can anyone help me?5.2KViews0likes9Commentsvolume data is degraded

Was expanding our X-RAID volume with the first of three disks. (Started with 7, and the goal is 10) The rebuild was started, but after 14 hours: How can I solve this? The only "fix" I´ve found here in the forum is to re-insert the disk. That feels a bit risk with a NAS for about 40 people.... Can I continue the expansion with the other 2 disks? Aperently the support is no longer valid and it´s not even possible to send them an e-mail.Solved4.7KViews0likes3Comments
