I have Several ReadyNAS 4312 Model storage devices that my Nessus Scan is detecting the device uses Medium Strength ciphers Supported. I have updated the NAS to version 6.9.4 however this did not re-mediate the issue. Since I updated my RN628X to firmware 6.9.4 I see the drive that I linked to my windows 10 PC via iSCSCI is disappearing. The changes that the drive disappears seems to grow when there is a lot of data being exchanged over it. Is this a known issue of firmware 6.9.4 and is it bering worked on and is there a solution for in the meantime?597Views0likes0CommentsVery poor performance on iSCSI
Starting situation: Windows 2012R2 with MPIO with 2 gigabit adapters. RN316 with 6.9.3, 6 Drives full. When a backup starts from the other NAS (same model) to this one (both DR or rsync) the iSCSI completely hangs. I have replicated machines from another Hyper-v on this iSCSI and the replica stops, the disk is lost, then re-appears but writes at some kb/sec. Just trying to create a directory on the disk takes hours (literally). So I started removing MPIO, using only 1 adapter. Same thing. Changed adpaters/cabling/switch: same thing. I removed the backups and only kept the iSCSI for the Hyper-V replica, it works but with very low performance. I mean 300 mbit peak going up and down to 0. It takes forever to replicate VMs. I use a thick 2.5T volume (with and without sync writes, problems are the same) I already discarded ReadyNAS solutions to have live hyper-v machines because it was badly off with performance, but I thought having replicas can be done. I was wrong. Looking at the data I get from SNMP I discovered the NAS is completely overloaded on the CPU side. The attached graph is from the NAS receiving a single VM replica and doing nothing else. The second graph is the network (peaks are at 300 mbit). From the same server I can pump to another brand NAS near to full gigabit speed (same cisco switch, same network adapter). What can I check to achieve decent performance and maybe have a backup starting without killing all the rest? Thanks7.2KViews0likes21CommentsRN2120 advertised storage, iSCSI volume, diagnostics
I've got a RN2120 with 4x 4TB disks loaded. Firmware was updated earlier in the week to 6.9.3. RAIDar finds it OK, tells me everything is fine and the available Diagnostics complete without error. I can login to it OK and all seems well. However, maybe it isn't configured correctly or there is some other issue because....... 1. In the iSCSI screen I can create a group but when I try and create a new LUN it reports that the max size available is just 8TB. I would expect that if I only had 3 drives but I have 4 of them. 2. No matter what LUN I create, it doesn't actually seem to get created. Well, nothing is ever displayed put it that way! Could this be down to a setting I've missed, a drive reporting that it's healthy when it isn't? Are there any proper system diagnostics tools around? Thanks in advanceSolved1.6KViews0likes8CommentsReadyNAS 4312 (or similar) - RAID config and expansion
Hi, I need help with a decision. We'd like 20TB of storage for both iSCSI LUN HyperV VHD virtualisation and general SMB3 data (with snapshots). One volume. The 12 bay RR4312S is a model we are familar with. We'd like the space to be easily upgradable in the future - cost is a consideration right now or we'd use bigger disks right away. We want to use RAID10. Is RAID10 an XRAID option? Whenever I've tried on the online calculator XRAID RAID 6 is chosen each time. So, if RAID10 isn't an XRAID option what do I do? Which is the best suggestion for populating it now with an eye on the future (4 years hence) in terms of expanding Flex Raid. Is Vertical less hassle than Horizontal? Therefore should we fill all 12 bays now then add bigger disks one by one in the future - i.e. vertically? Or do we leave chassis space for a horizontal expansion? Many thanks, Andy.1.2KViews0likes1CommentReadyNAS 2120 v2 Missing Volume after reboot
Recently upgraded to 6.9.3. 2120 with 4x4TB drives Now after a reboot - NAS advises that no volume exists when I navigate to view the iscsi LUNS, which is all we really use. we did have a \data volume with 2GB free! all other configuration is present and correct - even the LUNS are listed NAS is only used as vmware datastore location, backups were made to faclilitate file level recovery using veamm - to another iscsi lun on same NAS (which is also inaccessible) any guidance would be appreciated1.6KViews0likes5CommentsAllow only one network interface for iSCSI
Hi, I know this type of questions have been asked long back but am hoping there is a way around it. I have ReadyNAS 4220 with one active 1Gb and one active 10Gb network interfaces. The problem is my initiator connects to the target with two IPs in the port group (one for 1Gb and the other for 10Gb). The initiator always connects to the 1Gb which is not desirable. Is there a way to restrict iSCSI traffic to only the 10Gb interface? The initiator is Windows Server 2012 R2. When creating the connection, I did specify the 10Gb interface to connect but it still shows up connecting to the 1Gb even after the server was rebooted. And the port group on the initiator side shows both IPs but both have index 0. Thanks,1.6KViews0likes2CommentsHELP!!! Trying to establish a MGMT port on one of my 1 Gb NIC ports and establish iSCSI network on
Hi, I am trying to create / establish one of my four 1 Gb NIC ports as a MGMT port on my MGMT VLAN to access the ReadyNAS admin console for management purposes then utilize my two 10 Gb NIC ports on my iSCSI VLAN for backup / data traffic. I have viewed the network settings and notice that I can create VLAN settings for the individual NIC's, as well as, create routes, but I am not sure what I really need to accomplish my plan. However, whenever I attempt this by physically plugging in the cables on their respective switch ports on the switches, it doesn't work and accessing the admin console becomes very laggy at best if at all. Is there an article or directions someone can point me to or explain the steps I need to take to set this ReadyNAS 4220X to be used in this manner? Or is it even possible? If you need further details to assist me, please let me know. Thanks in advance.Solved2.3KViews0likes11Comments
