23 TopicsMigrating gracefully from ReadyNAS OS4 to OS 6 (Settings, Data)
I have a ReadyNAS Ultra 4 running RAIDiator 4.2.31 , and I am looking to move to a ReadyNAS OS 6 device as gracefully as possible. My current NAS is not damaged or dead, so no emergencies - I just want to minimize the amount of work I need to do to make the move happen. My current plan is to back up all the data onto an external drive, move the drives to the new chassis (which will wipe them), and then restore the data. So far, this part is fine. My question comes down to the settings - if I back up the settings on RAIDiator 4.2.31 (IP, Shares, Users & Security, etc.), can I restore them onto to OS 6 device? Is there another graceful way of migrating all my settings, so that I do not need to re-create them all by hand and reset permissions? Thank you!870Views0likes2CommentsWhich hardware compatibility to use for OS6.x on Legacy hardware?
Hi guys, Some time ago, I upgraded my ReadyNAS Pro 6 to OS6 and it's working flawlessly. Now I would like to upgrade the hard disks, and I'm considering a set of WD Red Pro WD6002FFWX 6TB drives, but I wonder what compatibility list applies to my configuration. Thanks.ReadyCloud install own built server
Recently built my own server for faster processing etc using amahi and having too many netowrk issues and cant creat raid arays, built it because the NASrn214 was not cutting it for 4k video streaming. too slow and constantly stutters. Is there a way to install Readycloud OS6 on the serve or or is it only supported for NetGear NAS?Solved1.7KViews0likes1CommentReadyNAS "Admin Page" is offline
Upgraded to firmware 6.7.5 through the web interface and now the unit is not responing via the browser at all. SMB share is still working Tried Rebooting Tried Reset via reset pin on back and selecting OS Reinstall - same issue Raidar Diagnostic will not connect, but raidar says unit is healthy ! I cannot download the logs because login is not working, I know the password before someone suggests password recovery. Looking at USB recovery but cannot get the tool to recognise any firmware to make a usb for me. Format USB to Fat32 and put these in root Reboot machine and hold backup for 30 seconds. Machine says booting from usb, then after a few minutes, resets and does FW Upgrade. But the firmware is still 6.7.5 ?? How to do it? What am I doing wrong? I know the issue is network adapter related because "\\192.168.1.101\folder" is working fine, but "\\192.168.1.147\folder" comes up with network error do i want to diagnose? If I factory reset it with different disks in it, can I the set it to x-raid and put back the original disks without losing data? Will factory reset put the original firmware back in or will it use 6.7.5 ? I really want to get this working again :( Many thanks for any help6.4KViews0likes26CommentsNo detection of "bad" power supply on ReadyNAS 4200V2 with OS6.7.5
Having recently seen a couple of posts from users with 3200's and 4200's with power supply issues, I ran an experiment and unplugged one of the supplies on my 4200V2 running OS6.7.5. While is beeped loudly, there was no message in the log that a power supply had failed. I don't have email alerts turned on, but my suspicion is that it would not have sent one, either. Pulling the supply completely silenced it, but there was still no entry in the log. It made no difference if this was done with power on or it was booted that way. I know OS6 is not officially supported, but it sure would be nice if it did properly detect this, as many with this type of unit administer them remotely. Do the newer rack-mount units with redundant supplies provide proper notification? I only ran this unit briefly with OS 4.2.x, but I am sure that it logged a power supply failure if one was not plugged in to a power source. I don't know if it complained if a supply was pulled completely (I suspect not, as that would be an intentional act).2.3KViews0likes0CommentsCan't all be bad .img files

This looks to be a bug in 6.6.1 using my Ultra 6 (legacy) NAS. And I can't make sense of what is wrong: We have a ducted air conditioned house at around 25 degrees ambient My "CPU temperature" seems to have a "floor" of at or around 35 degrees and doesn't deviate too much from it, no matter the load... My "System temperature" fluctuates more erratically and is a higher temperature I decided to run a stress test (using "stress" via SSH). I ran a 5 minute test, with results below: The graph says the light blue CPU temp fluctuates from 47 to 57 degrees - which does not align to the text temp under the graph. Same is true for dark-blue system, which temperate increase lags the light-blue CPU, but the text under the graph says it's the lower temperature. So I guess I am trying to say: The thermometer temp guages at the top should be switched around so the system temp is ~35 degrees and is relatively stable (given the Hard disks are between 33-37 degrees, and air conditioning at 25 degrees) and the CPU temperature should be at 47 degrees and fluctuate more widely with load... The text under the graph should also be swapped. Funny thing is, sensors via SSH shows: coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter CPU: +35.0°C (crit = +100.0°C) it8721-isa-0a10 Adapter: ISA adapter V5_0: +4.96 V (min = +4.76 V, max = +5.14 V) V3_3: +3.28 V (min = +3.13 V, max = +3.46 V) V1_8: +1.81 V (min = +1.50 V, max = +2.10 V) V-12: -12.10 V (min = -13.24 V, max = -10.73 V) 3VSB: +3.24 V (min = +3.14 V, max = +3.46 V) Vbat: +3.34 V System: 1205 RPM (min = 399 RPM) System: +52.0°C (low = +1.0°C, high = +80.0°C) sensor = thermal diode So OS6 web dashboard is showing what SENSORS is showing - but SENSORS has to be wrong... doesn't it?New OS6 NAS No Longer offers XRAID2(Raid6) option
with the original Business Pro NAS (6 drive bays) that shipped with OS Ver 4.x on the original Setup (or Factory reset) - you could specify XRAID2 - Dual Redunancy (XRAID6) Now if you upgrade this NAS to the latest 6.7.1 (it switches to XRAID5) or if you buy a NEW NAS with OS6 like RN716X you cannot get XRAID2(RAID6) because you only have 6 drives.. you must switch to FlexRAID6 here is the problem with XRAID2(Raid6) -vs- Flexraid6 lets say we have a NAS with the following drives (6TB, 1TB, 2.5TB, 4TB, 3TB, 500GB, 750GB) according to the Netgear Xraid Calulator under XRAID6 you would get 6.5Tib usable, 4.55Tib protection and 5Tib unused -vs - 2.5Tib usable 931Gib protection & 13Tib unused. So is the only way to get XRAID6 is to buy a NAS with 8 or 12 Bays? so would it actually be better to NOT upgrade from Ver4.x to 6.x on PRO6 if you value data protection dual redundancy & wanted maximum usable space -vs- flexraid - Lastly the release Notes for 6.7.1 says it now supports "additional FlexRaid options" and " single volume expansion" could someone explain this..SolvedReadyNAS 2120 crash every little
Hello, We have about a dozen NAS ReadyNAS, half are model 2120 and 2120v2. These models give us problems that make them unusable every little time: balance, defrag ... that last up to 22 days and with a load higher than 10 in the system, so the NAS are not operational. We need to know what is the necessary configuration so that no problems (job scheduling, firmware version...) These NAS worked correctly until they reached a particular firmware version: what is the reason they are no longer functional? Greetings.5.4KViews0likes16CommentsAuto clean "Recycle bin" on OS6.6 ?
I have looked though this post: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/Can-Recycle-Bin-be-enabled-for-CIFS-and-OS-6-1-2-on-a-314/td-p/856707 And I have successfully enabled the "recycle bin" on my NAS, it works fine excpet I have to empty it manually. I have crated a 'clean_recycle_bins' script and a 'recycle.conf' file according to the post, but when I try to run this scrip using " /frontview/bin/clean_recycle_bins start", I get this : "Can't locate Frontview.pm in @INC (you may need to install the Frontview module) (@INC contains: /frontview/lib /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/arm-linux-gnueabi/perl/5.20.2 /usr/local/share/perl/5.20.2 /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabi/perl5/5.20 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabi/perl/5.20 /usr/share/perl/5.20 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at /frontview/bin/clean_recycle_bins line 8. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /frontview/bin/clean_recycle_bins line 8." So I guesee I am missing some frontview module files right? Where can I get them?Solved7KViews0likes18Comments
