I live in a building that gives me their router with their Internet connection. I can't change their router. Their router, of course, doesn't allow to perform any basic tasks like setting up static addresses. This is an issue for smart home devices that are supposed to have a static IP. I have a C7000v2. Is it possible to connect this router to the main router via Ethernet, and allow the Netgear to create its own network (totally separated from the main one)? I think this is called double NAT, is that correct? I know it's possible to set it up as an AP with a workaround, but I'd have to disable DHCP which defeats the main purpose of what I'm trying to do. I also know it's recommended not to have a double NAT, but I would keep connecting my own devices to the main network, so this wouldn't be an issue.460Views0likes1CommentCM1000v2 - is this dual band or can I change it to 2.4GHz to connect a camera?
I am attempting to connect a KASA tp-link camera to my network and it requires 2.4GHz. My CM1000v2 is 5GHz. Can I change the router configuration so I can connect the camera? If so, How? I tried to logon using the IP and it won't connect on my computer.656Views0likes2CommentsCAX80 and Xfinity mid/high split (Next Generation)
Xfinity rolled out mid/high split ("Next Generation") in my area of CA, promising 100Mbps upload instead of 10-20Mbps depending on the plan. I understand that Netgear might not commit officially, but what are the odds CAX80 eventually supports mid/high split, and will that require both (1) Netgear-side firmware update (2) Xfinity-side 'modification' and push of that firmware update? Or is there something inherently missing in CAX80 hardware? For reference, Xfinity's official supported-device list only included (for Netgear) the CBR750 and CM3000 until 2/29/24, but on 3/14/24 they added the CM2500 too. https://assets.xfinity.com/assets/dotcom/projects/cix-4997_compatible-devices/2024.03.14%20Full%20List%20of%20Compatible%20Devices.pdf1.6KViews0likes2CommentsAc1900 C7000v2 router/modem 5ghz wifi cutout
My 5Ghz wifi loses all data speed when downloading a game or large file. It start fine, gets to 15-20 mb/s then drops to 0mb/s over 5 to 10 seconds. My regular 2.4ghz downloads just fine, the issue is only with the 5ghz. Has anyone had this issue, and have they found a solution? I tried resetting all my pc's network adapters, but I'm leaning towards it being the router.611Views0likes1CommentNetgear C7000v2 USB Not showing NAS (Network Attached Storage)
I have a c7000v2 Netgear router/modem. I am trying to install a NAS to the USB port located at the top of the router. I have a 64 Gig Flash drive plugged in. When I log into the router, the Genie software runs. At the home tab the USB Icon in the middle of the second row shows a green READY notation. When I click on the USB icon/button it takes me to a second screen showing USB Storage (Basic Settings). Basic radio button is pushed. Network/Device name is listed as \\readyshare. Available Network Folders has NO DEVICE LISTED. Buttons EDIT and Safely Remove USB Device are AVAILABLE. (When no Flash drive in USB Port these buttons are not available.) Under the Advanced Tab/Advanced Setup/USB Settings I have Enable any USB Device connected to the USB port YES. When I click on Approved Devices I see my USB Drive name listed under Available Devices Device Name Is Generic USB Storage and space is 60 gig. I selected it with the radio button and added it to the Approved Devices List. The Allow Only Approved Devices check box IS NOT CHECKED. These Setting have been saved. After all of this and pressing Refresh a couple of times after a few minutes, the Basic Settings still DOES NOT LIST MY DEVICE. I cannot find this device on my network although with windows I can see \\readyshare available under NETWORKS. However clicking on it shows nothing and I cannot copy anything to it. The Flash drive is formatted NTFS and there are a couple of folders created at the root level. Any help getting my flash drive to show up in the USB Basic settings I feel would correct the problem but I cannot figure out what else to do. Any help would be GREATLY APPREIATED. REGARDS and THANKS FOR READING and RESPONDING.1.2KViews0likes2Commentsadmin interface doesn't support https?
Device is a CM1000v2 cable modem; hardware 2.02 firmware V10.01.07 and seems to be current. I'm surprised that the admin interface is not TLS enabled, and that there is nothing listening on 443? Is that intentional, or is have I made a mistake somewhere? I suppose if the box becomes compromised I can always reset it, but it seems like this would be a basic IoT protection? --woody13KViews0likes13CommentsC7000v2
I have been running my Nighthawk router/modem for a few years. At the same time, I added an Orbi router with a remote to try and boost the signal. I have heard that leaving the Nighthawk broadcasting on its 5G and other channel can cause complications if all the devices in the house or running off the Orbi. What is the simplest way to shut off the router part of the Nighthawk to see if this will stop the weird stuff that occurs from time to time. In other words, just use the Nighthawk as a modem only and let it drive the Orbi of course. Anyone know about this and is it the same if an Orbi is used instead of an Eero?891Views0likes2CommentsNighthawk CAX30 + Xfinity (AZ) Can anyone explain?
The Nighthawk CAX30 is advertised as 2.7Gbps download speed. Mu current plan with Xfinity is 1.2Gbps down. What I have come to understand is that Ethernet tops out at 1Gbps, and Wifi is faster? Anyway, my consistent wireless speed tests reveal around 400Mbps down, and around 900Mbps down (ethernet). Why is this advertised as a 2.7 Gbps down modem router? It's a little frustrating to say the least.Solved1.8KViews0likes1Comment
