Hello, i am a new user and have some really easy? problems with my NAS. I want to watch videos from my NAS with VLC. I have Windows Vista and WIndows 7 on my computers. On my Windows 7 i can add a (media device in the network) and watch the movies in Windows Media Player, but have no idea how to open the videos from the NAS to VLC and watch them in that player. The computer who runs Windows Vista is my "movie computer" and i have no idea how to watch the videos from the NAS. Have tried PLEX aswall but the transcoding? dosen't work. :? So if someone please can tell me how to, the easist way and step to step explanation, so that i can look at movies from the NAS(prefered to open them with VLC). Thank you! :oops:3.4KViews0likes5CommentsReadyDLNA does not find all files (dirs, files missing)
Hi, I just recently purchased a RN102 (6.0.8 ) and loaded all my media files onto it. It's been on for a few days now so any DLNA indexing services should have had more than enough time to finish.. however, a lot of folders are missing - completely randomly. And some folders contain only half the files - other files appear in wrong places. Why?? I was using a Buffalo WVL before (actually, I still am until I get this sorted out) with Twonky and it worked beautifully. Twonky detected all my files and the directory structure was very good. (it was the same as my directory structure) With ReadyDLNA as it's now, it's completely unusable. The folder structure isn't even correct! As an example: I have 20 .mpeg files in one directory but this directory is not showing up - instead one of the .mpeg files shows up in the root (in "folder" view on TV). :? How is this even possible? If ReadyDLNA has found the directory and the files in it, why not just show the whole directory? Why would it skip 19 files and "move" the last one to root? Photos from my last holiday won't even show up. I used 2 cameras, a sony compact and a nikon dlsr. So I have 2 directories called "Sony" and "Nikon". Both contain .jpg's For some reason only Sony shows up :? :? Twonky displays both.. I must have missed something. Where's the re-indexing button? Or how do I install Twonky? (I'm using a SONY 46" EX500 if it matters)Solved42KViews0likes32CommentsConstant Disconnect with samsung led tv
I have an issue that keeps on bugging me and I consider myself a tech geek of sorts. I keep on getting a disconnect like maybe 5-7 minutes of playback of my LED TV. I tried all sorts of settings, like changing the IP address, creating a static IP, used several ethernet cables, upgrade firmware, try to isolate the files by playing one or multiple at the same time and nothing is working. This only seems to be occuring on my LED TV. The message i get "Media device is diconnected" NAS ULTRA2. Then i locate the device again and it happens again. Any ideas or solutions i can try? Here is a rundown of my devices. Samsung LED 46in Internet connected TV Netgear WNDR4500.Dual band router (latest firmware) Netgear Prosafe 16 port Gigabit switch Netgear Readynas ultra 2 (current firmware) Plex is up to date ReadyDNLA has been has up to date firmware as well. I also tried disabling the DNLA on my router to see if that was the issue and same results. Any suggestions would be helpful3.7KViews0likes4CommentsSqueezeCenter username/password
I recently reinstalled the SqueezeCenter (now called Logitech Media Center) software on my ReadyNAS duo, because the "Setup" button resulted in a "{browser} Can not connect to this webpage" message, on Netgear's support recommendation. I can now see the Logitech Media Center page, but it's asking me for a username and password. The username and password that works on mysqueezebox.com does not work on this page. I've tried several times, tried resetting and creating a new password to no avail. Any suggestions? Other details: DLink 655 router, ReadyNas Duo set to a fixed IP which is registered in the router... do I need a hole in the firewall? I didn't need it when I originally set the machine up.2.4KViews0likes3CommentsPlease Help: can't ssh, can't start services_case nos.: 25913382 / 25923232
My problems started this morning by getting this email message every 10 minutes: System volume root usage is 81 %. This condition should not occur in normal conditions. Please contact technical support. Looking into my system it looked like there was a lot of stuff in my /var directory, so I wanted to move that to a different partition. I did a little research and followed the instructions here to move my /var directory to /home/var: http://serverfault.com/questions/429937/how-to-move-var-to-another-existing-partition Basically, I did this: mkdir -p /home/var rsync -va /var /home/var mv /var /var.old mkdir -p /var mount -o bind /home/var /var added this line to /etc/fstab: /home/var /var none bind Then, could not access web admin page for readynas, something about the management service not running, so I hard rebooted. When it came back up it automatically went into setup wizard. I tried to ssh into my readynas but couldnt. I tried to turn on ssh service via the web admin page, but doesnt seem to let me turn on any services. No other services are working either (Plex, Subsonic). How can I fix this? My old var folder should still be there. I want to just change it back to the way it was, but since I cant ssh in I dont know how to do that. Please help. Hello, I am a complete NAS newbie so please bear with me. The main reason I purchased a NAS was media file backup (precious pictures and videos of wedding, honeymoon, new born baby etc! I was also attracted to the 102 because of the stated native iTunes Server support, but I cannot get this to work. I can open and view files and folders in Windows explorer, including the same Music folder set as the iTunes Server folder I can view photographs on a PS3 using DNLA, but not music I can connect itunes client to a shared library, but its appears to be empty I'm guessing this is a permissions issue or some kind of iTunes specific file is missing. I've searched these forums but cannot find any relevent hits. RN102 is running the latest firmware 6.0.4 Any ideas? -- Dan4.4KViews0likes17CommentsReadyNAS Duo owner - what media player should I buy?
Dear ReadyNAS community members, I have a ReadyNAS Duo for some years now and I consider buying a media player like Xtreamer Sidewinder 4. I would mainly like to play video stored on the NAS. Does anyone have experience with this device? Does it work well with a ReadyNAS Duo? Any other recommendations? Many thanks! I'm having a number of issues. I've got it installed and running but I haven't been able to play anything on it yet. I have a ReadyNAS 102. The first issue is that it's telling me there is an update, but I'm trying to update it automatically from the Apps menu. It starts to download the update but then it stops and gives me an error message saying it can't download the binaries now. I've tried to download them manually from the Plex website, but it's asking me what kind of CPU my ReadyNAS has but I have no idea what the CPU is or how to install it after I download it. The next problem is that it's saying that Remote Access isn't available unless I'm logged in, but I think I am logged in. It's showing that I am logged in at the upper right corner of the screen. I've added a bunch of my video folders to the Plex Server but I can't access them from my Xbox One. It's telling me it can't find anything, but I can see them if I access them from my web browser, but when I try to watch them from my web browser it saying something about the server isn't powerful enough to process them. I'm also getting, "Server unavailable. We couldn't reach "ReadyNAS". Make sure it's online and try again." error messages. So, I'm not sure what's going on. I need lots of help. Thanks so much!6.4KViews0likes12Comments
