Netgear CM1000v2 RCN/Astound Connection Drops

Hello:

I have been having recent issues with constant connection dropouts and extreme lag with RCN/Astound with my Netgear CM1000v2 cable modem. Am seeing a lot of notices like this:

Dynamic Range Window violation
2023-07-12, 23:40:25Warning (5)RNG-RSP CCAP Commanded Power Exceeds Value Corresponding to the Top of the DRW;CM-MAC=94:a6:7e:0d:c5:54;CMTS-MAC=00:af:1f:1e:b1:5a;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;

RCN/Astound has reset the modem and they have apparently changed their policies on BYOM where they cannot do any type of troubleshooting.

Here is the cable connection data. I really don't know what to look for and they will charge me $75 to come look at it. Thank you.

Re: Netgear CM1000v2 RCN/Astound Connection Drops

What speeds do you pay for UP and Down from the ISP?

Any Criticals, Errors or Warnings seen in the event logs needs to be reviewed and resolved by the ISP. Indicates a signal issue on the ISP line up to the modem.

Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.
What is the brand and model of the host wifi router connected to the modem?

The modem has a ton of Correctables and Un-correctables that should be zeros.

Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Start with removing any amplifiers, signal attenuators, or splitters from the coax.
From there check the line for kinks, damage, moisture in the line.
Check the connectors for improperly made ends, foil touching the copper coax line, loose connections, bad/old/cheap connectors, or corroded connections. Replace them if you do.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute then back ON.

400 Mbps up and 25 Mbps down.

Finally got a hold of someone knowledgable at Astound/RCN (via Twitter). After checking they rebalanced the connection as they said the signal strength was too low. Everything seems back to normal. Twitter is still good for something.
