2 TopicsR7000: Device Name / Access Control
I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature. Mind you, this is exactly the bug/feature I was searching for in the R7000. I've a R7000 at F/W 1.0.5.48_1.1.79. The inability to assign device names of my choosing had me bummed. The consensus in the community is that it cannot be done. Here's something I have found that works for me, and seems to be persistent through router / device / network rebooting. From the Basic tab, select "Attached Devices". You'll see a link above the refresh button "Go to Access Control to allow or block devices." Go to Access Control and check "Turn on Access Control". Then, check a device you want to edit and just edit the Device Name. Click "Apply >". That's it. Doesn't look like it breaks anything else... so far (I've been using this "feature" for a few months).Solved15KViews1like9CommentsLan connection LEDs, device names, and LAN connection numbers
Hi there Just bought my R8000. I have wired my iMac, Apple TV, NAS, and Pioneer receiver. 2 issues: 1.Some of the LAN port LEDs are red. 2. Apple TV is definitely plugged into LAN port 3, but in the Attached Devices page, it shows as port 2. 3. there are 2 items in the Attached Devices list that do display a name. Can I name them for convenience sake? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer! JohnSolved3.3KViews0likes2Comments
