10 TopicsInsight management for older switches
Having recently (less than 18 months) deployed multiple GS728TPP switches, and now deploying new offices with the Insight management series, it would be great to have a firmware update to allow these older switches to be managed. I would be willing to pay for the firmware upgrade for this functionality! (rather than have to replace each switch!)2.7KViews1like0CommentsSeagate ST4000VN000 new version
I have a legacy Business Pro ReadyNas that is still working. I want to replace a 3GTB drive with a 4TB drive. There are only three items on the legacy approved list: Seagate, HGST and WD. In the past I've had problems with the WD Reds as well as the HGSTs. The Seagate is the ST4000VN000, but it is no longer a current Seagate model. Has anyone used another 4TB Seagate NAS/Enterprise drive in an old Business Pro? Worked OK? Suggestions? Thank you in advance.6.8.1 on legacy RNS6U boot issues - upgraded usb package?
As i updated my backup NAS RNSU6 today it stuck in shutting down. After rebboting manually it is stuck on displaying "Readynas". I would love to try an USB firmware recovery but the last version available is 6.7.4 as "Raidar Version". Any chance an update is to be released soon? i know it is unofficial, but the Backup NAS should be up again keeping all the data of my RNS516 in a save spot. I was forced to update to OS6 caused by incompabilities in the rsync protocoll. Hoping for a little help Skywalker mdgm-ntgr Thanks in advance Best BenediktSolved1.8KViews0likes6CommentsShares goes read-only after a while after upgrade to 6.8.0
Hi, After upgrading to 6.8.0 I have a strange behavior. After every boot, everything is fine for some time (up to half an hour) and then file system goes read only. After boot: root@NasSebUltra6:/# mount | grep -v snapshot | grep '(ro' tmpfs on /sys/fs/cgroup type tmpfs (ro,nosuid,nodev,noexec,mode=755) After some time: root@NasSebUltra6:/# mount | grep -v snapshot | grep '(ro' tmpfs on /sys/fs/cgroup type tmpfs (ro,nosuid,nodev,noexec,mode=755) /dev/md127 on /data type btrfs (ro,noatime,nodiratime,nospace_cache,subvolid=5,subvol=/) /dev/md127 on /home type btrfs (ro,noatime,nodiratime,nospace_cache,subvolid=256,subvol=/home) /dev/md127 on /apps type btrfs (ro,noatime,nodiratime,nospace_cache,subvolid=257,subvol=/.apps) /dev/md127 on /run/nfs4/home type btrfs (ro,noatime,nodiratime,nospace_cache,subvolid=256,subvol=/home) Strange thing is, there no new entry in system logs. It juste goes in readonly until next reboot. I launched a scrub just in case, but I don't really believe it will chance anything. Does anyone have some idea about how to solve this ?Solved1.5KViews0likes3CommentsReadyNAS Pro Business Edition Hard Drive
I'm looking for the compatibility list for hard drives, specifically for legacy products. I have a hard drive in a Business Pro that's had increasing reallocated sector counts. Does the compatibility list still exist? I have not been able to find it. Also, I upgraded this Business Pro to 6.6.0 last year and it's been working fine. I see there is a newer version, 6.6.1. I generally like to keep OSs current, but I'm leary because it's such an old unit and I know it's not supposed to officially support 6.6.n. I'd like to hear if anyone else has one of these older units from 6.6.0 to 6.6.1. Thank you in advance.SolvedMigrate drives from ReadyNAS NVX to ReadyNAS 212
I've searched in this forum but I could not find a answer to my problem. The power supply to my old ReadyNAS NVX (4 bays) died, so I bought a new ReadyNAS 212 (2 Bays). I am left with the 2 drives from my NVX, which were mirrored (Raid1) that I need to migrate to the RN212. I found useful information on how to migrate at this link: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29957?cid=wmt_netgear_organic Unfortunately when I insert the drive from my legacy ReadyNAS NVX into the RN212, the RN212 does not become available on the network and I can't access it. Can anyone here help? Thanks.3.4KViews0likes5CommentsOS6 on legacy Pro 6
Was going to reply to an existing thread, but it won't let me... ReadyNas Pro 6. Running with 4GB RAM and a Core 2 Duo E7600 (3.06 GHz) in it. Now that Plex have decided to stop new releases for OS4, I'll finally need to make the jump to OS6. So: Backup Download the prep4tor6 bin Upload it like an add-on, but don't reboot Download R4toR6 bin Upload it using the ReadyNAS web gui firmware update After you upload the addon/firmware and reboot, it will update the firmware and start a factory default. What is the latest version to use? In the directory the most recent ones I see are: R4toR6_6.5.1.bin R4toR6_latest-beta.bin R4toR6_latest.bin Are these right? Or is there "Get this particular version that's best for a Pro 6 and don't get a later version as it doesn't work as well" or something?4.4KViews0likes4CommentsPower Timer not turning on OS6 FW 6.4.1 - Legacy Ultra 6
I recently acquired an Ultra 6 Plus, which I upgraded to OS 6, FW 6.4.1, for use in backups. The Power Timer function (which I liked better in the old NV+ models, since I could specify minutes) turns the U6+ off, but does not turn it on. I'm currently using a cron entry on my DD-WRT router to do a WOL job to turn the U6+ on at the specified time (3:50am). Needless to say, it's a fix smacking of Rube Goldberg, though not as good as the one in this simple alarm clock (No, this is NOT my proposed fix, perfume is expensive, and so are cannonballs). Hardware: ReadyNAS Ultra 6 Plus Firmware: 6.4.1 Time: correct Power Timer: currently 2am to 11am (so I can verify it turned on for to do backups, will shorten to 6 or 7am when assured of regular backups) Backup jobs: currently 4am to 6am (rsync pulls) WOL: enabled DD-WRT router cron WOL job: 3:50AM Ay suggestions on how I can fix this? I'm willing to SSH in if need be, but not completely comfortable in linux. -kevinb1 (formerly imsai on infrant/netgear, how do I change my handle back?) P.S. I'm also getting fan underspeed warnings, but one thing at a time....SolvedTemperature spikeon Ultra 2 plus with no activity
I have Ultra 2 running OS 6.2.4 and everything is running fine so far for last 2-days. With all the early threads about temperature & Fan issues, I have been monitoring this alittle closer. My understanding is that all the fan issues are fixed now with OS 6.2.x. I purposly did not use the system over night to monitor the temperature in the morning. I noticed there were two temperature spikes in the middle of the night. See below. Why did they occur at 01:00 and 06:30? I did see some volume activity, but do not know what it was for. I have nothing running that I know of. There was no network or utilization activity. Nothing was mentioned in the log. I could not see temperature history with OS 4.2.27, so I never could see this. Volume sync finished 2-hours earlier. Getting ready to update 2-more legacy ultra+ systems to OS 6.2.4 and want to make sure all is okay before I update. Any thoughts as to what this was? Should I be concerned?Solved3.5KViews0likes3CommentsConfiguration issue with ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus on OS 6.2.4
I just upgraded my ReadyNAS Ultra 2plus (x86) from OS 4.2.27 to OS 6.2.4. And Yes, I do know this is not supported by Netgear. I followed the instructions from a previous thread posted on 4/1/2013 R4toR6_Prep_Addon.bin (26 KB) (upload first, don't reboot, avoids the need for manual factory default in between) R4toR6_6.1.9.bin (51.8 MB) (upload after addon) Everything worked fine and the system appears to be running fine, except one small issue. When I view the configuration under "System" then "Volumes", I see the wrong image of my ReadyNAS hardware. What I am getting looks like a Rackmount picture when I am using a Desktop Ultra 2 plus. See below: The picture configuration is correct on the "System" then "Overview" screen. Did I do something wrong? Is there a way to correct this? For now I have two new 6TB drives installed with no data on them yet. Hoping for a quick good answer.Solved8.2KViews0likes4Comments
