Can't connect desktop to INternet via Netgear GS105
I have recently got xfinity internet. My setup is as below: Cable Modem - Switch - Netgear N7000 Router - Desktop To be clear: Both router and the desktop are connected to the switch. Router is setup as the DHCP Server. In this scenario, the desktop is unable to get a valip IP and hence can't connect to the internet. But when I connect the desktop to the router it obtains one and can browse and everything. I got the switch from somewhere but didn't see any reset button to it so no idea if that is a thing. I am no network genius but understand the basics. I ultimately plan to keep the router in the back half of my house and hence don;t want the desktop perma connected to it. Any help is appreciated.
