WAX630E Mesh / Channels etc
Hello,
This might seem like a basic question but I want to check what the correct answer is.
I have 2 x WAX630Es installed - both are Insight managed and both are POE connected into the network so I believe they are "Root Only" in the Mesh Topology but I have this set to Auto anyway.
If I have both setup as Auto on the Mesh settings and both POE connected with no wireless backhaul, is this actually Mesh. Obviously both are broadcasting the same SSIDs, same passwords etc - how do devices connect from one to the other? Is it just a case of when the device gets a low connection it moves to a stronger one or do I need to turn something else on in settings aside from having Mesh set as Auto?
Also this may seem like a stupid question but do I need the channels themselves set the same ie. the invidual numbered channel within the 2.4GHz/5GHz/6GHz section for this to work or can they be left as Auto and use their own channels and devices will still "roam" from one to the other?
I hope this makes sense and like I say this is probably a basic question but want to make sure I have this right. I don't plan to use wireless backhauls anyway so do I even need the Mesh section?
Thanks in advance 🙂
I've just seen this Article:
What is Insight Instant Mesh? - NETGEAR Support
That suggests that having WIRED WAPs on the network DOES NOT need any Mesh turned on and you only turn that on if you have upto 4 WAPs connected to one of the wired WAPs via a wireless backhaul - is that right?

Fore pure wired backhaul no Mesh must be enabled. Leave it on Auto, or for security consideration, I would suggest to select:
Disable Mesh - AP does not mesh with other APs.
Thanks for reply - I realised I'd answered my own question! 🙂
