Hello everybody, I am currently seeing my EAX20 connecting to the internet a amazon data center via port 8883. I have currently blocked this but I am wondering why it does this? if it is sometthing to do with MQTT, what is it trying to do and do I need it? apart from checking for firmware updates whicj it can still do and I dont have it connected to any app or cloud services, what could be using this? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I cant find this answer anywhere and cant do a support ticket because Netgear only offers 3 months support. Anyway thank you in advance.New EAX15 Mesh Extender - I have a few questions
Hello, this is my first post. Although I am a long time Netgear user! For over 2 decades, I have used two of their cable modems, some Wi-Fi routers, Wi-Fi adapters and many of their venerable 4, 8, and 16 port switches for the home! The EAX15 is the latest Netgear hardware to add to my list! First of all, it works great! I mean, my network setup is fairly simple and kind of old. But it works very well for extending my old 802.11n 2.4 GHz network just fine! I was worried that it may not support that old stuff... Firmware:1.0.3.36 Not explicitly listed on the configuration website mywifiext.local (why?)... but it's up to date and Netgear's site says 1.0.3.36. Model: "EAX15-100NAS" That's written on UPC code portion of the box above serial number, MAC and so forth numbers. The forum suggested there might be a V2 or V3 version of EAX15, but I don't see that anywhere. I guess it's just EAX15. So I have a few questions: Being an old user of home network appliances, I was able to quickly plug my computer into the Ethernet jack of the EAX15 and configure the "conventional" way as expected. The IP was a bit different, but that was easy to figure out. To my dismay, I noticed that documentation neglects telling users about this capability and instructs them to install the Nighthawk App. I installed the app and noticed it wanted me to create an Internet account and provide information to Netgear not relevant for the local network device ... like, Location? OK, maybe it's for Wi-Fi regulatory domain. But still... why wouldn't you document the "old fashion" way to do this? And why would you require an Internet account and collect lots of data from our phones for a strictly local network appliance? This is probably a dumb question. But why can't this product simply amplify or repeat a signal on specific frequencies? Why do you need a man-in-the-middle computer to serve simultaneously as an access point and wireless client? This device is way more complicated in functionality than I thought it would be. I use Adguardhome to protect my elderly father from scams and malware (and helpless devices). I logged into it today and noticed that my EAX15 queries netgear.com about 200 times per hour. What exactly is my strictly local network device communicating with Netgear? I've attached s screenshot of part of my adguardhome statistics page for context. Anyway, I'm otherwise very pleased with the device. It works great! Good job Netgear!868Views0likes1CommentAX1800 WiFi Mesh Extender (EAX14 being hacked?
I've only started having difficulty with this priduct 3 months ago. When I first got it, it worked perfectly fine. I think it's being hacked into because my password for the login has been changed 2 times and I was unable to get it until I managed to change it again. The nighthawk app is saying it doesn't recognize my phone so I can't get in. Is this a matter of which phone I first set it up on? Also, the setting to autmoatically upgrade firmware had been set on no. I had it on yes. I think it's being hacked and if so, what can be done to effectively secure it? Btw. I'm not savvy in this area.Is Nighthawk a scam? Dangerous? Data collecting? Seems like it.
I bought this router/extender 3.5 months ago. Every single month so far, it shut down my internet access and the only way to get it back was to load that **bleep** app on my phone. As soon as I loaded the app, the network came back. This happened 4 times now. Every time I couldn't get the network back, all I did was load the app and the network came back instantly. This indicates to me that you are collecting something, data, something, I don't know. There's no reason the app should be required to use your router or extender. I even factory reset this device, and set it up via the web page only. It wouldn't even connect to the internet once I set it up that way. I had to load the app, which said the router was not set up, but the network came back even with it saying not set up. Today we had an 8 hour outage with xfinity and the network came back on the main xfinity router, but the nighthawk extender did not come back. I reboot it, nothing. I connected to it via the android app, boom, internet's back. This is entirely unacceptable. There is no reason this app should be required to use your hardware. None whatsoever. I can't even access the router via the local web IP anymore, you guys disabled my access to it. It doesn't have a local IP anymore since I set it up and the android app can't even set it up. You gave me a useless 3 month warranty with it, and don't even have support unless you pay for it. You are a terrible, scummy, greedy company. I used to like Netgear, way back. But you've changed, you've gotten way worse. The company should shut down, and never sell another product again. Forcing people to use android applications that collect god knows what in order to make your hardware operate. Shutting down your hardware if people don't want to use the android applications. Giving useless tiny warranties and support time limits. Absolutely horrific for a company to do. Very anti-consumer. I plan to make a fuss about this everywhere I can go. This is just, terrible. I'm so angry right now. Having to load an android app just to use my **bleep** extender. I'm sure you'll hide my post, ban me so people can't hear my experience, whatever it takes to make yourselves look good. I already left my review on Amazon, and posted on the reddit. I'll continue to spread the word in other locations assuming this problem doesn't get fixed very promptly. This is truly terrible, I have no idea what kind of spyware your app is but the fact that its entirely required is just wrong. https://www.reddit.com/r/NETGEAR/comments/1b0d7bw/nighthawk_app_dangerous_or_just_plain_bad/ https://www.reddit.com/r/NETGEAR/comments/1aw9bxp/netgear_routers_without_app_without_account/4.3KViews2likes7CommentsAbout Nighthawk EAX80 Extender Security Type Setting
Firmware Version V1.0.1.70_1.0.2 I find that there is an option "WPA2/WPA3-Personal" for WIFI Security setting in the Nighthawk app but missing it in the Web interface. If I change any wifi settings by the web interface, the security setting in both the web interface and the app will be completely set as other options instead of "WPA2/WPA3-Personal". Didn't NETGEAR notice this problem? I'm surprised no one noticed it after all this time. The "WPA2/WPA3-Personal" is completely missing in the web interface setting.😢 Please fix it. Thank you.🙏551Views0likes0CommentsWhy my EX 7700 Wifi repetor is sending DNS request 1 time by minutes on netgear.com

Hello Community. I have a Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Router (WNDR3400v2) with two AC750 range extenders in different parts of the house. This setup has been working fine UNTIL we got two new iPhones and a new iPad. The damn smarty-pants new Apple devices now complain about "weak security" on one of the AC750 extenders and refuse to connect to that one. Only on ONE of the extenders, mind you - and it's the older of the two. My router is set for WPA2-PSK [AES] which I'm pretty sure is the highest security protocol it can support. Here's my question: how can I access the security settings for the "weak" extender? And hopefully upgrade those settings. When I use www.routerlogin.net, it appears to show me only the settings for the main router and not the extender - even though I'm connected through that extender (using an older Apple device.)1.6KViews0likes2CommentsEAX12 - Disable WPS
Good afternoon, Regarding the EAX12, I have a concern in that I can't see a way to disable WPS. WPS is a known insecure mechanism and I will not introduce a device to my home network which will not enable me to turn off this feature. Could you please explain how this can be achieved. Thanks.565Views0likes0CommentsHow to get access to 192.168.1.1?

When connected to my network, all devices give me this error: NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID I've reset my modem, both through the app and routerlogin.com. I've replaced the coax, sent refresh signals from Xfinity, and checked that the timezone and firmware is correct and up to date. Possibly unrelated, but also every time I go in to admin settings, it makes me put a new admin pw and sec questions. It doesn't save it from last time. Currently I just refreshed again from Xfinity app, and it's still not functioning. Any suggestions?1KViews0likes0Comments
