RNDP6000-v2 V6.10.8 Something is wrong with the dlna part on this nas. When the nas is rebooted it deletes the files.db and starts to rescan. What needs to be done to stop it deleting the file and rebuilding? I've reinstalled the firmware (6.10.8), hoping that would reset what ever was wrong but no joy there. it's running as /usr/sbin/minidlnad -S What info should I get for you to help me resolve this? Thank You.2.8KViews0likes12CommentsReadyNAS CD/DVD support, abcde, handbrake etc
Hi After many attempts with abcde and handbrake-cli with an external usb dvd rom drive I finally have it all working so I thought I would post here for anyone else needing. This was on a Ready Nas 516 but I assume it would be similar for most with maybe some changes here and there. First, to be able to install the tools I needed a repo for Jessie that actually loads so added the following to /etc/apt/sources.list deb [trusted=yes] http://archive.debian.org/debian jessie main contrib non-free Then installed abcde and it’s parts I was after, you may want more codecs etc apt install abcde eject eyed3 id3 lame Finally for abcde it needed updating newer than the repo version, I needed make below to install not any compiling curl -kO https://abcde.einval.com/download/abcde-2.9.3.tar.gz | tar -xvf - cd abcde-* apt install make make install You may want to add these to the ~/.abcde.conf as the old server no longer exists I believe CDDBMETHOD=cddb CDDBURL="http://gnudb.gnudb.org/~cddb/cddb.cgi" Now handbrake-cli took a bit more to get operational because the kernel drivers sr_mod.ko and cdrom.ko are missing. First add to sources, well this is optional if you want libdvdcss2 deb http://download.videolan.org/pub/debian/stable/ / Then ensure the key is added apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 6BCA5E4DB84288D9 Now install the apps apt install handbrake-cli libavcodec-extra libdvdcss2 udftools Finally you will have to compile the drivers for sr_mod.ko and cdrom.ko as follows, do this on a share as it’s a few GB needed or on another machine to speed things up This part must be done on the Nas, the .config file from this is needed later apt install linux-image-extra depmod -a modprobe configs zcat /proc/config.gz > .config modprobe -r configs Here on can be done on another Linux box or under wsl in windows if needed wget https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GPL/ReadyNASOS_V6.10.8_WW_src.zip unzip ReadyNASOS_*.zip cd linux-4.4.157-x86_64 apt install libncurses-dev bc build-essential Copy the config file into this linux kernel folder make menuconfig Navigate the menu add device/block dev/packet writing (possibly not needed) add device/scsi/scsi cdrom make prepare make modules_prepare make # possibly not needed make modules Copy the files built as follows cp drivers/cdrom/cdrom.ko /lib/modules/*/kernel/drivers/cdrom/ cp drivers/scsi/sr_mod.ko /lib/modules/*/kernel/drivers/scsi/ Finally bring them online depmod -a modprobe sr_mod modprobe cdrom Now enjoy dvds showing up as /dev/sr0 and being usable in handbrake or lsdvd etc I would attach the compiled files for my 516 using 6.10.8 here if it let me but it only allows images it seems.1.5KViews0likes3CommentsStreaming music from ReadyNAS to an Android phone
I'd like to be able to access music stored on my ReadyNAS remotely on an Android phone. I had been assuming I would use Google Play Music through which you use their client to upload the music to their cloud and then play it in their app on the phone but it seems that the service has been discontinued since I last used it. I think I'm pretty flexible about a solution but the infrequency of use would preclude a paid-for service. The music is entirely in MP 3 format and the ReadyNAS is connected to the internet via a decent broadband service without usage limits so the solution doesn't necessarily need to involve cloud storage, I'm happy for it to be streamed directly from the NAS. A reliable and easy-to-use app on the phone is a must. Thanks in anticipation...1KViews0likes1CommentIntermittent DLNA service to televisions
I am having intermittent service to my TV's, using hardwired CAT5, with DLNA service from ReadyNAS and Synology media server. I don't know where to look or who to ask for a possible solution. NetGear has their troubleshooting so narrowed down that they don't cover overall system issues well even if the equipment is NetGear products. I have a 24-port managed prosafe switch JGE524e. I suspect it is somehow the root of the problem. I never had issues like this with my older Asante 24 port switch. But it failed and I had to replace it. The TV's, both of them do show the media files sometimes. The connection doesn't seem to correlate to any external event. TV's either show the connections or the media screen is blank. Both TV's behave the same. One has connection so does the other. One clue is once I make a connection the TV will stream video indefinately. If I stop the video streeming, sometimes the files will still show and othertimes they will dissapear. If I check randomly, they could reappear anytime. If I halt the stream without closing the specific file viewing, the stream (movie video) will continue at a later time even if the media files dissapear. The TV is connected by CAT5 and it will always play PRIME or NETFLIX steams with never an issue. I have two media servers ReadyNAS NV+ and a Synology DS1813+. They will either both show on the LG-TV screen or one or the other or nothing may show on screen. The Aquis 70 smart TV has similar results. First question is the Prosafe JGS524. I am running it unconfigured although it is a smart switch. Is there a setting I don't know about that might cause this kind of behavior? Second has anyone seen or heard of this kind of behavior with a Prosafe switch. Finger points at the switch as I never remember having any issues when I had the Asante smart switch in use. I suspect the problem is initiating a connection. I have played with the connection time on the Synology. It didn't make a difference.Solved6.5KViews0likes8CommentsCannot install ANY apps or delete ReadyNAS 102
Hi brains trust, I'm at a loss. I started having trouble with Plex were the server would automatically turn off after 5 minutes. I've been trying to trouble shoot and get it back to running, but nothing is working. Was running firmware 6.9.5, uinable to uninstall or install any apps. So I removed Plex via the browse function of RAIDar. Still no good, siumply cant reinstall. Have reverted my firmware back to 6.9.4 Hotfix 1, still the same problem. I cannot install anything, upload new apps for install, or delete apps. I really don't want to have to factory reset as I don't have the room to back up my data. I've got the logs ready to go, could I please get some assistance to try and resolve this? ThanksSolved7.6KViews0likes17CommentsNAS for Logitech’s Media Server (LMS) please
My Readynas Ultra 2 with 2 * 2TB seagate drives is failing I think. See previous topic. If I wanted to replace this with a New Readynas unit is the Logitech Media Server app supported? It didn’t appear in the listed apps on units I looked at. If so would I get away with using same discs or should I just upgrade to bigger disc (s) and use these old ones as backups in a tower or something?1.8KViews0likes2CommentsPlex Cloud Alternative - ReadyNAS NAS Storage
Barb Gonzalez of SoundAndVision.com posted a great article about using ReadyNAS NAS Storage as an alternative to the soon-to-be-canceled Plex Cloud. We've posted a few snippets below. Read the entire article: Plex Cloud Is Gone But Here’s a Viable Alternative. Have you used ReadyNAS For Plex? Let us know your feedback below. >> Streaming media company, Plex has announced the end of its Plex cloud. For Plex Cloud users with large libraries the question becomes: Where can I save movie files so they’re always accessible without having to leave a computer powered on all the time? The answer: A network attached storage (NAS) drive, of course. Users could save their media libraries online to stream to the Plex app on devices at home or on the road. The end of the Plex Cloud means users now have to store their media files on computers or hard drives at home. Plex Cloud Is Gone But Here’s a Viable Alternative | Sound & Vision For home theater enthusiasts who’ve invested in large movie libraries, it’s worth considering as a replacement for the Plex Cloud. The 626X is easy to use, provides fast access to files, and delivers an experience akin to having an external hard drive connected to a computer. The NAS effectively becomes your own personal cloud.40KViews5likes14CommentsCan I turn off "All Videos" in ReadyDLNA?
Is there a way to turn off the "All Videos" pseudo-folder than shows up using ReadyDLNA? I have a number of DVD and Blu-Ray folders in my Videos directory, and the multitde of generically-named files in "All Videos" is just a jumbled mess. Since I doubt there is a way to select what goes into that folder, I'd like to just disable it to prevent accidentally browsing into it.2.9KViews0likes7CommentsChange Music share from /data/Music to /home/musik
I have stored all my music in /home/musik, which e.g. works well for Logitech Media Server, which I simply point at that directory. However, the default SMB/DLNA share named "Music" points at /data/Music. How can I change the "Music" share so it points to /home/musik? If I modify /etc/fronview/samba/Shares.conf, the change is lost at next reboot. I'm on a ReadyNas 212 with 6.9.4 Hotfix 1 firmware.2.5KViews0likes7Comments
