13 TopicsReadyNAS4312 HyperV VHD over iSCSI or SMB? RR4312
Hello. We have a new ReadyNAS RR4312. It has 10*2TB SATAs. It will be used to hold the VHDX files from a Windows Server 2016 HOST. The HOST & NAS are connected via 2*10GB SFP+ The HOST server has 2*300GB SAS drives, RAID1 and will also have a VHDX for a WIndows 2016 Server SQL server guest. The VHDX to be stored on the Ready NAS if for the DC/F&P Windows Server 2016 standard. We want best performance for the VHDX stored on the NAS over the 10GB SFP+ to the Server Host (A Fuitsu rack server) iSCSI or SMB? Which would be quicker for VHD access from the Windows HOST? Maybe the NAS storage should be split from the autoconfigured X-RAID (raid 6) to maybe a RAID1 for the VHDX volume to give it more speed, and the remaining 8 disks be reset up as X-RAID (If this is possible?)4.4KViews0likes2Comments[RN104] How to set up UPS monitoring?
Via searching I've come across several posts that address only parts of what I'd like to do, but aren't applicable to the task as a whole. Here's my setup: RN104 Hyper-V 2012 R2 (Server Core chopped off at the knees—CLI only) APC SMC1000 (no networking w/this model) I've got some iSCSI LUNs on the RN104 that're used by the server, thus the server needs to shut down first—preferably at least five minutes sooner. What's my best approach? Should the NAS somehow push a command out to the server or should the server poll the NAS? How would I do this in any case? Server A running Windows 2012 R2: I want to use it as a Hyper-V Replica Server with the replica storage location to be on the ReadyNas. I setup a normal SMB share on the NAS with full access to everyone. It connects just fine and creates the default replica shares. Server B 2012 VM: I configured it for replication to Server A. It verifies connectivity but fails on the last step in the wizard -cannot enable replication to specified server. I then change the replica storage location on Server A to a non ReadyNas device then Server B replicates just fine. So its something with writing to the ReadyNas from Server B. Again, I have everyone full access on the ReadyNas share. Any suggestions? I'm at a road block and really would like to replicate to the ReadyNas.4.5KViews0likes1CommentWould I benefit from using HyperV on NAS?
I have a 4200 V2, the spec on the NAS and my Server 2012 box are identical except my Server has 16Gb of ram. At the moment, I only use the NAS to store files, my Server 2012 machine host a Win 8 VM for my Blue Iris security cam software. I've expanded to more cameras and my VM is using almost max CPU with just blue iris running. Would I benefit by running the Win 8 VM and Blue Iris on the NAS?4.5KViews0likes2CommentsHyperV/4220 - Remote SMB share does not support resiliency.
I have a 4220 I want to use for Hyper V (2012 R2 Standard) over SMB. I tried to move a virtual machine from local storage over to the 4220 SMB share and receive the error: "Remote SMB share does not support resiliency." This KB article (https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2920193) seems to point to this being fixed with SMB3, that it should only occur with SMB1 and 2. But, I have installed SMB Plus and confirmed my 4220 is using SMB3. Upgraded to OS 6.1.9 and same issue occurs.7.9KViews0likes4Commentsrn2120 - freezes! help!!!

I am trying to set up the ReadyNAS 3200 (4.2.22) as a storage provider in SCVMM 2012. VMM is asking for either an SMI-S provider or an SMP provider but does not see the ReadyNAS as such. I have an iSCSI LUN set up but i have found no other way to attach the 3200 LUN to VMM to expose the storage. Is there any support for SMI or SMP in the ReadyNAS? If not, is there any plans to add it in the future?3.3KViews0likes2CommentsREADYNAS 2100 can support MS Offload Data Transfer (ODX)
Hi Some one, know if READYNAS 2100 can support MS Offload Data Transfer (ODX) featured included in Windows Server 2012. That is perfect to live migration with out overhead the LAN. Netgear will planning include this feature?3.9KViews0likes1Comment
