Router not sending a signal

Modem has internet but the router isn't sending a wifi signal to connect to. I hard reset the router and it'll work for a couple days than it will do the same thing again. Is my router bad or is this something that cam be fixed.

Re: Router not sending a signal

  1. what modem do you have?
  2. what router do you have?
  3. what firmware is on the router?
  4. when wifi goes down, do wired devices still work?
  5. when it goes down, what happens with the leds on the router?

details are key to helping.

Re: Router not sending a signal

To simplify it the 2.4ghz 5ghz and 6ghz lights all go out the only ones lit are the power and the internet signal. Using a wired connection the internet will work however the router itself does not send a wifi signal out. I have a nighthawk axe1100 for the router and a aeris for the modem. I was told through the provider (xfinity) that the modem can't handle the internet speed that I currently have. I decided to replace the modem with a netgear cm 1100 to see if this resolves the issue.

Re: Router not sending a signal

Did you push and hold the wifi on/off button?

Or try a factory reset?

Re: Router not sending a signal

Yes the factory reset fixes it for a couple days than the wifi goes back out.

Re: Router not sending a signal

Do you have the RAXE500? (axe11000 isn't a model, its a speed)

What firmware version is on it?

What modem/gateway is it connected to? You gave a brand name and not a model

Re: Router not sending a signal

The axe11000 is the model for the router its the nighthawk that looks like a space ship. Literally the first image that pops up on a Google search. But I'm not sure on firm ware and all that all I know is it says it's up to date

Re: Router not sending a signal

AXE11000 is not a model #.  The model# starts with RAX????

Re: Router not sending a signal

"up to date" might not be accurate. Its why we ask for a firmware version.

Also, we still don't know what modem/gateway it is. Look at the label for it and it'll give you a model number.

Re: Router not sending a signal

1. there's newer firmware. 1.0.12.96  https://www.netgear.com/support/product/raxe500.aspx#download

2. That modem you have it connected to? Its not just a modem. its a modem router combo device and causes a double nat.

A double nat happens when you cascade more than 1 router.

Fixes? There’s 3 options but only use 1.
1. Put the modem/gateway in modem only/pass through mode. This disables its routing functions.
2. Leave the modem/gateway in router mode but put the Netgears IP address into its DMZ. This forwards the data to the netgear. You can either leave the modem/gateway’s wireless enabled or disabled. Just make sure its using a different wifi channel to prevent interference
3. Put the Netgear into access point mode. This disables its routing functions. Wifi/ethernet still works but it does disable some features.
