This was posted as a reply to another message, but is reposted here for easier searching. I have now confirmed that a mini-ITX, aka Flex ATX, supply will work as a replcement for the NV, NV+ (v1), NVX, Ultra 4, and Ultra 4 Plus, and I assume Pro 4. Be attentive of the amount of +12V supplied, as it needs to be at least 7A to meet the spec of the original. The 250W supply I got provides 13A, and I wuld expect all 220 or 250W supplies would have enough. One 150W one I saw advertised had only 5A. The connector has to be re-wired per the diagram here: http://www.readynas.com/download/archive/pdf/ReadyNAS_PSU_pinout.pdf. One way to do that is to remove the two pins that are changed to +12V and replace them with the +12V from the 4-pin CPU connector. They are the same type of pin. On mine, the cables are the same length, too. If you have trouble removing them (there is a special tool that makes it easier), you could cut and splice, but that will void the power supply warranty. Either put the removed pins into the 4-pin connector or cover with shrink tubing to prevent them from shorting to the case You will also need to rig up a way to install the air deflector. Some good aluminum tape ought to do it. The vent holes in the one I got are not very large, so I would not recommend removing the fan unless you are willing to take it apart and drill a lot of extra holes in it. Being only a 40mm fan, it has a rather high pitch when fully spun up, but the one I got does have automatic speed control. The orignal Infrant NV I have shipped with a power supply with fan, and it could get a bit annoying. But since many are relegating their older units to backup that only powers up when needed, it would be tolerable unless in a bedroom or something. I have seen these supplies new on eBay for around $30 and elsewhere for a bit more to a lot more.SolvedWindows 10 won't access shares
I have a netgear ReadyNas Ultra 4. It's been working like a charm until a couple of days ago. At first i thought it was the nas itself as i could not access the nas through Explorer from any of the two PCs i tried. Accessing it through anything else than the Explorer works fine (like android file browser / or some streaming service) I've read some threads telling users to turn off and on the CIFS, did this but with no luck. I even went as far as to do a factory reset. As it still did not fix the problem I started realizing it might not be the NAS at all. I found my old laptop with win7 and tried to connect with that one. It worked. Now I've had win10 for a long time, so why it happened just now i'm not sure about. It might be an update? Or some settings to the network sharing or something that made it fail? I found a thread that seemed to be the same problem (about a year old), but I get access denied when trying to "Go to solution" on that one. For the record there are NO passwords or usergroups added to the NAS. It is open for all on the network (closed LAN without internett access). Does anyone know what i can do to regain access to the nas through my win10 PCs? Thanks in advance!SolvedReadyNasUltra 4 dead #26795494
One of the disk was showing increasing Smart errors, so I ordered a replacement disk (ST3000VN000) -to replace the failing disk. No big deal I thought. I had assumed that the failing disk was disk4 - a 3Tb Seagate disk I'd ad some smart errors on before - as I didn't read the emails closely enough. When I was getting an email every few minutes, I shut down the NAS to wait for the replacement disk. It arrived, and I replaced disk 4 with the new disk, and booted up. The system stayed at booting for some time - whilst I now read the message which made it clear that the failing disk was Disk 1. I powered down the NAS. I now replaced the original disk 4 - a ST33000650NS and rebooted. This appeared to work, and the Nas came up and the SMART error messages flooded in. I decided to hotswop the failing disk, Disk 1 (ST2000VN000-1H3164). Then it all started to go wrong..... I get the messages in the following order: Disk removal detected - Disk1 Raid event detected - Data volume will be rebuilt with disk 4 New disk detected Disk 1 Raid event detected - Data volume will be rebuilt with disk 1 Then nothing happened - no raid sync on the volume, and most of my files dissapeared. I downloaded the logs using frontview, and then looked at the volume status - which showed that the X-raid was dead, and that I had two spare disks. That was midnight, so I left the NAS until this morning. (No sleep - a lot isn't backed up.....) This morning the NAS appeared to have dies - though I could look at front view, I couldn't refresh it - and the NAS front panel couldn't be brought to life. I've now powered it down and asking for help. What's the next step? I wonder if I can replace the faiing Disk1 back in order to rebuild the raid array, and when that's done replace it, taking any data hit as getting the Raid array back is the priority.Solved4.3KViews0likes12CommentsAll settings were reset and can't be changed any longer
I have not logged to my ReadyNAS for some time, it was working fine, and all of a sudden I noticed that the logs are empty, all pre-installed addons are disabled, the newly installed by me dissappeared, backup jobs, everything gone. I can't change any option anymore, I can't install new addons. The ReadyNAS doesn't even respond to reboot, or shutdown. I have ReadyNAS Ultra 4 with the latest available Radiator 4.2.27.Solved4KViews0likes13Comments
