Hello, I've got an N600 (C3700-100NAS) and I can't for the life of me get port forwarding to work properly. Here's the things. Whenever I map an external point to a computer running a python server on port 8000 (for example) and then check to see if the port is open on http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ it says that the port is closed. BUT, if I enable Remote Management from Netgear Genie on 8000 (or pretty much any valid port) then yougetsignal.com says that the port is indeed open. This is maddening. It seems like the router does the correct thing for remote management but not when I'm actually trying to setup port forwarding! What's even stranger is that I tried following the instructions on this guide http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-1951258/easily-open-ports-port-forward-router.html ...and on the 4th attempt it so it suddenly worked. I was able to hit my local python server from an external IP. But, I can't make another working configuration that way and am hesitant to edit the one that is working. I'm really, really lost here. Can anyone help me with this? Some guidance would be greatly appreciated.19KViews0likes3CommentsC3700 - Missing Advanced Setup Menu
I just purchased this Cable Modem Router and wanted to setup Port Forwarding, but I can't because the Advanced Setup menu is missing. Looking at the User Manual, it should show just below the Administration menu. Is there a trick to getting it to show up or is my firmware just missing it? The current firmware version is V1.01.05. I have a new C3700 router and it is working fine, except the following: I select Advanced | USB Storage | Basic Settings and my 1TB hard drive shows up just fine, but when I go to "Advanced Settings" and select the radio button next to my hard drive, then select either "Edit" or "Create Network Folder", it goes back to the default "Advanced Settings" page. Ideas?4.5KViews0likes1CommentCan't run Remote Desktop
New to Netgear routers. Just replaced my linksys with a Netgear C3700. It seems like the ability for two devices on the network to see each other and communicate is being blocked. For example, I can't ping my laptop from my desktop anymore. And I used to be able to run Remote Desktop between two computers on the network, but I can no longer make a connection. Please help me to configure the router to re-enable computer-to-computer connections.17KViews0likes6CommentsWhat do I have? Version doesn't match anything?
I just purchased an N600 Wireless modem at Best Buy and it connected fine but we noticed that when our laptops wake up from sleep mode it drops the wifi signal. I have to reconnect and then if I'm playing a game or active on the internet it's fine and will stay connected as long as I'm being active. If I leave the laptop idle for just a few minutes it drops the wifi connection and again i have to click to re-enable it. I thought there could be some type of setting that might be turning wifi off if it is idle too long and I consulted Microsoft and tech support. I did all they told me to do which was to turn off the feature that lets my computer turn off wifi if it's asleep. I then changed my laptop to NEVER sleep and it still does it. So that brought me to this forum where I thought about updating the firmware on my N600. The problem is, that my N600 version is not listed here at all. Even when I used the Netgear utility to automatically download the latest version of firmware, it says version not found. According to the netgear utility my Model number is: C3700-100NAS On the bottom of my router it says: C3700 and my serial number is: 3kx1487800650 Says my firmware is: V1.01.05 Is this the latest version for my model? My model doesn't even seem to be listed or at least the Netgear utility can't seem to find it. Also, my product did not come with a disk of any kind. The manual that came with it lists only a power plug, the modem itself and a yellow cable as the box contents. Any advice? I'm about to return it to the store and just buy another brand if I can't get these drops to stop.5.5KViews0likes1Comment
