How to disable Cable Modem on C7800 Nighthawk X4S
Hi folks,
I recently switched cable providers, from Xfinitiy to WAVE. Upon connecting my X4S, I couldn't get anywhere the 1Gbit speed and Wave recommended to switch the cable modem to an Arris SB8200.
The question is: I want to keep using the wifi/Router portion of the X4S, but with the Modem being the Arris. How can I disable the modem portion of the c7800?
I do not see the option to turn off the Modem portion anywhere. Turning off NAT only makes the X4S completely dumb, disabling all Wi-fi functionality.
Thanks for any help.

You can't. A cable-TV-type modem+router model (Cxxxx) doesn't have
an external WAN/Internet Ethernet port, so it has no place where you
could connect an external modem.

I wouldn't expect disabling NAT to disable the wireless-network
capability, but it would not leave you with a working router, either.
Disabling the DHCP server wouldn't help, either. You need more
hardware, not less software.
It's not a complete paperweight. It should be possible to configure
a C7800 as a wireless access point. See, for example:

But, again, that's not a router.
