1 TopicAnti-virus detects malware in Readycloudsetup.exe - W32.Malware.Gen
The first time I tried to run readycloudsetup.exe my PC refused to execute. Ran the diagnostics and Microsoft stated that it was incompatable with my intel system and would only run on an AMD. Rebooted and tried again. This time my antivirus detected an infection in the Readycloudsetup.exe file and refused to allow it to execute. It says it is infected with W32.Malware.Gen What is the deal? I downloaded this from the Netgear website. I did rename one to see if I had the a windows bug that does not run any file with "setup" in the name. That explains the one entry with the different name. Based on this, it would appear that readycloud and maybe Netgear is hacked. I totally understand that this could be a false alarm. It happens. But I can't trust this software at this ponit. Can I just skip the readycloud and use this as attached storage for backup over ethernet? Other postings suggest that this will not run over ethernet and that I have to string a USB line to the PC. Not what I had planned. I just want to save copies of three hard drives and don't want the consumer dumbed-down music server crap that this seems to be aimed at.3.3KViews0likes4Comments
