Hi All , I have not used my ReadyNas NV + RND4000 for close to 7 years (remained boxed since house move). I wanted to bring it back into use but I am not sure what I need to do. I thought i would need to bring the Operating System (linux?) and the firmware up todate? If I connectect to my router and switch on will it go through the firmware updates automatically? I guess I would have to update the OS (linux) manually? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers OldTimer251.6KViews0likes3CommentsProblem ReadyNas NV+ Sparc. Volume Dead
Dears all, After more than three week without accesing ReadyNas (but all the time on), i had a very bad surprise. I have a Readynas NV+ [RND4000v3] and i have a big problem. Inside there is all my data of my life and work. I've seen that similar problems, but was different. So please help me or at least guide me in finding a solution. The problem came from the blink of a thunderbolt I guess might have hit the Nas lightly. After the lightning strike, the Nas asked me for a check and the blue light of the light blinked. Clicked on the button, Nas checked which succeeded up to 100%. Since then, Nas has written No Network Link. I tried to change the cable and swap the Router door. It always does. I have 4 Discs. -1 500 GB Western Digital [WD5000AAKS] -2 500 GB Western Digital [WD5000AAKS] -3 300 GB MAXTOR [7L300SO] -4 320 GB MAXTOR [STM3320620AS] Two running and two backups. I do not remember what kind of raid I used but certainly the 2nd backup of 1st and 4th backup of 3rd. When I turn on the 1.3.4 HD NAS have fixed green light and 2 is off. The Nas writes: Bios Info: Eth link Fail. Then start Booting ... and the light of the HD 2 lights up. Nas writes: No Network Link C: 192 of 454 GB free - D: 98 of 274 gb free I bought an external HD hoping to connect it to the USB and press backup but write backup performed instead does not copy anything. Everything seems to work well apart from the connection problem that does not allow me to retrieve the data or plan backup with the [backup] button from HD to USB. I am desperate. Thank a lot for any help1.1KViews0likes1CommentReadyNAS NV+ V1 dead disk 1 drives 2 and 4 showing 0mb free
Came home from vacation only to find my NV+ v1 frozen. Tried to unplug and reboot, and it and nothing. Disk 1 was making noise, and I read that sometimes if disk 1 went out you would need to replace that before it would boot. Got the new drive in yesterday, replaced it, and no boot. Next step was refreshing the OS, so used the reset button on the back to do that. After that didn't work I tried putting drive one back in, and replacing one drive at a time with the new drive I had just purchased. Still nothing. Went back and swaped out drive 1 again with the new drive and this time it booted, but was still telling me I had a dead drive on the frontview. Once I was able to get fully booted it showed the following.. Slot 1 - no drive Slot 2 - 0mb free Slot 3 - 928 gb free Slot 4 - 0mb free Looking at the logs it seems that drive 4 had been failing but for some reason I never got the email notifications. I am afraid that I've lost my data..... Any ideas?2.7KViews0likes5CommentsReadyNas NV+ Development > Questions (Regarding: Frontview / Device Source Code)
Hey the Netgear Commmunity I would like to do some development on the ReadyNas NV+ V1 like if EOL and old but still functinal. Although there is still some bug fixes firmwares coming out, i dont think any huge update will be done. Frontview: I would like to redesign the Frontview and make more modern lol (from what i see from the folder contain html, css, js ...), So is there any information that could be provided on how everything connect together (a little backgroud story to give and idea), also any additinal information that could be helpfull. Device Source Code: The provided source is the kernel and addons right ? Is it possible to build the os from scratch or not ? What exacly missing etc ?2.8KViews0likes4CommentsReadyNAS NV+ Fails to Power Up after Electricity Outage
I have two Ready NAS NV+ boxes and both have experienced failure to restart after electricity outages due to storms and similar situations. The two systems seem to be taking it in turn as to which will not start after these electricity outages (I know that is not at all scientific). Both seem to have come back to life after a few weeks of downtime or after another electricity outage. Any ideas on what is going on here? Or how to make the restart happen sooner? Box 1 (currently powered up) - Firmware 4.1.14, Linux 2.6.17.14 ReadyNAS Box 2 (currently will not power up) - not sure2.8KViews0likes4CommentsIssue with ReadyNas NV+ after changing a drive
Yesterday I swapped out the 4th drive in my ReadyNas NV+. I got a number of emails from the NAS. - Disk remove event occurred on SATA channel 4. - Disk fail event occurred on SATA channel 4. - A SATA reset has been performed on one or more of your disks that may have affected the RAID parity integrity. It is recommended that you perform a RAID volume resync from the RAID Settings tab ( accessible in the Volumes page => Volume tab in FrontView ). The resync process will run in the background, and you can continue to use the ReadyNAS in the meantime. - Disk add event occurred on SATA channel 4. - Disk initialization started. The estimated time of completion is 17 hour(s) and 39 minute(s), at which time you will be notified via email. You can also check the progress in Frontview in the Volumes -> RAID Settings tab. Please do not shutdown the system while the initialization is in progress. ================== Sometime after that last email I noticed that the NAS was unreachable. I wasn't sure about the time, but it was probably under an hour. I couldn't ping it or use the Raidair app to connect to it. There wasn't a message on the front panel, it just had the IP address and the size info. So I just let the NAS blink away, waiting for when it would be finished. And that last email was yesterday more than 24 hours ago. This was the 4th drive that I swapped out. I had to swap out Drive 2 due to a sudden failure. I had been receiving occassional SMART error emails on Drive 3, but nothing on Drive 2. I swapped out Drive 2. It initialized successfully and it synced successfully. That was in April of this year. When Drive 3 went past the 30 mark on SMART errors, I swapped that out too. That was at the end of September of this year. A few days ago on the 1st of December, I swapped out Drive 1 and that went well. So I am having trouble with Drive 4 now. All of the drives are WD 2GB Reds. Any suggestions? Thanks.2.6KViews0likes7CommentsReadyNas NV+ Upgrade Advice
I just received an email regarding the End of Life for my RND4000 (ReadyNas NV+). With that I am starting to for an upgrade unit. look Are there any resources available which would detail the best and hopefully easiest way to have to upgrade my unit (I was thinking the RN204) or am I going to have start from scratch regarding all my settings, data, etc? I know it would be to much to ask that the drives could just be swapped and magically everything was working. Thanks for any advice.2.7KViews0likes2CommentsBooting status from lot of time
