spindown
3 TopicsSpinning up shortly after each Spinning down
I just bought a new ReadyNAS 214 and updated to latest firmware (6.7.5). I setup spin-down (5 minutes, all the time) as I rarely use it (mainly only for storage and back-up purpose). However, I noticed that the disk is running all the time. I checked the log, and found that it always spinning up shortly (5~20 seconds) after spinning down. Here is the latest log (with disk information, only 1 disk installed) Aug 15 05:26:12 ReadyNAS noflushd[31164]: Enabling spindown for disk 1 [sda,0:0:ST8000VN0022-2EL112:[Serial]:SC61:7200] Aug 15 05:32:08 ReadyNAS noflushd[31164]: Spinning down disk 1 (/dev/sda). SMB, AFP, ReadyDLNA, UPnP, HTTP, HTTPS are enabled (all by default). Saw another thread of the issue caused by IPv6 so IPv6 is disabled but not helpful. The disk is pretty empty at this time (485.8GB used). Any suggestion? Is there any way to debug myself, or should I send the log to someone?Solved3.7KViews0likes7CommentsReadynas 104 6.5.1 disk spindown

Hi all, with firmware 6.2.2 drive spindown works as expected. Drives are stopping after 20 minutes and remain stopped until NAS is accessed from any computer. With newer firmware (6.2.3, 6.2.4, not tested 6.4.0) they spin down too but start again after some seconds. After some hours without any changes I went back to 6.2.2 and everything was ok. Is there a solution to this problem? Is it solved with 6.4.0 (because downgrade is not possible)? My NAS is the RN-102 and the hard drives are two Toshiba DT01ABA300.3.1KViews0likes5Comments
