ReadyNAS 202, Firmware 6.6.0 I have been trying to amend existing users which were created back when I first installed and configured the readyNAS on firmware 6.5.1 dated in July 2016, however if I attempt to amend the user i.e change the password and rename the user, the apply button is enabled and selecting this does nothing, similarly attempting to create a new user ends in the same result. The button appears to be unresponsive, no error messages are generated and waiting to see if this is just slow response times has not resulted in the account being amended or created. I've re-booted, cleared cache, checked I am in the right mode with the Access Type set to Local Users. Also checked firmware is on the latest which it appears to be. I did come across a similar thread where the workaround suggested was to reset to factory default, but this is not an option with the amount of data I have and should only be a last resort. Curiously I am still able to delete accounts and I can see and access shares along with all other elements of the ReadyNAS appearing to function as expected. I am hoping that I've just missed something obvious but I cannot see it, also double checked against the user notes and there is nothing obvious I am doing wrong, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. HeathSolved1.8KViews0likes3CommentsWhen creating a new user I am asked to enter their "Name", is this actually asking for a username?
I'm a bit confused at the field names used when creating a new user. The field that asks for a "Name" should take the user's name, such as "John Smith". I have never in my life filled out a new account form that asks for a "Name" and expects for the user to type a username instead of an actual name. There should also be a field for a username, such as "john.smith" or "jsmith". I also think it would be beneficial to allow users to set their email address as the username. Is there a reason this isnt the case? I understand that not everyone will agree with that, but I feel like it could be implemented and you could allow the ReadyNAS administrator to decide if they want to use usernames or emails or both.2.7KViews0likes1CommentHow can I get a mobile phone to view password protected Files?
I have a RN31200 and would like to view password protected files (passwords/access rights via the users set up on Readynas) on my Sony Zperia Z3. I can stream stuff to the phone, but it doesnt ask for a username or password. Does anyone know any third party apps or someway around this, without removing the permissions on the ReadyNas?2.4KViews0likes1CommentLooks like I can't create User account on my RN104
Hi there I'm a first time user, and I'm not sure if it's me, or an issue with my new device a RN104 I installed it today, immediately got an update to 6.2.5 firmware. I could connect with my ReadyCloud account, no problem now the issue is under Accounts->Users... I can create groups, but no users. It looks like it creates the user, but then it doesn't list the newly created user account. User account creation is however listed under System->Logs, and if I try to recreate with the same name, it says the user already exists!!! My user list stays desesperately empty.... only my own account under Users->Cloud Users is OK. what do I do wrong? Thx in advance for your help! PatriciaSolved7.3KViews0likes19Comments
