I have my ReadyNAS 202 connected to my home network's wifi router via network cable. From work, I tried to upload a folder which had about 300 files totaling about 100 Mb by dragging and dropping the folder from my Win 7 machine at work to the web interface of ReadyCloud on readycloud.netgear.com. I found that after it finished copying the folder, that each file was duplicated. For example, 20160709_194445.jpg 20160709_194445 (1).jpg I had to manually remove each file which was a pain.2.7KViews0likes4Commentssetting up custom shared folders for windows users
I have had my readynas with OS 6.X for some time. i was lazy and getting head aches trying to figure it out. but i decided its time i actually use it to its potential. i have stuided the user manual, but still get angry at its lake of detial (at leat for someone like me who has never set up a NAS before). i was hoping someone could give me a "for dummies" explanation/guide. but really any help is much appreciated. what i want to do: have a Video shared folder with different levels of privlegas for folders within. (i do not mind moving folders outside of "video" folder and into root folder, i just like it organized like below. (but if i need to make a "Videos Public" and "Videos Private", i can do that if needed). Videos (folder): - gopro raw (folder) - I am only one who can see/edit/access folder and videos (raw gopro footage) - gopro final (folder) - contains edited gopro videos i want to share with every computer - anyone on network can read (only i can edit/add/delete) - workouts (folder) contains my p90x / T25 - anyone on network can read (to access from computer connected to TV or from laptops. (only i can edit/add/delete) now, where i am really confused is how to set it up for access, both as far as user accounts on nas and for mapping to windows 7. somehow a while back i was able to map the "GoPro final" folder to my main windows 7 computer. i can drag and drop folders to/from it with ease. but when i try to drag/drop to the "GoPro" folder it says i do not have the right. i can open the gopro folder with file explorer and read files though. when i try to map the "gopro" folder it asks for a username and password. i have tried "admin" with the readynas password. i have tried Carlos (account on readynas) with its password. but none work. for accounts on the NAS, i have: Admn, Carlos , test. i am not sure how those connect to windows users? so basically, how do i create a share folder? specifically, how do i map it in windows 7? how do i create a share that only i can access/see? how to i create a share anyone can read from? BROWNIE POINTS: can i map a drive to a computer at another geo location. for instance i want to map my "Gopro Final" folder to windows 7 computer (read only) at my girlfiends house (different city).4.2KViews0likes13CommentsAdvanced option on ReadyNas backup
