My first attemt looks to have failed. Sorry if this is a repeat. My network started to have files access issues and after rebooting everything but the NAS i had nothing left but now I have lost my X-RAID volume and its shares. I have now rebooted and power cycled a number of time and still no luck. I does look like I have a drive going bad (disk2) but it does look to be operational still so that does not explain my issue. Looks like other before me have had the same problem but they do not seem to have a viable resotution for me. Running 6.9.1 X-RAID with 3x 4TB drives Any thoughts?Solved1.8KViews0likes4CommentsWindows 10 Install: no longer able to access NAS shares
Hi, I upgraded 3 days a go to Windows 10 Enterprise build 16299. It was an installation from scratch I sadly have no longer access to any of my SMB shares. Access was working on Windows 7: see image below - I tried dropping to SMB1 in SMB Application + reboot both PC and NAS: no success - I disabled IPV6 under LAN adapter in Windows 10: no success - I enabled every sharing option under Windows 10 for both Private and Public networks: no success Using cmd in admin console to map the network share: net use * /delete net use t: \\nas-ip-address\data /user:admin nas-admin-password Under the shell cmd, I have access to the shares and their listing through drive T: However, it is wired that Explorer GUI cannot access to the T: drive. So I still cannot see my shares in GUI Under Explorer, I can see the NAS: - under "Media Devices", and brows the DLNA folders - under "Storage", double clicking brings the NAS web admin GUI - under "Computer", named correctly "NAS-01": but if I try to access the shares it gives me a "Network access error" I attach above the image with my error Please help me fix this asap, I am lost and really need the SMB access to manage my backupsSolved43KViews0likes5CommentsRN104 shares lost after OS reinstall, Data still intact, how can i rescue it?
RN-104 Admin Password was lost, performed OS Reinstall from boot menu as instructed by forum users.Admin password is now recovered but all shares have dissapeared from Readynas, The disks still show the same percentage usage so im guessing the data is still intact on disk but all shares are lost, when i try recreating s share with the same name and path as one i previously had i get an error message saying it could not be created, howver if i try and create a share with a name i never previously used it works fine. Also readycloud service is degraded and will not connect. How can i go about rescuing my Data from the drives ? 4x2TB drives formatted in a JBOD array. ReadyNAS 314 running on 6.6.1 and using Active Directory The issue that I'm having is that when I attempt to drill down into shares in the Share section of of the admin page, nothing happens aside from the progress bar moving temporarily and then disappearing. When viewing the files in Windows explorer, I am not having any of these issues. This behavior is happening in both the current Shares view as well as the recovery view. It is happening with all shares. I am logging into the admin page with the ReadyNAS built-in admin account. This wouldn't be a problem aside from removing my ability to be able to recover specific files and folders within each share. I noticed this last week, but it could have been an existing issue since we moved over to active directory a couple of months ago. It seems like it might be an AD permissions issue, but I'm not sure. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.2.6KViews0likes2CommentsMapped Network Drives on ReadyNAS
Hi All, Windows, as anyone familiar with backup solutions and basic networking will know, has a nifty way of sharing drives and folders between computers. Does ReadyNAS have some kind of drive mapping feature that will allow you to add drive from one ReadyNAS to the other? For instance, can I get a share from one ReadyNAS to show up on another so I can easily transfer files from one to the other?2.8KViews0likes1CommentReadyNAS 104 Firmware 6.5.2 to 6.6.0 Issues (Share Access, SMB Disabled)
Hello, I'm having some interesting issues occuring on my ReadyNAS RN104 after attempting to update from Firmware 6.5.2 -> 6.6.0 The firmware was updated via the admin portal, i.e. not a manual upload of the firmware. I received an email suggesting the NAS was rebooting. After 30 minutes of no response / ping from the 'NAS I went to investigate. The LCD Panel had the "Rebooting, See you soon" message, however no activity appeared to be occuring (idle disks, link lights steady, status light solid). I bit the bullet and power cycled the NAS. When it powered up it showed version 6.6.0 so just figured I got struck by a reboot hang that seems to be historically common with the RN104's. However I began to notice the following: I could not access my Share folders anymore. The admin portal attempts to open/expand the folder, however it fails and just loops back to the top level screen. I also cannot mount to the shares using SMB. I also notice the user and group owners for file permissions have been reset to "guest" for all shares. Share permissions seem to be the same, but no impact on access, even changing to allow "Everyone" access myNETGEAR acount suggests my NAS is offline, hinting communication has gone funky somewhere. readyCLOUD app suggesting a similar status Reading some forum discussions on similar issues I did the following: Removed the NAS from myNETGEAR account. Disconnected my readyCLOUD account and rejoined. NAS is now appearing as ONLINE. Reset the "admin" user account - aka re-apply the same password to the account. I can now access the shares correctly and see the data inside. However I can't access the shares via the readyCLOUD app or via SMB. That's when I notice the SMB service is turned OFF ! Any attempts to turn the SMB service back on fail. The system sits there thinking for a while but after it refreshes the GUI the service remains OFF. I have attempted a manual update (upload firmware) of 6.6.0 as well as the Reinstall OS Boot Menu option. Neither have been succesful. :( Am I staring in the face of a Factory Reset?4.9KViews0likes16CommentsHELP - Former ReadyCloud users cannot see shares after My.Netgear migration
Good morning, ReadyCloud is effectively down and unusable for my client. Would appreciate any help you can provide ASAP! The day of the dreaded My.Netgear migration arrived. I was able to successfully upgrade the core ReadyCloud user to a My.Netgear account, upgraded the firmware from 6.4.0 to 6.5.0, rebooted, and asked 20ish users to go through the ReadyCloud to My.Netgear account migration. I found afterwards that they did not show up under ReadyCloud's Management page as being attached to any shares. Although the My.Netgear account appeared to be correctly associated with ReadyCloud on the local admin console, I turned off ReadyCloud, and disassociated the account. I reassociated it and added one user to one share. This user had previously been a ReadyCloud account, but we transitioned her to a My.Netgear account before the disassociation. Added user to the share via email address (same address as associated with her ReadyCloud and My.Netgear accounts) from the Management pane with Read/Write permissions. Afterwards, the user received the verification email from ReadyCloud, and the envelope icon showed up on the share in the Management pane. The user successfully verified and now the envelope icon is correctly changed to the person with the cloud icon, however if you log onto that user's My.Netgear account you see that no shares are available. I repeated this process with my own email address, which had never been attached to ReadyCloud. I was correctly prompted to create a My.Netgear account, and I was able to add myself to the share with Read/Write permissions and see it while logged into my My.Netgear account with no issues. I suspect the best solution would be to permanently wipe out the old ReadyCloud accounts associated with this client and have them build fresh My.Netgear ones, but I can't find any mechanism to do so. I am certainly not going to request the customer pay for support when the system is broken on Netgear's end! Please let me know if there are any other steps I can try or any other insights you can provide. Thanks! Oscar3.5KViews0likes7CommentsAdditional Shares Visble to user admin via SMB cv. AFP not listed in FrontView->Shares
When connecting to my OS 6.5 ReadyNAS 314 from OS X 10.11.5 (with all latest updates) via user "admin" I'm seeing additional shares visble depending on if I'm connecting with AFP or SMB. These are shares that aren't even listed in FrontView -> Shares. Specifically via SMB I see a share for /data - the root of all shares and for /home the root of all home folders, even though neither of these are listed in FrontView -> Shares. Why is this? How can I control the shares that user admin can see via SMB?Solved2.8KViews0likes4CommentsNew shares requiring username and password
I have half a dozen ReadyNas NV+ units and am having a problem with NAS shares requiring login. For most of my ReadyNas NV+ units I have 4 drives configured in a Raid5 and I use the detault shares of BACKUP and MEDIA, I can see these by tyoing in the IP address of the NAS unit preceded by \\ e.g. \\10.1.1.1 However for one I have installed 2 x 750gb and 2 x 500gb drives each configured as a RAID1 Mirror The ReadyNas NV+ installed the default shares on the 750gb raid1 and I can see the default shares with no access problems I created a share on the 500gb drives and I can see it along with the default shares, however, when I click on that share it requests a username and password. I want to be able access this NAS from any computer and any username without this request, so how do I achieve this, I checked all the setting on the share and they seem identical to the default shares.8.5KViews1like22Comments
