3 TopicsFVS336Gv3 PPTP VPN for macOS Sierra
Hi Netgear community, One of our sites has a NETGEAR ProSafe™ Gigabit Dual WAN SSL VPN Firewall FVS336Gv3 which has PPTP Server enabled and setup with working users for Windows OS, there is 1 user that uses MAC OS. Since that 1 user upgraded their macOS to Sierra the option for PPTP has been removed (Apple reports the reason is for security). I have tried enabling SSLVPN in the firewall but have struggled to get that working. As a fallback, we are looking at 3rd party clients that can create the VPN using PPTP again. I've looked at some suggested clients (FlowVPN, VPN Tracker, user is trying TunnelBlick) but not getting very far. Ideally, we want a freeware that can do PPTP (unless there is a free SSLVPN option). Any suggestions or if you have got around this issue with macOS Sierra. Many thanks in advance.6.6KViews0likes10CommentsSlow network performance when connecting to RAS
I replaced an older 318 with a FBS318v2 and the internal network is working great, and a problem I had with dropped internet appears to be solved. I have a remote access server (RAS) set up on the internal network and have setup a firewall rule to forward pptp traffic to that server. It works, and we can connect, but the network slows from a ping time of around 32ms to an exteral address to around 3000ms. The internal times from server to server goes from 1ms to around 2500ms. If we disconnect from the RAS, the times return to normal. We did update to the latest firmware5.3KViews0likes7CommentsPPTP VPN instable
The PPTP VPN of our FVS336Gv3 is configured according to instructions in KB article. I connect to FVS336Gv3 from home, using a Windows 10 VPN Client. The Win LAN address is 192.168.0.0/24, when connecting VPN adapter gets a 192.168.50.0/24 IP (DHCP 100..110). Since machines in the FVS336Gv3's LAN have 192.168.100.0/24 like IP, I can't access 192.168.100.0/24 machines directly, I have to add route entry: route add 192.168.100.0 mask 255.255.255.0 192.168.50.100 After this ping gives echo, and I can work using Remote Desktop. My problem is that the VPN connection is not stable, after some minute (random) the connection freeze. Windows 10 recognize nothing about it, it shows that VPN is still connected, although I no longer can ping 192.168.50.100 or any machine in the remote network. I have to reconnect VPN, add a route again. Many of my collegaues struggle with the same problem. We checked the internet connection, it seems stable. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
