I'd like to back up my ReadyNAS 214. The shares have both Windows and Mac files on them. I understand that things can go south quickly when formats mistmatch. So, if i buy a target back up drive, which format should i use? NTFS, MacOS, some other format? The idea is if I have catastrophic failure on the ReadyNas 214, I'd have a back up to the backup and I could restore from that. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.999Views0likes2CommentsReadynas Duo V2 cannot access configuration
I have a ReadyNAS Duo v2 connected to my home network with both Mac & PC (Win10) on the network with 2x4TB drives installed. Firmware version 5.3.13 I can perform write actions (add files, make new folders, rename files/folder etc) to the NAS share drives from the Mac, but not from the PC where I can only read the share files. Can access config page ReadyNAS [version 1.0.0.271] no problem. Share folders are all set up with Read/Write access for Everyone. No specific users are set up. Protocol-specific Settings are set to Automatic Permissions [checked] and Read/Write Access for all of : Folder Creation Group Rights; Folder Creation Everyone Rights; File Creation Group Rights; and File Creation Everyone Rights. I can't see anywhere else where to adjust the write permissions. Logs attached. Thanks in advance Phil1.5KViews0likes1CommentSMB Hidden Folders are not 'hidden'
Hi, I'm having a strange issue with hiding folders on my RN102. I have set certain folders to hidden that I dont want visible. On my linux box if I naviage to smb://nas2.local/ I only get three folders Music Pics Videos This is great. However if I navigate to the same path on my Windows boxes I have a extra folder data Music Pics Videos If I navigate in to the data folder every folder is visible, both hidden and non hidden. It's similar on the xbox/PS4. If I navigate to the NAS I get three folders to search but if I search by folder the entire contents of the data folder is visible. Can this be avoided? Thanks.Solved2.1KViews0likes2CommentsWindows 10 Enterprise: still no longer able to access NAS shares despite firmware v6.9.3 (followup)
Hi, This is a followup to below thread: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/Windows-10-Install-no-longer-able-to-access-NAS-shares/m-p/1467864 Resume: - Windows 10 Entreprise disabled SMB access to shares requesting/proposing the guest credentials. It won't even prompt for a user/pass account - ReadyNAS change log: OS 6.9.2 will fix this from the developers statements by disabling guest access - Until now, we were obliged to add in windows 10 the NAS credentials under which we need to access the SMB shares Current state using 6.9.3 firmware: - I tried to remove the corresponding windows credentail in the NAS: conenction is broken. I still need to add in windows 10 enterprise the NAS account to access the shares. It is behaving like if the NAS is still proposing guest access to windows 10 Bug report: This issue that was reported is still not fixed under 6.9.3. Any technical explanation and why we still need to manually add a windows account to access a NAS share ?Solved3.5KViews0likes8CommentsRN3138 From linux to SMB share
Hello. I'm running a FreePBX VoiP server and I'm trying to share recorded calls directly to the ReadyNAS SMB share. The problem is that I'm constantly getting a permision denied error. I've mapped the smb share on the PBX and I'm able to create folders and even files through mkdir or nano logged as root. Unfortunately the automatic system which saves the recordings is not using a root account or privilages - it uses different user. And that's where I'm stuck and I don't really know how to make it work. I've created a username on ReadyNAS with same credentials as on the PBX and it still doesn't want to work. Does anyone know how to make it work, or should I just try to do it in a different way (maybe an rsync? FTP?). I know it sounds complicated, but the goal that I want to achive is simple - to give everyone an access to their recorded calls right after they finish the conversation, and the default location of the recorded calls is on the PBX server where only I have access (and it has to stay that way :) ). I'm aware that it's not only ReadyNAS related, but maybe someone had simillar problem (maybe not directly with PBX but with any other linux-based system). Cheers.Solved1.2KViews0likes1CommentMy Ip camera data is not getting Stored and also data is not getting overwrite.

Sir(s) et al I've manually upgrade my RN202 from [ReadyNAS OS 6.7.5] to [ReadyNAS OS 6.8.0]. After the upgrade I wasn't able any more to access my samba/smb shares from my Linux computers running Manjaro Linux (some kind of Arch Linux) and Debian 9 Stretch (on a cubietruck): - I can see/browse the shares, get asked for the credentials, but can't login to the share - My Nextcloud installation has the same issues - On a virtual Windows 10 i can access the shares - Enable/disable the new MAC-OS feature didn't solve the problem - Using the SMB Plus tool didn't solve the issue either After a dirty rollback to [ReadyNAS OS 6.7.5] everything went back to normal/expected behavior. Another member seems to has reported a similar issue here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/samba-issue-with-mac-KODI-after-upgrade-to-6-8-0/m-p/1345769#M134953 Regards,Solved11KViews0likes14CommentsUsername with space
I was just wondering whether it is possible to register new users with usernames that has a space in them. I've got an OwnCloud-installation running on my NAS, and according to the user manual, the admin-user on the OwnCloud should have the same username and password as the owner / admin of the share that the OwnCloud is installed on. When I installed the OwnCloud, I used a username with a space. Now I am unable to register a corresponding username on the share... :smileyfrustrated: Please help. Thanks. :smileyhappy:Solved3KViews0likes2CommentsCannot delete ReadyDr Share /Disk space utilisation
I have previously setup a ReadyDR job (local to local i.e. within the same Readynas) to test the process, I subsequentley deleted the job and then tried to delete share created by the ReadyDR job. The deletion of the share failes with the error message 'Cound not delete share due to snapshot deletion failure' Code 1004030000. I also have other ReadyDr jobs that are running sucessfully between this ReadyNas 516 and a ReadyNas 2100 (destination) but what I am noticing is that the free space on the ReadyNas 516 (source) is being reduced by 0.01 TB each day. There currently is not a signiticant amount of change on the systyem and I am concerned that the ReadyDR jobs are generating additional consuption of disk space. Any suggestions on 1) Removing the share and 2) on disk space utilisation. Currently running firmaware, 6.6.0 on both devices.Solved4.7KViews0likes5CommentsReadyNas OS6.5.1 on 516 - Cannot create new shares. Error: Cannot get GID for guest
Hi all, Wonder if anyone can help? :manhappy: I have a ReadyNAS RNS51600 running OS 6.5.1, I've had this for a few years and all has been working fine. Just recently though I have tried to create a new share only to be greeted with the following error box: I've checked on the readynas itself and the GID and user guest definitely exist: root@readynas:/# id guest uid=99(guest) gid=99(guest) groups=99(guest) any ideas? this is baffling me and I've worryingly read other psts about resetting back to factory defaults, not an option here with ~12Tb of data on it.
